Not at all.

Note8 is showing that is a great device over those.

I agree. I think there is some general hate for Samsung that is unwarranted.... at least with their current products. I experienced a Galaxy S5 back when that was current and hated it. The Note 8 is an amazing device. The hardware is top of class. It doesn't remotely resemble anything Apple has made so no complaints of copying. The software Samsung has added compliments the device and the experience and makes it unique. Not much to dislike other than little nitpicky pros/cons types of things. In addition to the anti-Samsung slant, there are also people that have a desire for the pure Android experience, and that is fine. Personally, the thing that would make me be very leery of a Google device is that they are just farming out the hardware to other companies.

Yep, the Pixel 2 XL is having burn-in and colour shift issues, while the V30 also has colour shift issues.

I am just finding it funny that people were so quick to declare the Pixel 2 XL the best Android and the V30 the best Android for video when it turns out their Primary interaction point: The Display is of poor quality.
But the N8 is not without problems either to be honest. No phone is....
Then most reviewers have said the Pixel 2 is the best Android phone you can buy.....even with the issues you pointed out.
The primary interaction point is the FPS.....to unlock a phone.

The Note 8 is a great phone.....there is no need to put other phones down to prove the Note 8 is a great phone.

How strange is it that reviewers have not properly reviewed this feature? It's brilliant!

After several days of using the iris scanner, I really like it. When I have it in the right place its instant. I even used it last night in the pitch darkness and worked instantly. Every once in a while it takes a few seconds because I'm not positioned right but I am in the process of moving my finger to the FPS when I pick it up anyway so one of the two will unlock it... its a great combo for quick one handed operation. I didn't have much luck with the facial recognition, so loving this change.

Iris scanning is going to be great all winter long. No need to remove your gloves to unlock your phone.....just take it out of your pocket and look at it :)

Agreed.

I to have noticed a lot of Samsung hate around here.

Do you know what is hilarious? If the Note8 had the V30 and Pixel 2 XL issues, the people who are praising those 2 devices would be absolutely trashing the Note8.

Anyway, it is what it is.

Indeed! I am also using this combination.

I have never bothered with Face Unlock, and after seeing Apple's FaceID demo fail, I doubt I ever will bother with Facial Recognition, I think Iris Scanning and Fingerprint Scanning are the best and most reliable as well as the most secure.

I use the face unlock over the IRIS scan as I find it much much quicker. Face unlock is instant but IRIS scan is hit and miss for me. Number 1 method of unlock is still fingerprint for me though.

I found face to often take way longer than iris. With iris, if it works then its pretty instant. If not, my finger is already on the FPS. Also with face I wasn't sure what to do if it didn't work. With iris, you have a clear target so if you are off you know why... thus it self trains you to get better at it. Amazed that my glasses don't seem to hinder it... on or off.

I havent tried the iris or face unlock on my note 8. The fingerprint scanner is fine for me All these issues i read online and i picked up the device and my finger rest straight on it maybe its the small handed people out there who dont like it.

My only gripe is the camera. Its a good camera for landscapes but for people i am not that happy with it. It is bad at skin tones. selfie camera makes u look lik a ghost. And the rear camera does the same also by blowing out skin tones.

But then again, you have to take your gloves off anyway if you want to use the device :p

The good thing about iris and FPS together is that the first one to get there unlocks... its a race. I am now pretty close to in the habit of doing both at the same time every time I pick up the phone. No matter how good you are there are misses with both. By doing both, you decrease the misses.

I've not reached final conclusion on the camera. My indoor pictures in the evening aren't that great, but I am guessing they weren't that great on the iPhone either and because the screen on the Note 8 is so incredible its more noticeable. Outdoors and in good lighting they all look great to me.

I have found Bixby not quite as good on the S8+ and Note 8 as the G assistant. I'm sure YMMV though :)

I haven't used G assistant much. Can it do the deep integration with the phone like Bixby can? If so, I will need to try it out. I use that in Android Auto for sure.

to be honest...i haven't tried Bixby in along time. I know there have been updates to it. Maybe it is time to give it a try again :)

My first time checking in to this post. The pixel 2 xl issues have me looking to other devices should the 2 xl not live up to my expectations.

Those who have had S8+ and Note 8, can you comment on your experiences, which you preferred, why you preferred one to the other etc...I've never owned a Note but I played with one yesterday and it's quite nice looking. I loved my S8+ too.

There are a lot of comparisons between the S8+ and Note 8... you said you had an S8+. The big differences are the camera, S-Pen, more RAM, and newer version of Samsung environment. Otherwise they should be pretty similar.

Ouch. £50 a month is still bad.
Nah not really

I get free Spotify which I used to pay £120 a year for, that basically makes my bill £40 a month. Plus I get 32gb data which is decent compared to what a lot of rival networks were offering.
[doublepost=1508871909][/doublepost]
I see it’s already dropped down to £770 on Amazon now, and on import you can get it for around £660. The value for money is starting to creep in as I knew it would.
iPhones really do hold their value longer than Samsung's

Depends what you doing, if it doesn't involve typing you can just use the SPen.

If I am not mistaken modern Samsung's switch to Glove Mode themselves if the display senses it though, but typing may still be difficult. I could be wrong though!

I feel the same, face unlock is instant for me, Iris scanner always tells me to hold the phone a certain distance away.
It's probably something I'm doing wrong but I don't care, I want it to open near instantly, I don't want a learning curve.
The fps is mega fast.
