If you don't mind me asking, why did you leave JoD?
I had 5 lines with TMO and only used 2 of them. So it was time to thin the herd :). I am down to 2 lines now. If i decide to get the Note 8 i can always open a new JOD line for that :)

My S7 GPS was perfect and so is my S8+ I would say your wife has a faulty unit.
Yes, you are most probably correct. However, it seems that there were a lot of faulty units - there are a huge number of results for S7 gps issues. As much as I like their phones, being Samsung, this is possibly not surprising :)

Oh yeah I knew that already about the S8 and iPhone 7 Plus.

In my first day overall with the S8, battery life seems to be OK except for the standby drop with the always on display. After like 11 hours of mostly standby, I dropped about 15 percent. I'm gonna fully charge it before I go to bed and turn it off and see what happens overnight.

I found that the always on display really sucked down the battery of my Samsung Galaxy S7.

I went from two days of standby with the always on display to close to seven days once I turned off the always on display.

because i like watching movies or other videos from it,and you know it requires a higher demand for batteries, it is now enough to use, what would happen to it after one year ? i am curious about it.

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but remember that the s8 batteries retain 95% of their capacity for a year. That's, I believe, an industry best.

Does anyone make use of the notification LED for their s8? I loved it on the s3 and am considering getting an s8+ to change things up. The LED indicator paired with an app like light flow to have different colors for different types of notifications was huge. I am not a fan of the always on display or the stupid LED cover, just curious if anyone uses the LED indicator light and if it is customizable with different colors?

Has anyone noticed in device maintenance-battery, now there is a new option to put app to sleep immediately when you are not using it?

Yes I use it, most apps have the option to select what colour you use for the notification on that app. My WhatsApp is green, my kik is white, sms is blue. ect.

Anyone have the July patch yet?
[doublepost=1499532416][/doublepost]
It appears to have helped a bit but I get 7-8 hrs SoT now often so it's hard to tell exactly how much it helps.

FHD or 720p as the display setting?

How do you get that much? I can get about 4-5 hrs SOT on WQHD+, but my signal around my work, home, and masters program campus is weak.

I'm on wifi at work and home so I think that helps a ton. I found screen resolution has little to no impact in battery life. I also haven't been using AoD.

Not using AOD helps. Do you use airplane mode with Wi-Fi together?

Nope, never use airplane mode. I unplug at bed time and am still at 100% in the morning usually. The doze on this thing is great too.

I wish I had better success with the phone battery life, but I think the S8+ will be fine with the unplug from 8 am to plug at 11 pm lifestyle I have. Car charging could be used here and there, plus the option of a work charger. Only concern I have is school because Wi-Fi sucks and I get HSPA+ one bar in the classroom. Hell, even I couldn't get signal at a concert the other day when I tried to tryout Instagram's Live Feature.
[doublepost=1499546686][/doublepost]Idk how my phone's battery life estimate went from 100% (26 hrs) to 100% (19 hrs)? So stupid because all I did was put my phone's resolution down.

Are those who are unhappy with the s8 battery life using or able to use wireless charging through the day? For example, do you work at a desk?

Wireless charging, if you can, completely annihilates battery concerns. I have no idea what my SOT is because who cares when you're always topping off your battery?

A very worthwhile accessory to have. And an excellent feature.

I'd like to share my battery stats for my Snapdragon s8+, I unplugged a bit before bed last night:

I have put all apps (except those that need to run in the background) in "Always sleeping apps".

Confirmed it helped in lowering standby usage (about 10-20%). My standby drop was about 1% per hour. Now it is down to about 0.8% per hour after doing that. This saves about 5-6% over 20 a hour period ==> 30-45 min more SOT
