@jamezr, Well said and I concur, except I am having fun with Bixby. I ignored it on the S8+ but find it useful at controlling some basic phone functions and even combining some commands. It needs a lot of work but shows promise.

Because nobody is up to anything in my friend groups right now, it's just been me and my husband and family texting. So I can sort of use it as a daily driver. I haven't gotten much on the iMessage chats that required my attention. I've been using the messaging that came with the phone and loving it.

I've found it hard to go back to my iPhone except to check in for Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

It compares very favorably so far to the iPhone and the Pixel 2. I just need to test that phone on a call to my dad. The Pixel 2 is the current reigning champ for call quality.

I just switched to the S9 from an iPhone 8. I turned off iMessage prior to changing my SIM card but my wife can only text me via iMessage. Do any of you folks know how to eliminate this so I can get her text messages?
When I swaped my sim from my iPhone to my S7 edge, I would send a text message with the word "STOP" to 48369. Haven't tried on my S9+, but pretty sure it will work. I swaped Sims so often, I keep 48369 in Google contacts under the name "Deregister iMessage". Keep in mind, deregistering iMessage isn't always instant. But it usually worked for me not long after I send the text message

I feel kinda dumb but today...third day use use i discovered that when you swipe up from the bottom the buttons come up to use the back button . Since i had a S7 before it, i didnt know til it happened on accident but it makes me happier using the phone now :D.

I also use Zedge for custom sounds and the one i chose for texts notifications,...which ive been using for a long time does the sound randomly when im not getting a text. Hope it stops doing that. I use it for both Messages and Hangouts.
Lol! This and the Hard Press of the Display to use as Home Button really helps get over the lack of Physical keys, love it on my Note8, did not take too much getting used to.

Is the FP sensor that much more better though? How did the battery life regress with a better processor, revised software, etc? Intelligent scan is worth it too? What about the stereo speakers?

Yes the FPS is MUCH better then my S8. The battery is exactly the same as my S8 plus, after a little research it seems the new CPU is still using the 10nm process but is more powerful hence the battery life not improving. The stereo speakers are awesome, worth the upgrade alone if you listen to alot of videos/music without headphones.

I tried intelligent scan and iris scan, but only use Touch ID now. I like to look at my lock screen for the date and time, but it goes to my homescreen before I can see it when I use Intelligent/Iris scan. LOL. I think I like Apple's Face ID implementation on swiping up to go to homescreen if I want to see the lock screen. I prefer Touch ID on my S9+. I put my phone in my pocket in a consistent direction, so I can pull it out, and look at my lock screen for the date/time, or unlock while I pull it out of my pocket... and I'm in my homescreen fast.

Make sure Send as SMS is chosen on your wifes phone..

If you still have your Iphone 8, place your sim back in the phone.. Next, send a text from your phone to your wifes (with Imessage still disabled), if that works have your wife reply back. If you receive the reply back.. Swap the sim to your S9 and try texting back and forth again..

The above has worked for me :)

The Iris scanner caused progressively worsening eye pain on the last two phones I used it on so I am too chicken to try it ever again. I do use the face unlock feature sometimes but usually have it unlocked with my fingerprint before I can even lift the phone to my face. I much prefer to use fingerprints as long as the scanner works well. And this one seems to. But I do find myself wishing it were round like that of my Pixel 2.

I was taking some photos of the stray cat who visits me. The weather is bad so I let the ones who wanted to come in and hang out with my cats to visit and pose for me.

I find portrait mode on the S9+ to be the easiest to get pleasing results from out of my Pixel 2, iPhone 8 Plus and the Sammy.

Hmph. I tried to upload a picture but got a security error.

I hope the Coral Blue color is as good as it looks online. I think I will get the S9+ in Coral Blue by mid April or so. Unless a Note 8 deals come on by, I think the S9+ will be a good device to use for a few years.

Are you triggering it manually or does it do it randomly?
If manually, I could use this to great effect.
You can do it manually, too. I was doing slow motion recording of snow, which doesn't naturally trigger the feature as I discovered. It's the first day of spring and we are having ice storms and snow. South of the Mason-Dixon line no less.

In the settings you can set it to swipe up before unlocking to home screen or straight to the home screen. I have set it to swipe and it doesn’t jump right in as I like to see my notifications too. Try it.

Similarly to what @jplusc just stated in his last post; I usually try out the newest Sammy device for a few days and return it. And usually I know in the first day or two that I’m not going to want to keep it. However, 2 days in with the S9+ and I’m really enjoying the experience.

After using the Pixel and Pixel 2 for the past 12 months Android has felt like a blank canvas begging me to paint it. But I’m finding the s9+ to already be painted in many useful and intuitive ways. The Edge App thing has become very useful to me. The software feels pretty clean to me and I’m even finding the stock launcher to be enjoyable. I had expected to slap Lawnchair Launcher on it within the first 10 minutes. But I like the Samsung launcher enough to keep it there for the time being.

I’m beginning to think that I may be switching to this phone full-time. Wireless charging, the useful UX features, the gorgeous screen, AND the fact that I can do Advanced Messaging on AT&T with this phone where I can’t on the Pixel 2; is quite possibly a winning combination for me.

Glad that you are enjoying it! I also use the stock launcher on my S9+. I really find the stock apps to be a little better to be honest than on my P2XL

Thanks... I can't seem to find the settings. I hate having to ask questions like this in forums... but I've exhausted my Google searches. Would you mind mapping the nav steps in settings for me?
