Battery been a bit rubbish for me again today. It's been really sunny here today, so my auto brightness has been setting the screen to near max for most of the day.

That aside, I have found a really neat use for the folding screen whilst baking! I have a baking business, and screenshot a recipe I wanted to try last night. Today, I folded the phone to 90degrees to prop it up so I could look at the screen as I went along and it shoved the picture up to the top screen with a touch pad on the bottom 'flat' section to zoom, move the image! It was so handy! And very very smooth.

A screen grab probably doesn't so it justice but thought I'd share it anyway!

Can see me using that a LOT!

I ordered a clear case off Amazon and got a message today to say there was a problem with my address... It's the same address I've always used but the case is not out of stock... So not sure if that's the issue.

I may try and nip to the Trafford Centre tomorrow and go to the Samsung experience store (shudder) to pick up a case. I don't really like the official ones though... But there's literally no other options!

Thanks for the consistent updates, @Aneres11! I found a really awesome little trick that takes advantage of the folding display! I was organizing and cleaning up inside some cabinets and drawers and I needed some light to see what was in the back of the cabinets. Usually when you use your phone as a flashlight, you have to find a way to prop up the phone so it doesn't fall and still gives you the best amount of light. Because of the folding display, I can have the flashlight at any angle while still sitting flat. Such a little thing but so incredibly useful.

Nice one!
Speaking of flashlight, one thing I forgot to do but enabled the other night (not flip exclusive) - is setting a double tap of the power / lock button to toggle the flash light on. :D
I use this every night now as I am always the last to bed when all the upstairs lights are off, so I can actually get up the stairs and see where I am going haha.
I've done this with other Samsung's, but always find it a useful feature!

Oh, that's smart! I would do that, but the double press of the power / lock button is and always will be the best way to launch the camera. I was in iPhone land over the past two years, and until my Z Flip arrived, I'd still double press the power button to launch the camera from time to time out of old habits! Haha. I changed the phone quick toggle on the lock screen to be the flashlight. It's not as convenient as pressing the power button. I've heard that within Good Lock there is a module that allows for button customization. I might see if I can map one of the volume buttons to turn on the flashlight or something.

I popped to the one in Norwich today and after first checking all the other phone shops for alternative cases I ended up buying the Amarid one. Very nice but ridiculous price.

Does anyone here have the official clear case with the ring? If so, does the bottom piece stay put or does it slide off the phone?

Strange comparison... of course it's going to be 2x the thickness of an iphone or another phone when folded. It folds in half onto itself so that's to be expected?

The Z Fold is great an all but I could argue the same for the Fold's external screen - which is too small still to be truly useful when one can't open the phone fully. Trying to type a text message on that outside screen with an adult thumb - nightmare.

It's a valid complaint IMO. Look at the surface duo and how thin they got that. Granted part of the thickness is also the folding screen itself, which needs a radius less than a complete fold, hopefully technology will advance and that radius will get smaller and smaller. The duo was also a larger phone overall with an increased width to fit more components, so I'm not saying it's apples to apples, just an example.

I'm probably in the minority, but typing on the outer Fold screen was awesome for me, at least one handed. I found I could actually reach all the letters one handed. But more so I switched to swipe, which worked quite well one handed. 2 handed typing yeah it was not great, but again swipe came to the rescue.

When i try to sign up for the 1 year of care plus it says my imei is invalid, i purchased directly on samsungs store. Went round and round with support they are claiming.

J
During your purchase of your Galaxy Z Fold3 5G or Galaxy Z Flip3 5G device you will need to opt-in to add Samsung Care+ which will be added to your basket, along with the discount at checkout. If you do not opt-in to add the Samsung Care+ benefit/discount during your online purchase, you will not be able to access this benefit/discount later.

Just to confirm did you select this option at the time of purchase?

Which was not an option. So this whole routine is kinda screwy

I've been wondering about this too - I've tried in the members application and nothing. I've even got the website to accept my IMEI, but it continues to the point where I have to pay for it.

They ate saying you had to add it to the cart when you bought it and it would have not chsrged you. So basically they are saying now we have to pay for it. That was not the case no where did it say that

You're right. It absolutely didn't say that when I was checking out. Although I know I was hurrying through the check out process, you'd think it would've been a little bit bigger. Sucks.

Anyone have a clicky screen? I noticed a couple days ago that mine makes a popping sound on the right side when I run my finger over the crease. Everything works and visually it looks fine, but it feels like there's an air bubble trapped under the screen. It's been getting louder since yesterday too, at first I had to put pressure on that spot and listen closely to hear it, now it pops when I'm just scrolling normally. It's like the screen is detaching or something.

I took it to the T-mobile store today and they said it's defective, but since I ordered it online I'd have to call CS and exchange it through the mail. Can't do anything in the store. So I called in and they said they have no replacement stock right now and told me to call Samsung. I called Samsung, who confirmed that my screen definitely should not be popping, but since I ordered it from T-mobile all Samsung can do is let me mail it in for repair which will take several weeks. I called T-mobile back to see if I could just return it and repurchase, but now there's an issue with the IMEI not showing on my account so they have to escalate the issue and call me back tomorrow. Really not happy right now

Been two weeks now with the Flip. Still a really great phone to use. Been impressed with it!

There are some oddities, however. Some bugs that I am noticing daily.
Firstly, notifications. I keep getting the dot on the left hand side of the outer screen suggesting I have a notification, but when I double tap and slide over, I get greeted with "No Notifications". Bit annoying.

Other bugs I've had, well Instagram is a nightmare. Every time I open it the app freezes until I swipe left to add a story and back again, and then it seems to unfreeze it. Lol. Very strange but happening every time.

Clock. Same thing with the clock app. I use timers a lot, so whenever I open the clock ap it's often on the timer tab. I want to move to alarm and it's just frozen up. Another odd one. Often have to force close it and reopen.

One thing I also don't like, but it isn't a bug, is that the camera app remembers your last setting. So if I was taking a portrait photo of my dog and snap it and come out of it, hours later I can click camera again and it's on the same setting. It's handy on one hand but annoying on the other. With iPhone, because apps NEVER stay open or remember anything (which is mostly a bad thing) at least you can always have a fresh shot and not have to fiddle to go back to a normal photo setting.

I will be honest. The draw of new Pixel or new iPhone is heavy. And this phone was never going to stay the course past those. I decided to go for it due to the £500 trade in for my 12 Mini which I no way would have got private. Not with fees on top etc. So seemed like a win win.

I do like this phone a lot, but I'm even tempted to try the Xperia III until Pixel rolls around. I equally love and hate this time of year.

Contact T-Force on twitter. They usually can help cut through all the BS the reps tell you on the phone.

When I tried to do a preorder just for kicks, I remember being confused because it sure as hell looked like I was going to be charged for the promised free extended care contract so if I were serious I would not have clicked for the free extended care. Since I wasn’t serious about preordering, I shrugged it off as a glitch as preordering is almost always a glitchy mess for me. They really need to fix their app and their web site.
