I checked it out as it’s 799 at Best Buy. I just don’t see the point. The external screen doesn’t have any real significant functionality. To really use the phone it has to be flipped open - at that point it’s a regular phone.
I don’t like also feeling like I have to be overly gentle with it. I want to be able to self replace the screen protector if there are any light scratches.
Essentially I wasn’t okay to pay 800 dollars to be able to flip a phone open

I returned mine as well for pretty much the same reason. The screen feels and IS very fragile. Once winter hits I am fairly certain that the cold outside then heat inside will put the thin glass under too much stress and then crack. I am sticking to my iPhone 12 Pro Max and will use my upgrade for the iPhone 13 in a few weeks……

Haven't even got mine yet, but been paying around with my buddies for the last 3 days. I'm totally on board, in fact, my buddy has said he plans on trading his in for the Flip 4, lol. I'm feeling ill do the same, unless the Fold 4 draws me in. Koodos to Samsung for taking the initial hit into bringing this tech to market, and to bring the prices down to mainstream prices. And Koodos to all those consumers who took the leap and stayed with the shortcomings of new tech. Without an OEM taking the chance of introducing new tech, and the consumers who take that chance with the OEM, the mobile market is void of innovation, as the market has plateaued for a while now.

I'm not sure if I will upgrade to the iphone 13. I also already owned the note 20 - so I really didn't see the added value. Once I set the phone up. I just felt like I wasn't getting a new experience with the flip. Just opening and closing the phone. It just wasn't worth it to me. I did end up getting a new case for my note 20. I also have a 12 pro max fyi

So T-Force got me all squared away, I really can't recommend them enough if you're a T-Mobile customer. Don't even bother with chat or phone reps. They sent me a shipping label right away and I dropped the phone off with UPS this afternoon. I should get my money refunded once they receive it. Interestingly, this will also end my JUMP lease on both my old phone that I upgraded and the Flip. So I guess protip for anyone on Tmo who wants out of their lease, just upgrade your old phone then return the new one ?‍♀️

Even though it was very disappointing to get a defective unit, I'm sure it was just a fluke. My luck has always been if there's a single defective item in an entire shipment I WILL be the one to get it. It may have actually been a good thing in the end too- when I preordered I went with the 128gb cause I didn't want to wait several weeks longer for the 256, but I was really kicking myself for not just waiting for the higher storage. Tonight while browsing around the Best Buy site for something else, I found out my local store has a 256gb black unlocked in stock. I'm calling that fate lol. Purchased online for pickup tomorrow ?

I was afraid if I get flip phone Id get tired of flipping just to use it. I almost pulled the trigger.

I'm still actually quite astounded at how good this screen is.
Samsung panels are great anyway for visibility and brightness etc, and they're a joy to use. But the fact this one folds in half is a little bit mind-blowing to me still.

I know my previous post was saying how I'd probably end up selling this on for the newest iPhone or Pixel 6, but I actually think I'd be sad when I do. I really love the phone and love how unique it is!

Why not keep it then?

When I tried to do a preorder just for kicks, I remember being confused because it sure as hell looked like I was going to be charged for the promised free extended care contract so if I were serious I would not have clicked for the free extended care. Since I wasn’t serious about preordering, I shrugged it off as a glitch as preordering is almost always a glitchy mess for me. They really need to fix their app and their web site.
I agree they should indicatethat the price would come off

Just manhandled the Flip 3. Boy it's a really solid-felt device. Samsung really did a great job on the new hinges. It felt quite sturdy. The more boxy design also makes the whole device felt like a really solid phone. Would've loved to own one if I had $1k.

Here's hoping Samsung would do an FE treatment for the Flip. I wouldn't mind a plastic back ala S21 and a lesser/older SoC if the price is down to ~$500 or so.

Been really tempted to get this in replacement of my iPhone 12 Pro. Has anyone else jump shipped and not regretted it?

Bingo! I think that's what consumers and tech reviewers are forgetting when looking at these foldable devices... we harp on the negatives and compare it to standard phones. Like how the cameras don't compare to the S21 Ultra or 12PM, how the battery isn't as good as standard phones. But without Samsung, Huawei or even RazR (Microsoft too)... there won't be any significant progress in the smartphone space.

I totally understands, foldables aren't for everyone. But being a tech enthusiast, I like when OEM try to do something different.

Not quite the same but I sold my iPhone 12 and got the S21+, no regrets but I have had as many androids as iPhones at this point so it wasn't a big change.

I really appreciate your response. Don’t know if you are but I’m quite deep in the Apple Ecosystem, iPhone, Apple Watch, HomePods, Apple TV and an iPad. I think the biggest issue of moving to android would be losing the compatibility of the Apple Watch which I love more than my iPhone.

Apples iphone event coming up on 14th Sept. I'm not sure whether to get the Z Flip 3 (which is the most intriguing phone on the market right now) or the 13 Mini + Apple Watch 7...

You seem to have a lot of iPhone's judging by your signature so I say get the Flip 3.

This is me minus HomePods. I just ordered the flip 3 after being on iPhones since 3G. Still a little hesitant but I think it may be good to have something different.

did you get the flip?

I replaced my 12 mini with a Z Flip3 purely out of curiosity. I had no real desire to switch to Android when I got the Z Flip3 and wasn't expecting to really enjoy One UI. After a few days of settling in and customizing to make myself feel more comfortable, I've grown to be really happy with One UI and what it has to offer. Android isn't as "gross feeling" as a lot of us iOS users seem to paint it in our heads. Also, the hardware is just so darn cool. I'm loving it and I'm selling my 12 mini. I was planning on jumping into the 13 mini, but the Z Flip3 changed that and I'm really happy with that.

13 mini and Apple Watch 7 all day every day, you’ll get over the novelty with the flip, plus there is no substitute for that A15 beast, iOS, ecosystem all working together in perfect harmony.

If you do get the flip, make sure you can get a refund, just in case it doesn’t live up to your expectations.

What other devices do you have? Samsung let's you try the Fold and Flip for 21 days. Try it for 2 weeks and see if you like it or else return it. iPhone 13 may have a nice faster chip but do we really need it at this point? What apps are going to take advantage of it haha.
