What obsession? I just want the latest OS on my phone. Even if it's a couple of months afterwards I'm ok, but not 8 months which is a ridiculous time frame.

Why would you want the equivalent of iOS beta which is what bleeding edge Android O currently is as a daily driver? Only when the Pixel and Nexus guinea pigs stop reporting issues then O is fully baked for general release.

I never said I wanted the beta of Android O. But I do want the final version when it's released to the public and I think getting it within a couple of months of the general release isn't asking too much.

I agree. A few months is acceptable, and even understandable.

Wow, 6.3" screen. Well not truly 6.3" because of that 19.5:9 aspect ratio. that's right you read that correctly. So the trend towards narrower and taller phones continues ridiculously on. It would be interesting to me if it wasn't for the $1100 price, eek. Hopefully there is a BOGO right away like last year.

Don't think it will be $1100. Most probably around $800-900 range like s8+ when it was released.

Sigh. Last years BOGO for the Note 7 and subsequent recall resulted in my getting the S7Edge free for a two year term. I wish that Note 7 were still with me instead of the S7 Edge. I wouldn't have bought the S8+. I'd still be on the Note7. That was a beautiful phone and fun to own before I got the second replacement one that kept overheating.

I like that they squared the edges more. I'm not sure they've made the display flat enough to suit me and my current obsession with flatness. I'm more drawn to the S8 Active rumors at the moment. But it looks to be an improvement over the curves on the S8.

Ugh, not sure if I should pull the trigger or keep waiting for the note 8, $425 for an unlocked S8 by trading in my Note 5 is really tempting. What are your thoughts?

Doesnt seems like a good deal to me.

Market rate for a used note 5 is about $200-250.
Market rate for a new s8 is about $600

You should be paying maybe $350 for the phone after trading in your Note 5.
(Maybe the extra $80 is the "hidden cost" 0% financing over 24 months)

also, you can get brand new (resale) S8's from Swappa (at least in the US) for around $500. So they are dropping like a rock due to all the bogo and deals Samsung is offering.

Just keep an eye on BBY. They've been doing 2-300 off the unlocked with regularity, no trade in required. It's 150 off right now. They also have the coral blue which is exclusive.

Well, this is much simpler and faster. But yeah, I guess I should at least wait until after the Note 8 and Pixel 2 are released.

I'm looking forward to this announcement. I was thinking of picking up the S8 plus but I decided to hold off as it's so close to the note 8 and I know I'd want that. The announcement is on my birthday so I'm planning on getting it as my birthday present to myself.

So here's something I'm wondering. I believe that the S8 Plus is the first S line with a screen bigger than 5.5". So that being the case, will that phone cannibalize sales of the Note and vice versa? It would seem the chief differentiator between the two will be the stylus.

Bigger screen, better camera. The stylus seems to be a big deal and differentiator, too. There are a lot of software features that the s8 models don't have thanks to the stylus.

Great News, 3x optical zoom and camera features unofficially confirmed. :D

Can't wait to have this come to the s9!

I thought i read somewhere that maybe 5% of Note buyers use the stylus. Main reason for purchase was screen size compared to other phones at the time. Can't remember where or timeframe I read it.
