That is certainly a lot better. As others have suggested maybe it would help to go into battery and optimize.

Hopefully it gets better as time goes on and you get closer to 10 hours SOT instead of 9 but 9 is a lot better than 6!
Welp! Unfortunately I'm going to have to factory reset because the battery is still not up to expectations. It appears that for whatever reason after clearing cache, OneUI is still very high up on the list of apps using my battery. It was a bit better yesterday but still barely reaching the levels that some of you are getting. I was able to average about 8 hours SOT on WIFI. Based on what others are getting, something has to be off.

Hoping this fixes it. Gotta admit, this isn't the greatest first impression after being on iPhone the last few years but I really like this phone, so willing to give it a shot and see if this can be fixed.

I have been charging my s23u without fast charging or super fast charging. It does take longer but since this phone is at least an all day phone I charge it at night so speed isn't an issue and if I need to charge during the day I can just turn fast charging back on.

Since using the Pixel 7 Pro I have become used to the adaptive charging which spreads the charge out over several hours. Samsung doesn't have a similar feature.

So I thought I would just turn off the fast charging over night. I can tell that the phone doesn't hear up at all. It does take a lot longer to charge. I am hoping this helps extend battery life.

I hear YouTube reviewers complain about Samsung and Apple with their slowed charging speeds and talk about phones charging in 20 minutes from empty. I kind of laugh to myself. It is certainly a convenient feature but it has to be bad for the battery. There is no way charging a phone that fast doesn't degrade battery life. These reviewers probably never use the phones long enough for degradation to happen but it would be really interesting to see over a couple years how the battery capacity is after using such high speed charging vs something like Apple, Google or Samsung?

I would think Apple if anyone would use faster charging if it didn't adversely affect battery life. Something tells me they know something and since iPhones users generally keep their phones longer it would affect Apple a lot more if their batteries crapped out after a year or two?
Fast charging does not damage the battery more than normal speed charging.

8 hours sot isn't really bad by any means. I did notice it took about two weeks for my battery to really settle in. OneUI usage is definitely high though. I rarely even see it register more than a fraction of a percent.

Yeah there's just gotta be something going on. I know I'm at 88% so maybe things could normalize, but One UI shouldn't be doing this. Unless it's HomeUp in Good Lock being the culprit but I feel like then it would say that Good Lock is draining the battery, not OneUi

Thanks! Doing a factory reset now. Not sure if I should be restoring all my data from my Samsung backup. Might result in the same issue. Hopefully not though.
Curious to see if that helped. I'm also getting high OneUI usage. I read some forums on XDA that Good Lock may be the culprit. I've disabled "run on top of other apps" but have no idea if that will impact anything. I only have a custom theme installed and am using Home Up.

I would try that first and see. May save you some headache and be worth it. A fresh install after a factory reset is going to be a pain whether you do it now or restore from backup first.

8 hours sot is really good, I personally have not got 10 hours sot out of my S23U either. What really impresses me is the standby time!

My battery standby time is impacted just enough by AOD that I will return it to tap to see it. Other than that my battery has been good.

Boost mobile has been the worst decision. I thought T mobile was bad when I was trying to unlock a phone that met their requirements.

Well, Boost has shown me a new low.

In order for me to qualify for the Google Fi discount I have to port my number from another carrier. It has been almost two weeks and Boost has yet to give me a transfer pin so I can complete the port.

I have 3 days until I can't return the phone, 5 days until Boost charges me for another month.

I have called Boost and Google Fi and no one can help. Boost doesn't even answer the phone. It is just a message and then they hang up. They have another department you can actually call but they don't have access to my account.

I am so frustrated.

Yeah that's pretty unacceptable right there.

I should have posted this before you did the reset. I am sorry.

Yes everything is synced if you sync it.

You might check your Google app and check the backup section. You might have a backup there that might have your downloaded music.

You can have backups of pretty much everything just like Apple but you have to make sure that you have synced it before you do a reset and that the files you want to backup are checked. Same thing with Samsung. You can use Samsung backup to do the same thing. If you have Google One then it will make a complete backup of the phone every so often or you can manually backup any time you want.

I forget that some people have never used an Android phone or haven't in some time. I generally suggest to back up before a reset but I didn't give any instructions.

From this point on you can make sure all your data is backed up so if you need to do a reset in the future it won't be so bad.

Generally I would suggest not to restore apps or settings but just data like downloads as sometimes because apps get updated so often restoring apps may lead to errors.

Thanks! I was able to find them on Google Drive thankfully. I did restore settings and apps so hopefully that doesn't result in the same issues. I'm not going to know for a couple days, probably. Also, not going to use Good Lock right away and see if that changes anything too.

If the backup is recent then you should not have any problems. Generally it is when a backup is old and the app version has been updated and it installs an older version from the backup that you have issues. This is one of the areas where iOS is better because generally you don't have problems with backup and restore. Also Apple's process is much easier and more intuitive.

I agree that Good Lock might be an issue. Maybe wait a couple weeks and hopefully by then they might have an update that fixes the battery drain issue.

Glad everything worked out in the end and fingers crossed that you will have better battery life and that OneUI uses .3% of battery from now on!

Sometimes the amount of customization on Android is a lot of fun and useful and sometimes it causes more trouble than it is worth. Another area where Android can improve is better quality in code and optimization in apps.

I think that this is fantastic battery life. You have 15 hours of standby time and the phone is still at 65%. I definitely get much worse battery life (but still great). I use the display though in its full resolution and have two SIM cards in use.

Thanks I was worried it didn't seem that good as I've done quite a lot of debloating and tweaks and see lots of people getting 10 to 12 hours onscreen time I know I have 60% battery left but at work and need phone so couldn't afford to let it go all the way down lol 😀

So do you think there is no need for a factory reset and batter doesn't seem faulty?

Thanks
