About to head to bed and finished the day with 8 hours of SOT. It was what I consider a busy/demanding day including 40 minutes on a Team's meeting in outdoor daylight with the full screen open, lots of email, messaging, calls throughout the day, and catching up on YouTube reviews/comparisons with the Pixel 7. No gaming at all in my daily life but I have up to three apps open sometimes. Majority of the time was with just the front cover display. AOD active, 120Hz enabled, standard performance. I love the Fold 4!

That's excellent. Do you tend to have very good signal strength throughout the day?

Yes, I usually have very good reception with Verizon. I wish I could manually disable 5G though, I don't need the extra speed and would rather have the extra battery life with 4G.

There is dialer code you can put in to get to the settings for that. You just change it to a network that has LTE but not NR

UPS showed up last night.

Love the aspect ratio on this thing.

Paralyzed on what case to get though.

I've noticed the Fold 4 wifi and cellular reception isn't quite as strong as my previous iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro.

Standing in my driveway I am able to get strong wifi6 with the iPhones and can remotely close my garage and lock my doors by phone. With the Z Fold 4 the driveway poses a challenge as the wifi is super weak to connect to the garage or smartlocks but not weak enough to automatically switch to cellular.

While driving, and on a Teams meeting, I encountered two weak cellular spots on my commute that interrupted my meeting call. The iPhones never dropped the meeting call through these same areas.

The reception on the Fold4 is still good, just observing that it's not as strong as iPhones. My Fold4 case is slim and the same thickness as my iPhone slim cases.

There are so many variables and scenarios that come in to play here :)

You will see this type of thing happening with any make of phone and many times even between different models of the same brand

eg a posting just today:

" received my new iphone 14 pro 2 days ago from Verizon.
My voice could be barely heard when on calls using Carplay with the iphone 14 pro.
This was never an issue with my old iphone 12 mini.
Switched to 16.0.3 last nite. Sound issue is improved but not resolved.
I spent time on the phone with Apple today and tried all the suggested fixes turning off wifi calling, cellular data.
Apple technician said this is a known issue and encouraged users to submit reports. He said a fix is in the future
but not immediate. I am considering returning phone and switching back to my iphone 12 until issue is fixed."

I was an early USB-C user and there were even inexplicable differences between dongles where Apple would not work yet Samsung did even though I was using a MacBook, all odd

I think your just unfortunate and one of these irregularities is occurring and finding the root cause is near impossible and not necessarily your Fold 4

Many well respected users here of dual OS's like Grumpymum will praise Samsung for it's call clarity over her iPhone, sometimes it's just luck of the draw or in your set of circumstances unlucky :)

waiting good discount buy
I'm curious... what do you consider a good discount to entice you to buy?

I bought mine during preorder period when I received a $1k trade in deal along with free S-Pen case... then there was a discount to the 512GB model.

Wow you got it good.
My network operator gave me a hefty £400 discount plus an extra £250 on any trade-in (I sent them an old Note 8). I then got the free Samsung Note Pack and the Buds 2 Pro. So all in all this phone ended up costing me about the same as any other flagship.

Umm.. I got it good? Not quite sure about that... you traded in a Note 8 whereas I traded in the Fold 2.

But what's a Samsung Note Pack? And did you receive the Buds 2 Pro for free?

The Note Pack comprises of a Samsung case, fast charger and S-Pen. This along with the Buds Pro 2 were free but I wasn't upgraded to the 512Gb model Fold 4 like you were. I have the 256Gb variant.

Although I like the Samsung Internet browser better than Chrome, I get about 1-1.5 hrs more SOT with Chrome. I tested with exclusively one browser each day and, averaging 3.5 hrs of browsing each day, I consistently get longer battery life with Chrome.

@sunking101, you reached over 8hrs SOT with the Samsung browser. Have you tried Chrome? If so, do you get even more SOT?

Anyone figured out how to get the app drawer to scroll vertically instead of horizontal? I swear this was an option somewhere in good lock on the f3 but can't find it on the f4.

I haven't used Chrome for years but if it noticeably increased my battery life I might swap back...

I don't believe an option to vertically scroll exist in Good Lock... that's one of the reason users move to different launchers specifically for that option.

Thanks and I've read elsewhere too that the Samsung Internet browser is more efficient than Chrome, but so far it's not turning out to be the case (at least not for me).

I think the Fold 4 has great battery life, but my best results have surprisingly been on days where Chrome is my exclusive browser. I am giving the Samsung browser more opportunities to get back in the lead but so far it's lagging Chrome by 1 hour SOT after each full day.

Strange that. I might have to give Chrome a trial run.

Yeah, it would be tough for me to move away from Samsung Internet Browser to Chrome.

Samsung has been incredible with providing a feature rich browser and Chrome just doesn’t do it for me…. especially when it comes to ads.

If anyone has been looking to get one of these, now is the time on Samsung.com. Using the education discount, I can currently get a 512 GB version with NO TRADE IN for $900. Thats a crazy deal.
Am I doing something wrong? I just checked and can't get it down to $900. Interesting that the 256GB is more expensive than both the 512 and 1TB options.

Umm... not implying you are wrong, but could I see a screenshot. On my end, that $900 price tag includes a TRADE IN. Might have been a glitch though, because that's ridiculously wild.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it myself. Tbf though, I'm not interested in buying another... just curious as to how that price is possible.
