Agreed.

I to have noticed a lot of Samsung hate around here.

Do you know what is hilarious? If the Note8 had the V30 and Pixel 2 XL issues, the people who are praising those 2 devices would be absolutely trashing the Note8.

Anyway, it is what it is.

I am new here. To date I am amazed how civilised this forum is. I have not seen any hate in any form whatsoever in fact to find an Android thread on an Apple forum shocked me to my roots! o_O

Forums will have some characters who are inflexible or down right confrontational, its a cross section of society after all that write here.

I am a Note 8 owner also just purchased an iPhone SE and the help I have been offered here is second to non.
I will write this, I know of no major Android forum with an Apple thread...

I already feel at home here and would like to thank those who have made me welcome. I hope to be able to add a little in the way of Android devices as I partake this new journey into IOS. Its a steep learning curve for me with my mature years (old!)
I have only opened the Apple box today and am listening to music as I type this post. Audio is an area I may offer help as I have been purchasing HiFi since the 70's and know a tad about sound reproduction.
The little SE produces a nice sound quality that I would like to write about when I have warmed the system up.
Initial impressions are positive with a variety of headphones.
Lets see how it performs with the DAC-Amp set up.

How did you download it?

Where did you find the link on the website please?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4129862&d=1493368208

They don't install as a package though, at least not for me. I installed the fonts I wanted individually.

Glad you feel that way:)
But the ignore function is a good way of dealing with people when they do seem inflexible or down right confrontational.

I saw in Settings-Display-Font, after the font listing there is a "download font" on my S8+. Is it not there in note8?

It on the lower left of the main post, attached files. It's a zip file. Inside are individual APK files per font.

How is the speaker quality? Obviously being single I’m not expecting exceptional, but is it solid for multimedia purposes?

Do you sell your old phones? I don't think of the tech I buy as an investment, so would never include that in a purchase decision.
I usually do - they typically fund my new phone purchase!

It'll be interesting to see how the Note 8 and Galaxy S8 hold their value. Something tells me they'll retain value a lot better than their predecessors.

Grim even by Samsung standards. Its crazy because the Note 8 has a very good DAC and gives, for a mobile, a very acceptable sound stage. OH that external speaker though. The Note 8's weakest point is the external speaker. Nothing is perfect though.:)

That’s unfortunate. That might be a deal breaker for me because multimedia sound is important on a phone now that I no longer have my iPad Pro.

One shouldn't, it's a piece of tech, it's going to lose value regardless, unless it's a once off or a 1st of a Series etc etc...

I've never sold an old phone. We usually give our old tech away to less fortunate people that need it. The other day I wanted to take my mother's old iPhone 5S, to test an app a client was working on and it turned out she had already given it away. Although I have kept my old Note 4 and S7 Edge as I am still not sure which I want to keep as my backup phone

For a laugh, I just played the same clip from YouTube on my Note 8 and S7 edge and the Note sounded punchier and a touch louder.
I know that's not scientific but I have both device here in front of me. Unless the S7 edge was considered crappy, I couldn't say it sounded rubbish.
I'll try again right now...
Yep, the Note is louder and clearer to my ears..

If speaker is that important to you, skip all samsung phones. My only gripe with Note 8 is speaker at the moment. Whenever I want to watch youtube video or something similar, I use headphones. Speaker is terrible when compared to HTC, iPhone or even OnePlus 5 :(

The speaker is definitely not a strength of the Note 8, but I find it acceptable. I mostly use it for speakerphone calls and its fine. If I want to listen to music or something, I'm generally going to use earbuds, headphones, or Bluetooth speakers.

I've never listened to music on a phone's speaker. Never wanted to. YouTube someone's though but I don't feel like I need superior audio quality for that.

Ok so my first issue, it has only happened twice but still odd.

My screen sometimes has an odd almost luminous twinge to it. For example the Yellow snapchat logo looks almost green when it happens.

As I said it has only happened twice and a quick restart of the phone sorts it right out but it is still a bit annoying.
