Well i can't find anything to spend this £100 voucher on, I could in theory get the Watch 5 44mm & trade in this Honor band 6 i have sat around doing nothing for £50 if they accept it as a smartwatch that is, which would bring the price down to around £139, then sell my Watch 4 i currently have would then offset the remaining cost, plus free Galaxy Buds Live to sell them aswell.

Nice! It sort of reminds me of the iPhone 8 Plus color.

Is this your first foldable?
No sir. Had the Fold 2 since launch… didn’t upgrade to the Fold 3 because features really didn’t interest me (really wanted a better camera). I understand foldables aren’t for everyone... But it sure is fun to have.

I did quite a bit of customizing on my Fold 2… so it’s going to take quite a bit of time to get everything set up. But I will update on my first impressions.

Got my fold 4, watch 5 pro and buds pro 2, so far so good.

Fold 4:
Really enjoying the phone so far. The screen looks phenomenal, I actually really like the narrow form factor for the outer screen, it's perfect for 1 handed use to quickly text or change songs. I was expecting garbage battery life since that was my most recent android experience, but was pleasantly surprised when I still had 50% left after 4hr of SOT with video streaming, music and email. The inner screen is pretty amazing, and once unfolded it's like an iPad mini on steroids, everything is fluid and multiwindow implementation is much better than iOS, and the half folded mode is great for watching videos since it eliminates the need for a stand.

Watch 5 Pro:
Now, I had very low expectaions for this one since the last Samsung tracker that I used years ago was prety meh and prior Wear OS devices were awful. However, I actualy LOVE this watch, it's much beter than my Apple Watch 6. Went for a 2.5 mile walk this morning wearing both so I can see how they stack up and Samsung did great while consuming far less battery. What I really liked was the fact hat Samsung automatically paused my walk tracking anytime I stopped for even a minute whereas Aple Watch continues to track my non-existent walk unles you're stationary for a good 5-10 minutes. I also did a 20 minute high intensity workout with a VR app and Samsung calories were far closer to the app total compared to Apple Watch, which was much higher. With that being said, the best part is the battery life. I'm sitting at 69% copared to 43% on the Apple Watch after a full day.

Buds Pro 2:
Pretty much Samsung's AirPod Pros, same seamless pairing with Galaxy devices, fits better in my ears and sound quality and spatial audio seem very similar. I'm not an audiophile, but overall it seems like a fine set of earbuds, no complaints at all.

Do you use a case with your Folds? Debating on going caseless, with a skin on mine.

I just received my Watch 5 Pro (Gray Titanium) several hours ago and I really like it. I was expecting more of the same coming from the 4 Classic, with just some slight spec improvements. This actually feels and looks like a different watch line. The watch is noticeable thicker, but feels noticeable lighter on the wrist. I'm impressed with the gray color too. And I'm very happy with almost double the batt life of the 4 Classic, and fast charging. Samsung did a good job with this one.

The only sacrifice is the rotating bezel. Replacing it with a touch bezel isn't bad at all, but there's nothing like rotating a physical bezel.

First Impression…

Before I start… I thought Smart Switch was going to be a smooth transition, but I believe it’s lacking as far as Good Lock oversight. I had quite a bit of themes, icons and colorways that didn’t transfer. Along with all the settings I applied with Good Lock modules. I don’t use any launcher because I prefer OneUI and Good Lock helps with all the customization for it. I believe since Good Lock is part of Samsung… it should be included in the Smart Switch transfer.

Build

As far as context… I’m coming from the Fold 2 and I could tell immediately the weight of the Fold 4 being lighter. Holding it feels different… Fold 4 being slightly shorter than the Fold 2, going to take a few days to adjust to it all. I do like the matte finish on the back, didn’t really care for the Fold 2 glass back. I think by having a matte finish helps with the grip. Definitely like the beige color… it pops and looks premium. I’m coming from the black Fold 2 and I really wanted something different this time around. Happy with the choice I made.

Set Up Process

As noted before I started… Smart Switch didn’t really transfer my Good Lock settings. However it didn’t take much time for everything else to transfer. But for some reason I couldn’t do it via cable… I had to use WiFi, so maybe it would have been much faster if I did by cable.

Software

Well, here we go. Now first thing first… Auto Rotate seems broken right now especially after I wake the Fold up. For instance… when the display is off I’m currently in landscape mode, but when I tap the screen, it’s in portrait mode. And I have to change the orientation almost every time. Little annoying, but nevertheless had to bring that up.

I wanna start discussing the taskbar because I’m a current Fold user… but this taskbar is new to me. So I wanna give my thoughts on that. But first let me acknowledge that I do like the concept of it. It reminds me of how the iPad works.. with drag and drop. However, I think Samsung needs to apply setting to adjust the height and icon size. Because right now… it’s too small.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Settings app always restarts when I go to a different app… that needs to be fixed. But as of now… I have taskbar set to show and hide (I like the animation to this). But I do wish they give us at least one more app for the recent apps (set to only two right now). And I noticed pin option to Edge Panel is gone… I suppose taskbar is that replacement. But would be nice to have them both.

And on the topic of Edge Panel… Samsung needs to stop being lazy and give Fold users the option to download more Edge Panels the same way for the S series. It makes absolutely no sense at all… to give us the Edge Panel, but not allow us to download additional ones from the Galaxy Store.

Well, that’s pretty much it. Haven’t done too much in the camera department…. Haven’t messed with the S-Pen that much. I might plan on buying the S Pen Pro for the Air Action feature. But I’m happy with the purchase… looking forward to what Samsung does going forward with OneUI for foldables.

No, I prefer the feel of the phone. My thought process has always been smartphone engineers put so much thought into designing a phone… such a shame to cover it lol. I started doing that back during my iPhone ownership (but I put skins on them). In addition to that, a case adds bulk to an already bulky phone. And I was going to put a skin on my Fold 2... But never got around to it.

Never crossed my mind about doing the Smart Switch from the PC. I guess I’ll try that on my next go around… have you had any doubts about trading your S22 Ultra for the Flip?

I'm still holding strong LOL though I've had the Fold 4 in cart a few times hehe

But it really makes more sense to go Flip on this one ...

The deal in the US would be a no-brainer but all we get is a year of Disney+

I am really tempted to get it, to try something new. iOS is getting boring but I think I would be getting annoyed leaving my iCloud Photo Library and the Tweetbot App behind. Also all my Accounts use an Hide my Email and let’s not even talk about all my passwords being in the iCloud Keychain so yeah I am basically tied to the Apple ecosystem.
OneDrive is your friend, I always ensured that my photos and videos from iOS devices and Android devices instantly uploads to OneDrive as well which allowed me to keep the regular Apple family plan w/ 200 gb cloud since I have 2tb with OneDrive and a 512gb iPhone. You can still add OneDrive now to your iPhone and get everything transferred in and then add the app on your android phone and voila; your photo library is at least intact. For passwords, etc, Google has alternatives.

The haptics are great on the Fold 4. I haven't used the Fold 3 in a while, but don't remember them being this good.

Never used the Fold 3. But everything feels solid with the Fold 4… I’ve been eying this device for so long from checking out the rumors to get an understanding what Samsung plans to do. And now it’s here… I’m definitely pleased. I’m anxious to go on a family trip to test out the camera.

I believe you was interested in the Galaxy Buds… Have they arrived? how‘s the experience?
