This video says otherwise.Maybe. Sammy's ram management is more aggressive than the other OEM's. 6gb won't make a difference if their software doesn't accommodate.
This video says otherwise.
I might get a gear s4 to complement the Note 8 if I like what the Gear S4 is about.
They announce one every year around IFA (end of August / beginning of Sept) I think. There have been a few patents here and there but nothing in the rumor department.Off-topic, but has there been any rumors regarding the S4? I assume one is coming eventually, I just haven't heard anything. I'm loving my Gear S3 Frontier!
That video doesn't really tell us anything, quite frankly. It's entirely possible they tweaked RAM management for that 6gb device. The fact that it's 6 vs 4 isn't the difference. 4gb of RAM is plenty for everything you could throw at a modern day smartphone. S8 Plus's RAM management is different than the Pixel's, and you can see it when switching apps. Also, the model in that video uses the Exynos chip vs S835. That may contribute to the difference in management as one of the reasons you try to control RAM is to avoid overheating the battery. Exynos probably does a better job on its own in that regard.
I personally haven't had an issue with it because my own needs don't require a billion apps open any given session but I know it's a sore point for some users. Bottom line: I wouldn't assume 6gb automatically means RAM management flies. It *should* but it all depends on how Sammy leverages it.

So here's something I'm wondering. I believe that the S8 Plus is the first S line with a screen bigger than 5.5". So that being the case, will that phone cannibalize sales of the Note and vice versa? It would seem the chief differentiator between the two will be the stylus.
part of the problem with the new ratios is it makes for a very narrow phone. The smaller the screen size the harder ti gets to operate a phone that size. If they kept the screen size 5.5 with aspect ratios of the S8(+) it gets to be a very small phone and harder to use imhoIMO probably not, mainly because of the bezel sizes we now have smaller "big" phones. The Note 8 with it's 6.3" screen will still probably be smaller than the ip7+. It seems like we continue to shift into needing larger screens, not everyone but certainly a large consumer base as both the 7+ and the S8+ outsold their smaller brothers.

I was talking about two hands. The phone becomes to small and narrow to hold and use.Size is a moot point if you use with both hands. If you use single handed, big size is not an issue if you work around it. I use something like button savior that shows a non intrusive vertical floating nav bar that contains home, back, task and notification. With this I can grab the phone more towards the middle of the phone and those buttons are right next to my thumb.

I just got the Samsung S8+ Today 6.2" vs the Upcoming Note 8 at 6.3" Did not seem that big a deal and After 2 year of Owning the Note 5 I can do without a Stylus. Plus look at the details.
Galaxy S8+ 6.2" 3,500mah battery
Galaxy Note 8 6.3" 3,300mah battery
What is Samsung drinking, I guess they had to make Room for the Stylus Somewhere.
I was gonna wait but No money down free upgrade an $19.80 a Month Sure beats paying $35.00 a month and a $100 VISA gift card.
Here it is side by side with the S8 and Note 8.
Does seem a little tall to me but probably just as tall as the S8+

Any idea if the Note 8 will still work with the Dex dock..thats a definite requirement for me as well. Also, if the note 8 battery is actually smaller than the plus..it would be very hard for me to even want to switch.
I don't know about the S8+ but the 7+ did not outsell the 7.IMO probably not, mainly because of the bezel sizes we now have smaller "big" phones.
