The feature that allows you to launch two apps immediately into split screen mode is brilliant. You can pair up any apps you want that support split screen into a single icon.

Android should do this.

MKBHD demonstrates it at around the 3:25 mark. He calls it his favorite new software feature:

Same price here in NZ as Note 7, $1599
I think I'll pre order, I wasn't going to but I want a new phone...
Give the S7 edge to the missus, throw the Note 5 in the drawer as a backup :)

I can't resist a note. I would have got the note 7 last year in the end but it wasn't to be. Anyhow shall be pre-ordering tomorrow as I only bought the iPad Pro a few weeks ago so have to wait until tomorrow now.

I remember my Note 4 used to do that, then for some reason they took it away.

Glad I managed to hold off on the s8+ now as I came close to getting it a few times but had it in the back of my head that I'd want the note 8.

Just pre-oreder the black version.

Estimated ship date
September 13th - September 15th

Was thinking about going for the Orchid color, but I didn't like the color on the S-pen.

I'm on the west coast but it's not live for me yet on VZW, Best Buy, or Sammy.com. Weird.

Ordered mine from at&t. Best buy wouldn't go through so I gave up and got it from them. Shows Sept 5th delivery date.

Now how do we get the accessories?

Proof of purchase. You'll get an email with a link from Sammy once you activate the phone. You'll have to provide IMEI number and a few other items.

That isn't actually new completely though. It's been around for at least as long as the Note 4 and the S6E upwards (I guess it could be depending on region firmware as Samsung do like to tinker with removing options available in one country to another such as "sort apps alphabetically") ....

I remember my Note 4 used to do that, then for some reason they took it away.

Beat me to it ... At least I'm not the only one who remembers this feature being around a while I guess dependent on device.

This phone is still a better value proposition than the iPhone 8 considering that it's pretty much confirmed that the 1k iPhone only has 64GB of storage.

Where did you hear that? I highly doubt that's true.

Edit: Oh, nevermind ... you means the 64gb starts at 1k. Okay, I understand.

It's pretty crazy that I can almost buy 2 Surface Pro 4s for the price of a single iPhone 8 256GB.

Samsung has purposefully set the price of the Note this high knowing how overpriced the iPhone 8 is. I really hate Apple for this. Now we would end up with the entire industry pricing their flagships at a 4 figure sum.

Nice pretzel logic there, blaming Apple for Samsung's pricing decisions. The Apple scorn is strong in you.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It doesn't bode well for us with the iPhone 8 or Pixel XL2

The Note 8 is €600 subsidised on a 24 month contract with Vodafone. That means we are now paying as much for a phone heavily subsidised and tied to a 2 year contract as we did for the near full price of a flagship with no contract only a year or two ago.

It's going to get harder justifying buying new phones on release ...

Yeap, but at least the Pixel and Note prices will drop, no chance of that for the iPhone..

Thankfully it's been kept at retail price in the U.K. Sim Free

http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/sa...70823#!colour=black&capacity=64GB&dealType=sf

But it does seem a costly device on contract, if the iPhone 8 is £1100 or more and up, I can't see it selling very well because it'll be more expensive on contract. We will see.

We need to wait and see, these story's of 64GB and the price are literally just stories, people guessing at present. Not long till we know what Apple has actually done. So keep that glimmer of hope going for a bit longer :)

Actually carrier pricing here rarely drops sadly. Even if Samsung decide to offer a sale price RRP on unlocked model, the carrier pricing and subsidised contract pricing remains stagnant for the duration of that phones 12 month (until replaced by newer model).

It's cheaper currently for example to pick up the S8 on likes of Amazon than walking into retail store of the carriers and pick up their Pay As You Go (buy outright) device.

At least resale pricing does fall here though after a couple of months, where picking up a sealed unused resale model could save €200-300 from the scary €1000 off contract PAYG ...

I do expect to see folks selling their unwanted upgrades of the Note 8 for €750 by end of September here.

You won't get $425 for your Note 5. It said "Up to $425". Meaning depends on your phone and age to get the maximum amount.

See you in a few years when almost every flagship smartphone will star costing 1k including the Pixel. Apple has a tendency to lead the industry in the direction they want.

Samsung priced it this high simply because they know that with the iPhone 8 costing over 1000 bucks this phone would seem like a value buy. Had Apple released the iPhone 8 at its usual pricing structure, good luck selling the Note 8 for $1000.

Both corporations win. The consumer loses.
