The dual lens is not new. It was on the note 8 and is not new to smartphone industry. Super slo mo and variable aperture is new.
Doesnt matter if it is new, it is still a missing feature on the smaller version

Surround stereo speakers for an immersive sound experience, now that's something worth taking into account before upgrading.

Also... an Headphone jack on the bottom! Ha!

Erica Griffin and other vloggers already have hands on. Go to 9:43 for speaker sound.

How else do I want them to do it?
Well seeing as I have more of a preference for smaller phones these days, I find the likes of Samsung's S8/9 Plus and iPhones Plus models too big for my tastes.

So do you think that me, as a tech enthusiast who wants a phone with a fantastic camera should have to either just deal with the fact that choosing the smaller model won't provide as good an experience, or fork out more for a phone that is unsuitable due to how big it is just to get a feature that really should be available for both?

This '3 tier option' you quote is not the way it should be. Either make a smaller phone that is one on its own (like an SE) or keep your flagship devices the same apart from the obvious bigger screen / battery. Speaking as a consumer, those should be the only differences and customers should not be discriminated against for choosing the smaller device.

Man apple doesn't have dual cameras on the regular non plus model and there animoji only work on the x.

They also put an LCD on the regular model also.

I dont ser you complaining about the iphone 8 not getting what the plus model gets or lacking what the x model has.

Better not be? Woah cowboy you have no power to dictate to Samsung what things better or better not be. Give someone a keyboard and they think they are emperor Nero.
That's Admiral General Aladeen to you.

Totally not worth upgrading from S8/Note8 imo.
Not even a single talk about future updates and performance...

So looking at the talk on twtitter, AR Emoji is going pretty horribly for people in the hands-on areas.

Welp, i didnt get the S8 because it cost too much and they got rid of the flat screen. I still dont really want an Edge , because well, they cost more and i dont really need or want it. So....id like to get another Samsung as they have been great phones for me and i actually like the extra things they have in them like split screen viewing,..... but i refuse to pay $900 + for a phone so my recourse is to wait a few months when they go down. Or, ill look into getting a different brand. Maybe LG, Motorola or whatever. Time will tell.
Or.....and this is a biggie for me....Apple! I just got a iPad 9.7" because it was such a good price $273. But i doubt ill get an iPhone. Still love what Android does over iOS and i use my phone more than a Tablet.

1000 Euros for the S9+ in Europe is ridiculous especially for a phone that will cost half in 3 months or so, phone companies are getting ridiculous with these high prices I bet sooner they will dig their own grave when the prices will be so high none will be buying their phones.

They didn't talk about performance because the snapdragon version is horrible compared to the exynos version.

The us market got screwed on the CPU as the rest of the world is getting a way better chip

I wouldn’t say it’s a missing feature more of a push to get people to buy the larger model to make more money.

That’s not a bad thing and has been done by other companies from Apple to TV companies etc.

The same thing was said about iPhone X also and Samsung is learning from Apples playbook about margins and pricing.

Once google release the Pixel 3 XL at this price point then that will mean a new page for pricing.

Innovation isn’t free

Lol do you wanna read again? I think I also mentioned the iPhone plus models doing the same thing. So yes, if you read properly you'll see it.

And you're now clutching at straws mentioniong Animoji as that's hardly a feature that people care about.
My argument here is that BOTH Apple AND Samsung's shouldn't be gimping their smaller models with worse cameras and saving the better dial system for their bigger models.

Back on topic, I like the colours of the S9, but wish they'd have gone for a couple of newer shades this time. A green one would have been welcome!

Pricing is $720 USD for the S9 and $840 for the S9+.

Pricing is lower than I expected because Samsung was rumored to hit the $900 range with the S9+ or even more. Looks like the Note 9 will go head to head w/ the iPhone's highest model this year price wise.
Oh wow, that is a surprise. Id do it for that but may still wait for the buy one, get one deal T-Mobile usually has. Wife needs a new one too.

Not from what I've seen. The hands on from Engadget, Gadget Match and a few others I've watched so far have all been positive. To be honest, Samsung did it better. The 18 or so gifs that also get saved is absolutely something I see people actually using. Emojis that look like the user is true customization. I think for many, the camera alone is worth upgrading from an S8/S8+. Checkmate to Samsung on this one.
