That's a good looking device. Looking forward to the reveal.
Let's hope so on both counts. I keep accidentally hitting the Bixby button. I am not signed on to Bixby so this is annoying me.Is it me, or do the corners of the screen look less rounded than on the S8/S8+?
Plus, the Bixby button seems to be missing.
Yeah, I really hated the placement of the Bixby button, almost everytime I went to turn the volume down I hit it by mistake and it would take me out of what I was doing to the sign up screen.Let's hope so on both counts. If money were no object it would be a no brainer to get this and pass my S8+ along to somebody else in the family, if only to get dual lenses and less curved edges. But money is a consideration and I developed an interest in the IPhone 8, so I have to make a choice unless something changes in our projected budget.
I'm still inclined to keep my S8+.
A Note 8 in Orchid Grey would be really hard to pass by, though. I'm so loving the Orchid grey of my S8+. It hasn't gotten old for me, yet.
The S7 is such a great phone. I'm actually going to rotate back to it at some point. It's durable, has a fabulous display, is a wonderful size, is very capable. It also does even better than my S8+ in recording clear stereo audio. I just don't get the best battery life out of it. Initially I did but I think I've fried the battery a bit in VR. I kind of regret that.Yeah, I really hated the placement of the Bixby button, almost everytime I went to turn the volume down I hit it by mistake and it would take me out of what I was doing to the sign up screen.
I've been good so far this year, only one new phone so far, and I got it at discount (256gb iPhone 7 for $450 after trade in). Unless apple screws up I know I'm getting the 8, but right now on the android side I'm looking at either the Note 8 or Pixel 2, but if they both disappoint I may even just keep my S7 for another year or possibly try to get some other phone on the cheap (like maybe the v30 or g6)
Same lolSigh. Didn't think I'd want it. Now...thinking about a "better version" of the S8 Plus. GAAAAAAAH
The curves are much more conservative and I like that. I would rather there not be any curves at all, though. But at least this is better. That's going to be one heck of a phablet. I mean that in an admiring way.Sigh. Didn't think I'd want it. Now...thinking about a "better version" of the S8 Plus. GAAAAAAAH

If Samsung takes my S8+ back in trade I might think about it. But I won't be preordering anything this time around because I only did that with the S8 for the freebies last time and I don't need any more free stuff.
Nor am I in a rush to upgrade. Last year for my 50th birthday/combo 20th wedding anniversary and the BOGO deal we preordered the Note7s. But this year is a regular birthday and regular anniversary and we don't observe those, so no celebratory Note 8 gift this year. Instead I would hunt for a massive discount well after the debut.
For the Note 8, I would hold out for reviews on the battery life, the cameras, quality control issues, and I would hold out for color choice. I want Orchid grey again. I love this color so much it's practically a must have "feature" for me and I won't part with my S8+ if doing so means goodbye to this color. That's frivolous, but so be it.
I also want to see what Apple is doing with the iPhone 8. I have some doubts how that will turn out because the rumors are so bad right now and they are pretty consistent in saying Apple is not on its A-game getting this model together and ready for prime time.
I'm definitely skipping the Note 8. I have been quite underwhelmed by the S8, and whilst I like the stylus, I personally don't want a curved screen.
The iPhone 8 may tempt me, but it's price will probably be the biggest barrier in me justifying the upgrade on my iPhone 7+ 256.
I think I'll likely go for the Pixel XL 2 however Google are reluctant seemingly to sell Pixels here, so even that may be a delayed purchase.

I think you covered the difference that we know about. There might be more but we don't know yet. What are the new features for the note 8 apart form the dual lens camera and the 6GB of ram and a 0.1 increase in screen size from the s8 plus. Is there anything else being speculated.
Also do we know what type of dual lens camera set up it will be. A telephoto lens or a wide angle lens?
Thank you.I think you covered the difference that we know about. There might be more but we don't know yet.
The only thing so far other than the S-Pen that makes me consider the N8 over the S8+ is the width and camera. it is supposed to be slightly wider..... Don;t know much about the dual lens feature yet.
yes...that is why I will probably skip the Note 8 this year. I have a soft spot for Samsung and Apple phones...but this FPS madness Samsung is on is going to make me think twice before getting the N8.That FPS is going to be impossible to reach.
Samsung needs to figure this out in 2018.
