Its a shame we don't have a designated bluetooth earbuds for the note 8

Has anyone tried the Powerbeats 3?

The second generation Gear Icon X ear buds are as dedicated as you'll get for Samsung phones. The first gen had horrible battery life, but the second generation fixes that issue. I'm sure they'll be on sale considering it's the holiday season.

My AirPods are much more flaky with my S8+ compared to when paired with my iPhone 7, so I agree they're not the best match for Android.

I had AirPods with my S8 for a couple of months and they were 99% rock solid.

Only very occasional issues.

Update to my previous post, regarding the issues on return my note 8 to Samsung.

Essentially, it has taken 2 weeks, hours on the phone, a string of emails between myself and Samsung's "Office of the President", and Better Business Bureau complaint, and officially opening a case with my state's Attorney General...just to get them to send me another return label (yesterday).

I am returning the phone today, along with a typed letter, and other valid information.

The best explanation for this mishap is that Samsung lacks the infrastructure to provide a even semi-decent customer service experience, and at worse Samsung simply doesn't care. The Office of the President literally could not tell me the reason for the original return rejection.

This is enough to make me swear off ever buying a Samsung phone again (even from a carrier), as well as any Samsung product period. I own several of their appliances, and I believe the electronic/mobile division is a separate company. Unfortunately, I have lost all trust in the brand, and for better or worse, I will be avoiding them in the future.

Is there any app to improve the battery life on the phone?
My phone used to get awesome battery life but I've noticed if I browse the net for like an hour 15% of the battery life is gone....

I know no one cares at this point, but I am posting it anyway.

The second return label they sent me....it was invalid. Fedex wouldn't accept it. It was a previously used label (not be me) from several months ago.

I care! And actually, thank you for posting this stuff. It's helpful when assessing where to order devices from. This will give me pause before jumping on any deals directly through Samsung.

You are obviously free to make whatever choice you want on what you buy. But for the benefit of others in this thread, the lesson is not to buy direct from Samsung. I assume you didn't buy your appliances direct from Samsung and you were happy with them until this phone thing. As an analogy, if you tried to buy a car directly from the automotive manufacturer (vs. a dealer), then you might find it frustrating if you had an issue and had to go back to them for support. If you bought it from a dealer, you might be very happy. Samsung shouldn't sell direct if they can't support direct, but personally I would have never gone down that path. I bought it at the carrier and I will go to them for support.

Question for other Note 8 owners. Up until a couple of weeks ago, when I pulled down the notification shade, on the top row were my connected Bluetooth devices. I seem to have turned that off and can't figure out how to turn it back on, so have to hit the Bluetooth icon to go into that screen to see what is connected. Anyone know how to get this turned back on?

Was it the Samsung Connect app? check that to see if it's notifications are on.

Try opening the Samsung Connect app. Toggle the bluetooth devices off and on. Then see if it shows up again, if not restart the phone.

I'm not positive, but I don't think this had anything to do with Samsung Connect. Regardless, Samsung Connect had notifications turned on already, and played with some of the toggles in Samsung Connect with no change.

Device has been restarted a couple of times so that isn't it; and did try toggling on and off Bluetooth.

I haven't been able to figure out a Google search to even look into this. Is it a Samsung Galaxy thing, or is it in all Android devices?

Try "reset network settings". That might work. You'll need to pair all your BT devices again, and enter WiFi password.

Did you figure this out yet?
I have never noticed this...?
[doublepost=1513025668][/doublepost]Maybe someone has the answer to this...

When I am on a call and phone is on vibrate which it normally stays on I get no notification alert. It appears on the screen and in the notification window but I don't get the vibration. However if I change it to sound I will get alerted but I'd like to be alerted via vibration.
Makes any sense?

Before I do that, which would be a real pain since I have a lot of things paired in cars, watch, audio, etc...

Is this thing I'm talking about a Samsung thing or an Android thing? I have very little Android experience, so just assumed this was normal until it wasn't there.

I never even seen this feature.

I'm still just not quite sure what you are referring to. I'm very familiar with Android so maybe it's just a Samsung thing. But with my time with the S8 and Note 8 this year, what you describe seems like Samsung Connect. When I had those phones and don't remember seeing anything in the notification panel (other than the BT quick toggle) that showed my BT devices other than Samsung Connect.

Info said:
Enable/disable quick connect: You can have the option to quick connect to devices in the quick settings box all the time (it's on by default). This will scan for things to connect to and offer devices that are found, like your Samsung TV. To turn off the option, open quick connect, hit the top-right menu, and turn off quick panel connect. If you want to turn it back on, open quick settings, tap the Finder search box and scroll down. There you'll find the option to scan for devices.

Touché. That is a valid point.

The appliance division of Samsung is a separate company, I believe. Their customer service is pretty great, from my limited experience.

In terms of the Note 8 return saga...they have sent me 3 invalid return labels, thus far. They keep sending me the old shipping label that has already been used.

I’m still fighting them. We will see what happens.

My wife and I will only buy unlocked phones. So, with this experience, that leaves the Pixel and iPhone lines (for the most part).

I won’t buy another Samsung phone again, and it will be a long while before I can buy a product from them. They make great products, but I’d rather give my money to someone else at this point.
