I'll say it again. The Note 8 is not as good as other phones with the same size battery. It is not a dodgy app. I've monitored the battery and apps and there are no apps that are killing it. The V30 out lasts the Note 8. It's Samsungs software that is hurting it most likely. It maybe good for you, but it isn't as good as other devices.

I've attached my screen shots. I gave it an extra charge earlier today so it would last me through the evening when I do a lot of youtube videos, and reading.

I have to agree. Love my Note 8, and it gets me thru the day, but barely. Other phones out there do better. I get about 5-6 hour of screen time at most.

To keep their screen mint. If you buy a good protector it doesn't affect aesthetics or touch.

I never use a screen protector, and the Note 8 is the ONLY phone I have which has not shown scratches after a year. Is the glass better than older phones?
[doublepost=1533120795][/doublepost]Warranty in India is usually a fight to get, but I was pleasantly surprised with Samsung. My phone was on the next seat when my flight landed, and the phone flew off under the seat in front when the pilot braked. Asked the guy in front to hand it to me, but he had already stepped on it. Screen broke. When I had bought the phone, there was an offer for a free screen replacement within a year. Got it done in a day with no issues.

Never keep your phone on an empty airplane seat.

With competition stiff, the indian market is saturated with Chinese cellphones, Samsung got to keep its customers happy, the last I know Xiaomi opened more factories in the country to build phones and every 1 sec 2 phones are produced. With folks calling their rural family members every night phones are essential tools. No wonder they are No 2 phones market of the world.

Just ordered the wife a new note 8 for $99 CAD upfront to replace her note 5. I know for what she uses it for she will love the upgrade

I'll likely skip the Note 9 this year and keep using my Note 8. I bought an unlocked S9+ last month with the idea that I would skip the Note 8 this year and use these two phones. I alternate between these two as my daily phone and confuse my coworkers. I bought the Note 8 on launch day.

I really don't use the cameras all that much but I did use the Note 8 camera for the first time a few months ago and I was very impressed. Makes me want to use the camera more but I haven't. I don't think I've even used the S9+ camera once yet.

For what anyone uses a phone for it will be a great upgrade.
Haha yea for sure. I had actually ordered one last year and returned it because the gaming performance on a couple games was behind my old iPhone and I do a lot of mobile gaming myself

But I know they’ve made some more software improvement since then and our new game is PUBG which I know it plays well, especially on the snapdragon variant so I know she will be more than happy with this one. She actually uses my old 6s plus to play pubg because her note 5 struggles with it

The camera, in my amateur experience, on the S9+ is a decent upgrade from the N8..esp in low light

Your post kinda read like "The N8 will be fine for the wife's uses; a bit of Facebook and some SMS etc" like it's a hunk of outdated cr@p.:p

Agreed, Samsung improved in the correct areas in terms of Note8 to S9+ camera quality, Low Light always needs improvement and will be a work in progress for a long time in Smartphone photography.

But was the front camera improved on the S9? From what I can make out, it's still the same quality as previous Samsung phones. They always lack detail, especially compared to a Pixel. One area I wish Samsung would address. I'm not a big selfie taker but take them when traveling in front of landmarks etc.

When I dropped the phone, it almost instantly rebooted and when it came back on, that text message was back on the screen because I hadn't read it from Friday.

I'm not making any decisions yet on what I'll buy or when. I wasn't planning on spending any money on a new phone.

Selfie camera is what I hate the most on my note 8 it’s terrible. Even the rear I don’t know what’s up with Samsung and skin tones but they don’t mix. For photos that don’t include people it’s a good camera.

Mostly I found the rear camera really good but compared to a Pixel it struggles with certain things. Pet pictures comes to mind, it doesn't have the detail, especially indoors.

I got the screen on my Note 8 replaced today. Local shop did it and they did an excellent job. Now I have no problem keeping this phone another year.
Is it the same quality as the original? Did you get them to put a new battery in at the same time?

The shop is an authorized Samsung repair center and a sign inside says they use authentic Samsung replacement parts and from what I can tell on my new screen, it is original and has the same fingerprint resistant coating.

I didn't get the battery replaced because my battery app shows the capacity as 98.91% and it works just as good as it did on day one. I'm not worried about the battery.

Fair enough. If going to the trouble of.opening one of these things up I would always drop a new battery in but then I always pass my old phones onto family members. Needing a new screen would be a good opportunity to get a new battery but I would have longterm use in mind. Glad to hear the display is as good as the original. Are there any signs at all that the phone has been heated up and prised apart? Any scratches or dents? I'm always fearful of needing service on these sealed, glued together phones!

The phone is absolutely perfect for a launch day phone. It looks like it just came out of the box today. When I was looking at it before I left the shop, I discovered that I didn't remove some of the plastic strips protecting the corners and top and bottom edges of the phone when I unboxed it.

There are no signs whatsoever that I had the display replaced. If I were going to sell the phone today, I would see NO point in telling the buyer that I replaced the display. They would never know.

I plan on using this phone another year. It's been absolutely perfect.
