I have to say I'm a little surprised by the aesthetics of the Note 8. Samsung have produced some stunning devices over the past couple of years. Everything down to the finest detail. Why they have decided to put that ugly black slot like camera section on the back of this device is astounding.

The price is jaw dropping too.
Down to finest detail? with all the ports and other holes out of sync, no symmetry whatsoever. In my book that doesn't qualify as "down to finest detail".

We haven't been given a good iPhone upgrade for 4 years now.
First of all it's your ungrounded opinion, because second sales and satisfaction polls say otherwise.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Well, it’s the truth. Apple users generally have a higher income than Android users. It’s rare you would catch a celebrity using an Android phone unless Samsung is paying them for promotion. Apple is the only company that can get away with a $ 1K phone and it still sell REALLY well. Because they know a lot of their supporters can afford it.

Such BS!go and watch those You Tube channels, the ones where they buy Ferraris and Lamborghinis and go on car trips, you'll see just as many Samsung phones as you will iPhones, and these are rich people.
To claim iPhone owners earn more is a false opinion made to make iPhone users feel more self important and prestige... it's an opinion for those iPhone users that are utterly shallow and really do think the phone they use puts them in a higher class of society, sad really.

A car analogy and someone making some sense.
Failed analogy. Same CPU and extra 2 GB RAM will be indistinguishable most of the time, whereas BMW 5 Series M5 series can't be compared.

Unless you do a study you can't tell for sure, but some things are more likely than others.

There are a TON of articles that prove what I said was right: iPhone users make more than Android users.

Does that mean every Android user is poor? No.

Apple owns the premium market when it comes to smartphones. That not even debatable.

iPhones are NOT premium. FACT! The premium market are those phones costing thousands like what Vertu used to make, of the Tag Huer phone.
In fact by your own admission these 'articles' no doubt made by wannabe hipsters, are hypocritical because you've just agreed rich people buy Android phones, tell me is their a mass population iPhone user survey carried out globally to confirm the average earnings of iPhone owners? I'm pretty sure the endless children I see with iPhones will struggle to be on that survey!

Maybe you don't know enough to know what makes sense and what doesn't.

Oookkkkkk....

But you go and believe those reports that make you feel richer if you want to...
If that's your definition of rich ...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: I will remind that discussion revolves around hypothesis that iPhone users IN GENERAL earn more money. Believe me no one feels rich by having an iPhone.

Okay, that’s good to hear.

I’ll go back on topic. No point of you and I going back and forth. :)

Thank you. I was simply telling him or her that iPhone users generally make more than Android users, and are more willing to purchase a $1,000 smartphone. But, I guess they thought I was saying ALL iPhone users consider themselves “rich” because they own one. Definitely not the case.

Erm, yes rich people will be those buying a Vertu phone for £12,000 with its dedicated 24/7 concierge service. I don't know many iPhone owners that would do that. Not sure how else you class rich as? But hey if you feel empowered and self important because you have an iPhone don't let me stop you.
Because a made up guess people who buy iPhones earn more money, that's exactly what a 'hypothesis' is, is made up to make iPhone users feel more self important, you've got to be awfully shallow if you believe in that kind of 'hypothesis' though.

Hmm thought I was in the iPhone 8 $1000 pride rumour thread... it seemed like the sort of thing you would read there..

On of the reasons the alternatives thread is better is people here don't feel more important because of the phones they have!

Erm, those making up hypothesis as you claimed, to state iPhone owners earn more money, you should perhaps be asking yourself that question?
Dear Lord where to begin ... First of all no is making up hypothesis it's a proposition based on limited evidence which has to be proved or disproved. I will repeat that non one feels rich or self important by having an iPhone in a developed part of the world.

The iPhone is the top selling single smartphone at least here in America and several other western countries. But you could also say iPhone users also make the least income in America and several other western countries. The rate of people with iPhones that are lower class, middle class, upper class, rich, and extremely wealthy, is pretty much the same. So you really can't correlate income with the type of phone people use.

Your stereotypical assumption would probably be correct if smartphones were only available with an outright paid in full purchase. But then iPhone sales would plummet, Apple stocks would plummet, and manufacturers would not offer the type of tech we see today. We would be set 1/2 a decade back.

Most people get their phones on contract so they are not paying upfront for the phone. Also Android has a premium market for phones too which are comparable to iPhones.

I do not understand this stupid $999 anti iPhone8 stance some are taking here given that the Note8 shares a similar price.

If one is overpriced and expensive, then they both are.

Folks need to stop defending, justifying, complaining about pricing regarding either device in isolation because they are both from what appears to be the case going to be similarly priced.

€999 for a Note8 or €999 for an iPhone 8 it makes no real difference, they are both expensive.

It's not an 'Apple' thing and it is not apple driving the price of the Note8, it's priced equivalently to the S8 - S8+ price increment. The S8 is €799 here, S8+ €899 and Note8 €999.

If the iPhone 8 starts at €999 or €1099 it doesn't matter because it still equates to two phones that are expensive.

So can we stop this nonsense justifying or attacking one device or price strategy over the other as they share more in common making the whole argument utterly moribund ....

pretty good review..

That's not bad if you don't already own the S8+. I still feel I'm on the fence about it. If I was going to do this, it would make sense to trade in my S7 Edge that I got for free via BOGO after turning in the Note 7 a second time.

But the thing is, I've done many comparisons and my S7 Edge takes video with much better stereo audio quality than my S8+ does. I don't know if I got a subpar quality S8+ or if Samsung changed something across the board that created this result. But I'm reluctant to part with my S7 Edge. I'd rather give up my S8+ at this point. If I were going to give anything up at all. And I am still not sure I see the point. I'm keen on VR and don't know if the Note 8 fits in any of the Gear VR goggles I own.

My husband goes back and forth on the idea of a trade in, too. Lol, I think we both kind of want our Note 7's back, honestly. I don't know why, but that model, had it not been fatally flawed under the hood, was the dream.

To be fair, the Note 8 has external storage, the iPhone doesn't. Samsung can get away with that. A good 80 gigs of music and video is on my 256gb SD card. And the same is on my iP7+ 256gb internal. Having only 64gb on my iPhone is just not doable for me. So if I decide to get an iPhone 8, I'll be paying hundreds more.

SD card speed is a joke.
