Did you give the camera a try?

Yes, but not extensively. Didn't get to try any of the new tricks though. (Sales guy was literally just setting it up and his station when I walked in. I didn't want to be a jerk about it.). It's as fast on the draw as the S8, pics looked really clean.

Not this time.

(Feck. I've said that before too) ....

Only saving grace is iPhone 8 / V30 announcements soon and Pixel possibly in October. Meaning impulsiveness is really not needed right now.

Yeap, pretty sure you've said that before.... I'll have a play if I see one in the Tesco mobile store whilst grocery shopping, tend to have a wonder in their as it save walkain't down into the town haha. Doubt they'll have it this weekend but you never know.

Did it seem wider than the S8+ or did it feel like the same phone to you? I am going to check BB after work today :)

Same phone basically, maybe a bit wider and it seemed less edgy but probably not. What if offers me over the s8+ personally is not worth me spending the money.

Maybe down the road when cheaper but I doubt it.
[doublepost=1503607249][/doublepost]I bet more would be inclined to go for it over the s8+ if the pot was sweeten to do so. Otherwise count me out really.

Got some hands on time at BB.

Quick take: squarer version of an S8 Plus. That's either good or bad depending on end user. I'm okay with it. Difference in the hand is negligible.

The device does seem more fluid than my S8 Plus but it was a brand spankin new unit just put out for demo so who knows.

Didn't play with the SPen much.

If you have an S8 Plus, unless you love the stylus, I really don't see the upgrade need unless you're insane like me.

Some of us are actually buying it for the 6 gb ram and the dual camera with dual OIS. i dont think the stylus is the only selling point. Plus, I love that live messaging feature.

I plan on keeping this device for 2 years since it has the right specs necessary to be future proof.

Oh hush! ;)

I'm on vacation and busy juggling my S8+ and my IPhone 7 Plus so I didn't pay much attention to the Note 8 debut, but those specs sound nice.

My husband gave me his year old IPad Pro 9.7" model so that's pretty much met my needs as far as a device that has a pen/pencil function. That's tempering my usual Note coveting.

I'll give the Note 8 some consideration, but I'm so happily settled in on my S8+ I probably will wait for S9 or Note 9 to keep a foot on the Android side. My S8+ gets phenomenal battery life and the standby puts my iPhone 7+ to shame. I'll be interested in how the Note 8 fares on battery life.

Holding tight until Samsung Canada makes clear incentives for Note 7 customers. Hoping we get the same deal as the US.

Well, I just came from BestBuy. To me, it's fantastic. I like that it's a bit wider than the S8+. Like the S8+, it still fits nicely in the hand. Also, the s pen has a finer tip. Kind of like the change from the Note 5's s pen to the Note's 7. It is tall but not too tall. The aspect ratio works. I watched a short YouTube video and the infinity display is awesome. From my brief time with it, it was fast (don't know how the 6 gb ram will translate in real usage).

Unfortunately, I didn't use the cameras or check out the speakers. Also, I didn't try Live Message.

Whether it's worth the upgrade from the S8/S8+, I think it is but I'm a diehard Note fan.

Well, things just took a turn, told my wife about the trade in deal and she immediately started asking when I was going to do it so she could use the phone. Her iPhone has been acting up and we have to send it in for repair and wants to use the Note in the meantime. She said it was such a good deal i should get it. So it looks like I will eventually be ordering, guess I should head out to Best Buy to check it out.

It's OK if you can't afford one. Others can.

don't forget the group people who think they can afford buying a $1000 smartphone and do buy one (cause you know, gotta show that latest piece of tech to my friends!), but in real life they are just piling it up to all of their creditcard/bank debits.
Something Americans love: ''buy...buy...buy...buy....oeps! A huge debt I can not really afford''

Oh well I just pre-ordered the note 8 in maple gold. Haven't had a black and gold combo since the galaxy S5. Managed the get the free DeX station as well, although you can't claim it until you've had the device for 30-60 days. So another Samsung/galaxy note journey begins for me. Last time I had a note was the note 4, but only had it for a month. Prior to that it was the note 3 which I had for at least 6 months.

Here's a nice unboxing with some sample pics and videos take with the Note 8. This phone looks gorgeous in person, saw it at BB. It may just be me being used to the Note line, but it does not feel as big as I was expecting. I really love the squared off corners. I think it gives it that professional look. Seeing it in person just got me more hyped. Definitely gonna be black for me. As usual. :)

I think people in that group generally don't have friends so they buy to make themselves happy. Also a bank debit card comes from their bank account...

I tick my phone's up interest free, pay an annual maintenance fee of 30 dollars.

It makes more sense to have the lump sum sitting in the bank accruing interest.
I've never handed over a lump sum for a phone or any large ticket electral item.
If anything goes wrong with the phone, you have a bit of leverage, if you don't sort my issue out, I'll halt payments while it's in dispute.

They won't care about your payment, they will write it off and sell your debt to a collector. I had a short term IT job in the late 90s at a big collection agency. It really opened my eyes to what a fraud the system is.

Lucky you. Gold looks the best, cause of the black camera module.

If it's in dispute, they can't palm you off to a debt collection agency here in NZ.

So like I say, leverage, it's not like I haven't done it before.
We have quite strong consumer laws here, if you start talking about small claims court, most retailers will pull their head in and do what they're supposed to.

I will be holding out for the next iphone but will certainly check it out in person. My dad has his S8 plus and wonders wether he should of waited but i don't think there differences are enough for him. He doesn't need the S pen

The 425 off and freebies is a great deal for previous 7 owners, I actually tried last night but my email wasnt recognized on their site(I sent in a Note 7 on recall). I called and had to wait forever and eventually hung up. I was going to pick up a used Galaxy S5 for cheap and trade that in
