It's cool to see MKHBD make the Note8 the MVP but then uses a Pixel 2 XL as his daily driver. He can differentiate between best all-around and his personal favorite. I was actually surprised Jon Rettinger saying Note8 was his favorite. That's cool.

Last week when I forgot my debit card at home, I did begin to miss Samsung Pay a little. Apple Pay and Android Pay just can't compare. For my work flow, I have to use TWO phones at least and Apple Maps is like my iMessages. I only use Google Maps and Apple's and hate Waze.

If Apple Maps was available on Android, I wouldn't be using iPhone. But since it isn't, I'm forced to because Apple Maps gives me another option in case Google messes up. I'll just do what Jon Rettinger and Jaime Rivera does and uses iOS and Android at the same time.

If the Note9 is pretty awesome with that Synaptics in-display fingerprint sensor AND faster iris scanner, it would be hard to ignore it. I will skip the S9 because I know it's a guinea pig and not the real flagship.

Consensus this year for best is - Pixel 2 XL, Note8, and iPhone X.

In 2018, I would be looking for -
Pixel 3 (three variants)
iPhone X-design 6.1" (I want metal back)
Note9

Google with Apple or Samsung with Apple for me. Samsung has better all-around hardware than iPhone and Pixel. Headphone jack and microSD slot is important to me and Samsung still offers both. While Google and Apple is for smoother software experience and longer updates.

It's usually going to be between Pixel, Note, and iPhone for Top 3 best every year. Then LG V-series is in the shadows. Galaxy S-series is the first-half flagship for Samsung. Then the budget friendly comes from OnePlus.

You are literally the only person I've ever heard say they love Apple Maps over anything. What exactly do you like about it?

I'm more curious why someone would feel they're forced to buy a phone they don't really want "in case Google messes up". On the rare occasion it might, there's a ton of other apps you could use as a one off.

Nope mine are fine, bu to did notice that the main Camera is slightly larger than the 2nd one, when checking this now, lol, which makes sense.

Yeah same here.
I have seen some that are off center a bit....
Was just curious if anyone else noticed it....

Curious, which Messages app do the Note 8 owners use? Thanks, Dave

I used the default for a couple of months and liked it, but currently been using FB Messenger for a few weeks as an experiment to see if my iPhone owning friends and family like it to interact with me.

Honestly why are you here?
well this is the Note forum is it not? So where else would someone post about the Note being named phone of the year by one of the best most popular phone reviewers on the internet?

:rolleyes:You know I meant on this forum. Pretty sure you never post anything negative about Samsung, Google etc. on other forums focused on their tech.

Happy holidays anyway.
I don't think it is appropriate to question him like that. Everyone has a right to their own choices. He has the right to post anything he wants. The this is the alternative section and in the Note 8 thread.
If you don't like what someone has to say then you have the choice to ignore that person and move own or just not visit the thread (like the Note 8 thread) if you don't like Android phones.

Many of us have different devices in our homes. personally I have had every iPhone since the beginning. I have a 8 Plus, Note 8, Pixel 2XL and just returned an iPhone X because it was just too small for me.
Most of us prefer one device or another based on need or personal preference. Then we post here accordingly.

Can we all just please stop praising the Note 8 and start saying how crap it is and how Samsung phones will blow up and how it's a laggy mess after playing with it for 10 seconds in a Verizon store and how it's a waste of money because it isn't an iPhone - PLEASE.

This is what this forum is all about after all.

Whatsapp is the most widely used world wide, along with Facebook messenger. Both are owned by Facebook of course. That being said, Google Allo and Google Duo combination is wicked for messaging and video. I use that combo strictly for family. Then I use Whatsapp, BBM, and Telegram for friends and work colleagues. I can't imagine restricting myself to just one messaging app when there so many possible people to communicate with. Nonetheless, you should still find out why you and your daughters can't see pics when messsging each other. Not normal at all. I've never had issues receiving and sending pics from iPhone users using the stock messaging app.

Something is broken... Not sure what. That should work, albeit with lower quality images than if everyone had an iPhone. You can use one of the other messaging apps that were suggested, but they will need to use it too.

Buy an iPhone X, nothing else works as good and is as easy to use with messages, plus you can use have FaceTime with them as well. All the other apps said are for teenagers.
