I can see this getting teased or more at CES in January but then not shipping for a month or so like late Feb or early March. I think to do that though only if they really decide to change up the S series, as has been rumoured in some articles as far as battery and modular designs.

Patent from May 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if Harmon has more input on the audio capabilities as well.

I'd like to see stereo speakers incorporated somehow in the s9. Better fps location. And dual cameras, please.

And don't pull no Apple/Google BS -- give all these features on the standard size S9 like Samsung always has for the standard model. Besides the obvious screen and battery size, there should be no other differences.

Would love to see a white color version, too, like the silver iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

They need to finally figure out getting the finger print sensor under the screen this time around.

Unfortunately all rumors point to fingerprint reader on the back again. If true, hope they re-position it.

All they gotta do is kill the top and bottom bezels and I'll be back on the Samsung train.

Something like this, early rumors.

my perfect smartphone 100% display front and edges.
10 years time 100% display front, back and sides. Maybe also folding with full screen keyboard in landscape mode.

I predict the s9 could be a refinement to the s8, just like the S7 was a refinement to the s6. So I'm predicting no major design changes for the s9 since the Infinity Display-look was introduced this year.

And I wouldn't complain. Just fix the obvious design flaw, the FPS location, get the dual camera module in both models (with double OIS for both s9 and s9 plus, please?), get better front cameras and sensors to keep up with Apple's Face ID, and get some stereo speakers through that Harmin partnership.

Boom, the S9.

Bonus points if they get the FPS working under the display.

Fingers crossed for that. Love what the dual camera can bring, but don't like the size phone I'd currently have to buy to get such features. Would love a dual camera setup in the smaller S9.

I hope Samsung keeps the tradition alive of a no compromise regular flagship model.

What's really next for the S9 though in terms of software? I am content with software I have now, but I am sure others can chime in one what they would like to see on the software end?

In terms of hardware, what's expected? New Snapdragon/Exynos, better battery life, higher caliber display, better dual camera system than the Note 8, 6gb RAM, smaller bezels, dual speakers with Harmon audio?

I am not in the S9 mix because I want to use the Note 8 for a long time to come.

My guess is some version of the animojis, no top or bottom bezels, dual camera, 4/6gb ram, 64gb storage, latest snapdragon/exynos, and some new finishes.

You think 4GB RAM will be the standard for the regular version or it will be 6GB/8GB to compete against the OnePluses of the world? Doesn't Samsung have some form of animojis?

I sincerely don't think we'll see a big redesign of the S9 from the S8. I think they'll carry the Infinity Display-look another year, with maybe the same curved-screen refinements they gave the Note 8. They'll redesign the back a little to accommodate the dual camera set up, and hopefully reposition the back FPS. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't solve the FPS placement this generation and just mimic the Note 8's setup. And they'll make the usual spec bump requirements; I wouldn't be surprised if they get exclusive first-rights to the next Snapdragon number.

Software-wise, I would say just keep finessing. Samsung has been doing a great job with the software over the years with each and every iteration. They give you added value features on top of an incredibly stable and customizable OS.

Lastly, I hope Samsung continues offering a no-compromise smaller model.

According to leaker Benjamin Geskin, the S9 will come with 128GB internal storage (plus slot) and 6GB of ram. Also logo is pretty much what you would expect.

So it might just be one model? The S9/S9+ will be refined Note 8's minus the S-Pen.
[doublepost=1508780958][/doublepost]I am not in the mix to get the S9 or S9+. I don't need the faster processor, an upgraded UFS storage speed (assumption here), a revised dual camera system, maybe slightly improved RAM quality, upgraded quick charging/wireless charging, improved biometrics, or additional features since the Note 8 is going to be my device for years to come.

I think Samsung will have a complete redesign for their galaxy s phones next year.
S6/S7 s8 designs are starting to look dated.

Can’t call it a redesign if it looks almost identical.

S8 looks like any other edge model. Just less bezels in the top and bottom.

But it already is one of the most popular smartphone designs around. It's not like HTC bezel phones or some other devices with poor aesthetics.
