I've purchased the S series for the past 4 years now but I think I might sit this year out. The Pixel 2 phones leave me not desiring to try another Android device til the Pixel 3.
That being said, I'm sure I'll bump my post in a few weeks stating I've pre-ordered the S9.
Lol, yeah we tend to do that around here.
My S8+ has been my favorite mistake. I often think I really never should have upgraded from my S7. The pink screen issue on my S8+ was a downer. The speed of updates was not that impressive. And it lags. The animations lag. The performance lags. It’s meh. And yet...I’ve had some incredible fun with it.
And I have to pause and remember what made me move on from the awesome Android phones I tried in 2016...stinky battery life...oh and a tendency to overheat.
Samsung seems to have licked that problem in 2017 as my S8+ is cool as a polar bear and has really good battery life. My husband begs to differ on that but we use our phones differently. In 2017 it was actually my iPhone 7 Plus that had poor battery life and a tendency to overheat.
I am really looking for some incremental improvements and if the rumors are true the S9+ will have the ones I’m looking for. It may be the Samsung I’ll be able to settle down with for a year and a half upgrade cycle.
I may not upgrade to a Pixel 3. It depends on how their trade in program works. Meanwhile, I can’t find anything I’m dissatisfied enough with to give up. I occasionally complain about the size of it but that’s about it. I don’t miss dual lenses as much as I thought I would. The Samsung-made display is solid. I think the frost white chassis is gorgeous. I have an automatic extended two year warranty on it. I’m going to get OS updates on it. I don’t know...it may be a keeper, for two years anyway.
Same with my iPhone. I’m loving what I have. I’m sick of giving Apple my money while they continue to actually remove features I like and care about. I will have to hurry in and buy a two year warranty, but that’s about it.
As to why on earth I’m on an upgrade path on three different phones, eh...y’all are bonkers, too, so it’s not like I need to explain that here.
