If you're going to pay 700 dollars more just for that have fun. I actually don't care about a stock launcher. Customisation is all what matters . Also if you're scared of the software, it's Android you can use any rom you want to have.

I can pay $250-$300 USD for the Moto X4. I can get the Pixel OG for $320 w/ 128gb right now if I wanted.

I wouldn't pay $700 for a phone right now. Look, customization is great. But at the same time, some of the lesser mainstream brands (BLU, OnePlus, Huawei) have me looking the other way. I don't want to deal with spyware, poorly supported software, and stuff that doesn't have a good UI.

I rather work with something good out of the box, thus the X4 or other Pure Android devices will do well for me. At least Samsung has features to offset a slower update cycle.

Seems like a big solid MEH to me, and they are charging more for what is essentially the same as the S8 in almost all aspects. The FP sensor is in a good spot but this isn't an upgrade, it's just a fixing of the DUH placement last year. I've been pretty happy with my iPhone X that IMO leapfrogged the S8 (and seemingly the S9) in design with no bottom bezel, and virtually no top bezel as it doubles as the status bar. I'm still hating the infinity display and the loss of screen real estate due to the curved edges.

But X looks ugly with the gigantic off center camera bump, thick side bezel and of course that notch.

Well it's pretty subjective, we all like different things. The S8/9 look ugly to me with the large top/bottom bezels, the screen robbing curved edges (which have bezels about the size of the X's) and the overall form factor. The notch has grown on me, and in fact I've grown to prefer it because it actually adds functionality in that the sides hold the status bar, versus the S8/9 where it has a "notch" that goes all the way from left to right.

Once again just my opinion, the S8 and I'm sure the S9 are tremendous phones, absolutely the best of the best, just not my cup of tea.

The iPhone X with smaller bezels and no notch would look killer but the notch alone is something couldn't look at everyday without kicking myself.
If Samsung go notch I'm done.

Looks like the gs9 is alot more powerful than the gs8!

I am so over benchmarking. Last year we watched a particular Fruit phone win benchmarks only to lose Speed and Battery Tests to every Android Flagship in an embarrassing manner despite its incredibly powerful "Bionic" SoC.

I just hope SaSung have put in even more of the Note8 software enhancements as they did a great job late last year.

I might get this device if there are good deals for it. Not really expecting much from Samsung software wise though.

It's either S9+, Pixel 3/3XL, iPhone X 2017, iPhone 2018 LCD model, or whatever T-Mobile offers promos for. My iPhone 8+ is raring to be traded in or sold at some point.
Get the iPhone.

I'm not going to spend that a mount of money on a Samsung when you know the S10 will be the one to get. Going for T2 Pro instead, never seen such thin bezels on a smartphone.

But why wait for the S10 when we all know the S11 is the one to get!? Then again why bother with the S11 when we know the S12 is coming!?

You might not be in to tech at all but according some patents the Samsung X (which it will be named) going to have an almost bezelles approach on all four sides. With camera and sensors cuts inside of the screen.

Not to sound negative as I totally understand your excitement over the Samsung X, but let's be real first :

I'm so into tech I can tell you now that having been a Mobile Tech enthusiast for the last 13years, and having kept a close eye on Samsung for at least 12 of those years, they will never make the first version of a device their main flagship as it will be incredibly flawed.

When Samsung first began playing with Curved displays we had the Galaxy Round, which was basically a Note 3 with a Concave Curved display (pictured below). We then had the Galaxy Note Edge which had a one sided Convex curved display, followed by the Galaxy S6 Edge which was the first truly usable Samsung with a curved display. It took 2-3years before it got to a point where it was truly mainstream, and many would argue that the Galaxy Note7 is where Curved displays were truly comfortable to use.

The Samsung X sounds great, but it also sounds like it's still very much a far-fetched concept that will be cumbersome to use, I guarantee that Samsung will make it a sort of limited availability device that will be the first mainstream implementation of this before they go and out it into the Galaxy S And Note series.

It’s beautiful. I like the lilac purple one. I can’t wait to read all the reviews.

Why? I am leaning towards the Pixel 3 or the Galaxy S9+ right now.
The S9+ will be out in a couple of weeks. Goodness only knows when you will be able to get your hands on a Pixel 3.

I’d been planning to keep my Pixel 2 for 2 years but I’ve got a daughter who is practically ripping it out of my hands. My husband has half lost interest in the S9+ after seeing my Pixel 2 in action during our road trip.

I can wait. Plus, I am not getting the S9+ at launch. I might cave in and get the S8+ though. I need to get my next phone on a good deal.

I'm curious to see what Samsung brings to the table with this one. Seems like a well rounded device.

Apple were claiming their FaceID was 3 years ahead of the opposition. Let's see if Samsung makes them eat their words.

A little bit disappointing, looks more like an S8++ also SE didn't change as much.
My guess is that the S9 sales aren't going to be a huge profit for Samsung, most folks will end up getting the S8 for much cheaper as it's barely the same :p.

I am hoping the software commitment to the S9/S9+ will be excellent. They’re promising 4 years of support for enterprise devices. Maybe 2-3 years for personal ones?

Time will tell.

I heard it's about Security Updates which they have been doing for a long time, S5 is still getting them.

Who here actually keeps a phone for 2-3 years???? That is why imo the device updating is so overhyped, system updates that is. Having said that though if someone pays these crazy prices for a phone these companies should keep them updated for a couple years at least.

Not my cup of tea - Samsung devices rarely are and I was not a huge lover of the S8 / + design.

These look exactly the same, except for the rear FPS and I am really quite annoyed to see them pulling an Apple like stunt, and making the larger device the one with the seemingly greater camera experience.

What is up with that?

I was just thinking these phones are looking the same in your Nokia thread! There is only so much to be done, yep these are rectangles! Yeah this is crappy if they are gimping the camera for the smaller/cheaper version
