Hi Everyone,

Loving the posts. I’m exhausted and had a very rough day helping teenagers freaked out by homework, life, puberty, and just everything coming at them at once. These kids are so inspirational with their determination to rise above it all but it is exhausting channeling angst out.

We don’t pay our teachers nearly enough. Just saying!

Just posting to say Hey! I love this forum. Y’All rock. We may not always agree on everything around here but I find the discussions and free exchange of observations, experience, opinions and perspectives very grounding and chicken soup for my soul.

This part of the forum is probably my favorite because even where we differ, we all at least have taken the step of either trying something outside of the Apple Ecosystem or at least are open to discussing it.

Well that’s about it. I’m too tired to contribute more than that at the moment. I’m going to read some ebooks on my S9+.

It’s all over the Pixel forums on Android Central.

I’m not bashing Android at all. I love it. I just don’t think it’s for me right now and what I need. There are just too many variables and at this stage in my life when I’m surrounded by my small army of kids, which basically run my life, I’m not really wanting to have to deal with “will this device be covered if it fails?” or “will these devices work well with each other?”

And trust me, I’ve been fighting this since December of 2015 when I decided to switch to Apple with the 6s Plus.

Umm what?! That is baloney. I use mine all the time and this is my 4th gear watch. I am on the android forums too and never seen such a thing.

Today is the day determining if I can use the S9+ long term or not. If I see any black crush issues or tap problems, off the S9+ goes back to Samsung. I think I'll buckle down for at least a month or two before buying another device because Samsung gives me problems.

Plus, 2 months behind on software patches already. Don't know what Samsung is doing, especially after lying about security patches.

Galaxy is not suitable for you if you bitch about updates.

Get the phone with built-in slowdown time bomb.

Unlocked s9+ exynos here, security patch March 2018. Personally I don’t think that’s bad at all.

Well, if my device has issues with the touchscreen, it's going back to Samsung no questions asked. Third time better be the charm or I'll wait until I find something within $500 or so.

I’ve got an absolutely stunning perfect display but there IS some black crush. It’s very modest compared to what’s happening on my Pixel 2. And I have to be in very dim lighting to notice it. Not all of the kinks have been worked out of OLED, yet. Which is part of the reason I will cling to my 8 Plus for as long as I can.

None of my phones is absolutely ideal. They all fall short in some measures. It’s why I operate them as a team and find it extremely difficult to go with just one.

If you read my VERY first post about it I referred to it not working with a Pixel.

That is not what you said. You said below:

I’ve seen numerous issues in the forums about Gear watches not being able to use the answer function for phone calls. So that’s out for me.

And the posts around that were discussing Samsung devices. So no, you did not say Pixel in relation to this incorrect post.

Why would Google need their own watch? Android Wear exists. Also, Samsung Gear watches are very compatible on Android phones.

One: warranties. Two: no matter what anyone says, not all Android Wear watches are updated at the same time.

And the Gear watches are nice but still miss some functionality with Android phones. And again, still don’t like Sammy’s warranty fun in the US.

Like what? It was just about fully featured when I used it with a non-Samsung device.

Please read that entire thing before telling me I don't know what I'm talking about. There's also another quote from @nvis22 that started my whole tangent on not wanting a Gear Watch with an Android phone and not wanting a Samsung phone because I don't like their warranties in the US.

So far, my S9+ is performing quite admirably. Time will tell if there are some black crushes or tap issues. The screen feels like it responds much quicker than my old S9+ units.

How is the s9+?
Very close in price (& size to the Note 8) any reason you did not consider that device? (Or even the s9)

You have used iphones before as well. How does it compare?

The Note 8 would cost me more than the S9+. I get dual stereo speakers, a faster processor, larger battery, Project Treble support, a nicer screen, a better FP sensor location, etc.

S9 regular is no go because it has only 4gb of RAM and a smaller battery capacity.

I prefer the iPhone X in terms of performance, FaceID. But Samsung wins in terms of software features, hardware, and form factor.

The iPhone X feels too narrow and the gestures aren't necessary since Samsung has virtual keys.

TMobile announced today and starting today they are sending out updates for the S9 and S9+. There will be some security patches and other bug fixes. The S9 update will he 343 mb and the S9+ will be 373 mb.
My guess is that comes from Samsung and TMobile does their thing with it before it gets sent out.

I like the X a lot. Just so expensive. The fact most apps cost, and that I like to sync via a computer, and finally it memorizes my apps and it is harder to transfer back to the iphone from droid is what killing me.
If I could mirror my phone X from my Samsung I would be happy.

Only problem I got is it does not transfer my music which originally came from Itunes. Or my call log (no big deal). It can do text and contacts which is great and pic and vids but I want my notes and bookmarks. That all has to be entered manually. (I swear this has been a tough decision) very tough.
