Yeah it is nice to have the Alternative section here on MR. We can discuss Android and other things here. Most of us own lots of Apple products too and iphones. So we use both mobile OSes.

Ah So...Thank you for the reply. A question if I may? Can I install the google chrome app then log into my account with Google and download my bookmarks etc from my windows lap top, that I assume is the host, to the SE?

Nice to be here.

Am I missing something? Why is there a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 thread on an Apple forum?

I own the Note 8 and have just purchased the iPhone SE as a source device for the Oppo HA-2-SE DAC-Amp. That is why and how I came across this forum. Very surprised to find the Note 8 being debated here? I don't recall ever seeing an Apple thread on an Android forum? Very adult civilised behaviour. Not generally the way between Apple and Android brands. Nice to be here.

Can Chrome be used on the SE and can I log into my Google chrome account and download all my favourites etc?

I would reserve judgement on "adult civilized behavior" until you have been here a while. There are some real nut jobs in some of these threads. Personally, it is entertainment to me when people take such one sided dillusional positions about tech, when they've never touched the thing they are talking about.

You can run pretty much all of the Google apps on iOS. Just download them from the App Store and then login. Should work fine for Chrome.

Thank you for the kind reply. Like you I purchase what gets the job done.

I will watch out for the trolls. Thanks for the heads up though. Are they in season yet?:D

Yes and yes.....If you use chrome and log into your Google account. You will have the option to import and sync bookmarks across devices. I do this myself. I use chrome on all my Apple devices. I also use Google for calendar and contacts so it syncs those services across all my devices no matter whether it is Android or Apple.

Anyone regularly using the Iris Scanner? Each time I do it seems to get even faster.

I just used it a few times to day to unlock and it unlocked without my eyes even lining up to those 2 circles. It feels like the phone is constantly learning and getting faster with this.

I'm surprised Reviews have not done a deeper dive on this feature. I use either Fingerprint or Iris to unlock, oftentimes I use the FPS as I unlock the phone as it's coming out my pocket, but sometimes if it's already in front ofr I'll use the Iris scanner and each time I do the latter it seems to react even faster

After reading this I just tried it and it is fast... Works better than face for me. And I have glasses.

https://m.gsmarena.com/iphone_8_plus_vs_galaxy_note8_blind_shootout-review-1672.php

I took that photo blind test yesterday and went B-B-B-A. But after checking the third photo again today, I went with A. So 50/50 between Note8 & 8 Plus.

I don't like Samsung's white balance and that yellowish tint especially indoors. They beat LG and Apple in dynamic range but not in white balance.

That third photo is a perfect example on why I find Samsung cameras overrated. Mediocre dynamic range on LG but I prefer the colors on most of it especially in low light.

Have to say, I am so happy with my Note8. None of these weird issues like crappy displays with a weird hue, or heavy colour shifts or even burn-in.

It's just chugging along daily without a fault.

Just waiting for Oreo now.

Is there a way to put a customised message on the lock screen like you used to be able to so with samsung phones, besides using the S-pen.

I mean like this

I see it’s already dropped down to £770 on Amazon now, and on import you can get it for around £660. The value for money is starting to creep in as I knew it would.

I wonder if you’re better off buying through amazon with regards to warranty rather than Samsung themselves. Amazon cs is second to none usually

In terms of sales and after sales-customer care, Apple makes Samsung look like they are from the dark ages! Though I have purchased every Edge mobile also Note and presently own the Note 8 Samsung's after sales and customer services are an industry disgrace.
ANY other brand that develop's a smartphone with a pen will get my attention. Samsung have some serious lessons to learn in the way they distribute their mobiles, how Samsung themselves sell them to the public and as for the after sales care its abysmal.
Shame they make such superb smartphones! Purchase from a reputable outlet or Amazon. Do NOT purchase direct from Samsung. They subcontract their sales and distribution.

Yup same here. iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows, and even Linux, are all synced with my Contacts, Calendar, and Chrome browser from my Google account. Nothing beats it.

Yep, the Pixel 2 XL is having burn-in and colour shift issues, while the V30 also has colour shift issues.

I am just finding it funny that people were so quick to declare the Pixel 2 XL the best Android and the V30 the best Android for video when it turns out their Primary interaction point: The Display is of poor quality.

Well I think you have it backwards. Most mobile phone makers sell their devices through the carrier channel. The carrier then handles customer service, support, extended warranty, etc.. Apple is the exception, in that they have their own brick and mortar stores, and they do have exceptional support that no other brand can compete with. The other alternative is buying through a carrier reseller like Best Buy who offers their own support. My point is that Samsung is no different from every other OEM other than Apple.
