Faster updates in theory (not necessarily in practice however...)Any advantages to buying the unlocked and unbranded model over the At&t model? It seems wifi calling and VoLTE won't work on at&t with an unbranded model, it has to be an at&t version. I can get the at&t model and unlock it since it will be paid off, so thats not an advantage. But what else is there with the unbranded model? Faster updates?
I kind of want an unbranded model, its also $25 cheaper, but want to know what I would gain by sacrificing wifi calling and VoLTE.

Samsung won't let her show the pictures because the device is still under embargo. Reviewers can only share their thoughts after the embargo is lifted which will probably be at the start of the week when the device hits the shops. An interesting tit bit from that video is when she says that Samsung won't let her share the pictures she has taken with the Note 8. Later in the video she says they are having issues with some Halo on the Bokeh effect feature.
I think the price of the New iPhone will be even more expensive than the note 8. The 7 plus on o2 at least is more expensive on contract than the S8/S8 plus.been interesting looking at tariffs for the note 8 here in the UK
Kind of makes me think and wonder when new iphone is out. I’m guessing it will be very high upfront costs and just similar per month prices. On o2 if you want to upgrade every 12 months it’s £71 a month for unlimited texts and mins plus 20GB of data. I think if I’m going to start a new contract it would be on a carrier where I would need to upgrade every 12 months. That said it’s a lot per month but might be better than paying £1,000+ each year.
I see EE are no longer offering the note 8 on upgrade after 12 months..wonder why?
I still think montly prices will be around the same for the new iphone but the upfront costs could start at like £100. If the 256GB iphone 8 is 1200 then i can see it. I'm very tempting to move to o2 as currently i'm on a sim only deal with three. anyway not trying to make this about the iphone just wanted to compare prices. I see only EE are offering the dex on contract free with the new note 8. Unless I've not looked properlySamsung won't let her show the pictures because the device is still under embargo. You have to trade in your old phone to be able to upgrade after 12 months on o2. I was on that contract but I'd already sold my S7 edge last year so I couldn't upgrade for free. I had about £289 left to pay off so I just paid it off and upgraded to the note 8. If I still have the note 8 in 12 months I can upgrade for free and trade it in.
I think it's Samsung offer in the uk. No matter where you pre-order from you get DeX which I'm looking forward to trying out. Indeed! They had to show us, their customers that they are serious. I'm loving what that debacle has done to them going forward. It taught them not to be arrogant. The battery will retain 95% effectiveness after two years of use, says Samsung. I believe the s8 battery was 95% effectiveness after one year of use.
Again, Samsung didn't just bounce back from the battery debacle. They're now the industry lead -- I don't know any other company making such promises for their batteries or having the same 8 step QC-ing process. Two years with 95% battery retention is seriously impressive.
Samsung, leading in yet another category.
She does not says they are having issues, and she does not say there is Halo on the Bokeh. In fact, when describing the live focus feature, her words are, "...I was pretty impressed, no halo-ing around objects..." May want to have another listen. And as a previous poster says, embargo won't allow them to share the pics until official release. But she also says she thinks Samsung are still tuning it so that may also be the reason. Nonetheless, others have posted sample pics.
Iphone 8. I'm very much into my apple products and the software on samsung devices is still an issue for me. Love the phone though and what it does and the S pen is great. I like to have a bunch of products of the same besides I have an apple watch and would miss it too muchSo are you getting the iPhone 8 or the Note 8?

I think resale value is an issue for me too. Generally samsung devices don't resell very well. I'm sure i could sell my 7 plus for at least £500-550 before launch or even after where the samsung flagships you will struggle to get 350-400. I'm glad the note is carrying on as it created the big phone market and for that we should all be very gratful to samsung for thisPretty much the same as me then i think in recent years Samsung have stepped up on the design front, but software is a no for me since they still use Touchwiz and don't get regular updates like Apple do with the iPhone. I think if Apple decided to make a smaller Apple Pencil with the iPhone they could seriously put the Note line in trouble, add the multitasking from the iPad into the iPhone (large screen only).
Yeah resale is a factor for me whatever I choose and sadly Android phones just don't hold their resale value.I think resale value is an issue for me too. Talking about Samsung's apology at the start of the unpacked event did anyone see flossy carter in that montage?Indeed! They had to show us, their customers that they are serious. I'm loving what that debacle has done to them going forward. It taught them not to be arrogant.
I didn't watch the event, lol, do you have a link to that part of the video?Talking about Samsung's apology at the start of the unpacked event did anyone see flossy carter in that montage?

whats your next phone then? you stayed firm on buying loads of phones?Yeah resale is a factor for me whatever I choose and sadly Android phones just don't hold their resale value.
Spend €1000 on an iPhone and I know as long as it kept mint condition I will be able to resale in 6 months for €700
Spend €1000 on an Android and I know even kept up in mint condition I will be looking at €500 in 6 months time.
I will go and check out the Note8 (not to be mixed with the Note 8 which was their tablet from a couple years back) when it's available in the wild though just to quell my curiosity.

I want to see what the V30 turns out to be and by the time the Pixel 2 XL is launched and available I imagine the V30 will have already fallen in price on sites like eglobal.
Honestly I don't know what my next phone will be, price is going to be a barrier on the iPhone 8. I'm simply not spending €1000+ on any phone. Unless my carrier offers me an upgrade at similar price to the Note8 offer then forget that ...
I suspect the Pixel 2 XL will be pricy too and in all likelihood unavailable to buy in Ireland directly.
So yeah ... not really sure tbh
