I know many people all over the Internet are dismissing the S9 as the same old same old, but to me, whether it’s with the iPhones or the Galaxies or the Pixels, refinements are welcome. In the case of Samsung, I can definitely see that their refinements come from studying where the shortcomings are in the S8 design and seeing where the improvements needed to be made. This S9 and S9+ look great to me.Looks like the glass and metal on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are gonna be more durable.

Assuming I can get the logistics of a trade in of my S7 Edge done, the price will be right where I want it and I can simultaneously pass along for refurbishment a very nice phone that doesn’t get the full use it deserves. I am probably going to deal with Samsung directly again. I don’t really want to, but my husband does not want to purchase through AT&T at all and AT&T is charging a lot more for this phone. I don’t even know if AT&T will be offering a trade in allowance. I just hope Samsung’s trade in process doesn’t screw customers over this year like it did last year.
It’s a shame the smaller one doesn’t get dual cameras, but I can give Samsung the benefit of a doubt and attribute that to lack of sufficient space rather than them trying to force people to the next size and price class. I am questioning the decision to go with 4 rather than 6 GB of RAM, but with less battery capacity and a single camera and smaller display, it’s probably a reasonable compromise.
I don’t really see anything about the phone that irks me right off the bat. I suppose I will still prefer flat edges but there’s something subtly different between the S9 and S8 that helps me not be as bothered as I otherwise would be. Of course I’ll reserve judgement until I actually hold one in my hand.
