One last thing is I'm not entirely sure that Samsung isn't the worst, do other vendors truly take 8+ months to release new Android OS'? I'm genuinely curious as I really only have experience with Samsung in owning an Android phone long term.

This might be the answer to your problems. And Samsung is included as one of the manufacturers.

Oh, cool. Maybe I misheard. The official video made it sound like the S-pen being waterproof was new.

Yea, that confused me too at first. I guess they recycled that feature as being new, since the battery became an issue before most could even purchase.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Hmm at £869 it's one expensive phone, however it could prove to be an absolute bargain if the iPhone 8 is a grand or more Plus!!!

It looks nice, but for me it's a luxury consumer device now. Still can't wait to see the cameras capabilities! Shame it lacks stereo speakers? Unless I'm missing something?

I'm hoping the S9 will get redesigned a bit to include the dual cameras, better FPS location, and stereo speakers.

Did not see any mention of it for the Note 8.

Project Treble, coming to a Galaxy Note 8/S8/S8+ near you, in April 2018! By that time, several here would be talking up the S9 and want to move to that.

Show me on the doll where Samsung touched you.

I am only stating a prediction based off the past. The Snapdragon Galaxies in the US see major updates in the Q1 of the next year. Still a long ways to go for big 4 to deliver some updates to carrier models.

Yeah I think they missed a trick this year, great designs but those HDR screens are crying out for stereo speakers. Then again we have no idea if Apple will squeeze them into the new iPhone either..
I don't imagine the new iPhone wouldn't have them when the 7/7 plus has dual
Speakers. It would be a step back. Anyway as much as I appreciate the speakers on the 7 plus I can forgive Samsung on this occasion.

The iPhone 8 will cost more. It always does.

I love the design of the new Galaxies less and less. "Long and thin" isn't what I want out of a screen I interact with. However this phone probably, feature-wise, checks every single box I can imagine having short of dual speakers (which I don't care about that much). I think Sammy has the nicest looking Android skin now, even prefer the look of it over stock.

No, the iPhone doesn’t always cost more. The last few gens of Samsungs costed more than the iPhone spec vs spec.

But this is the iPhone 8 we are talking about, the most premium iPhone on the market. If the Note 8 is $930, the iPhone 8 is going to be $1000 or more. I am going to go LG V30 or LG G6. These prices are crazy. I hope Apple proves me wrong and goes with $850 before any T-Mobile promos and T-Mobile can get me the iPhone 8 for $500 with a trade in of my SE. If not, I am going with the G6 in all likelihood.

I wonder if they used the exact same S-pen as the Note 7. Cause I still have two S-pens from returning the Note 7 twice.

Dual camera is looking sweet.

The new S-pen is waterproof, so maybe not?

The S-pen on the Note 7 was waterproof as well.

"The Note8's stylus hasn't changed significantly from the Note7's, which didn't change significantly from the Note 5's. While it now supports an impressive 4096 pressure levels, it's still the same passive design, and physically all but identical to the one in last year's phone. As usual, new S Pen features are in tow. Now you can create animated GIFs of short drawings to share in messages (neat... I guess)."

Not sure what to do here. Not really interested because of the larger, taller display and fingerprint reader placement, but as a Note 7 owner I can get $425 off. That's almost too good a deal to pass up.

Where did you see the Note 7 owners can get $425 off? Is that for all people that owner a Note 7? What am I missing?

EDIT:

I found it
Those who purchase the Galaxy Note 7 in the United States will be able to trade-in their existing device for a value of up to $425 which can be put towards the purchase of a Galaxy Note 8. Samsung is going to reveal more details about this promotion on its website once pre-orders go live tomorrow. It’s going to release the Galaxy Note 8 globally on September 15.
