SD card speed is perfectly fine. Show me an example that says other wise.
Perfectly fine for what exactly? I'd rather pay extra 100 and get proper fast storage if i really think i need it than participate in this SD card fetish.

That's not bad if you don't already own the S8+. I still feel I'm on the fence about it. If I was going to do this, it would make sense to trade in my S7 Edge that I got for free via BOGO after turning in the Note 7 a second time.

But the thing is, I've done many comparisons and my S7 Edge takes video with much better stereo audio quality than my S8+ does. I don't know if I got a subpar quality S8+ or if Samsung changed something across the board that created this result. But I'm reluctant to part with my S7 Edge. I'd rather give up my S8+ at this point. If I were going to give anything up at all. And I am still not sure I see the point. I'm keen on VR and don't know if the Note 8 fits in any of the Gear VR goggles I own.

My husband goes back and forth on the idea of a trade in, too. Lol, I think we both kind of want our Note 7's back, honestly. I don't know why, but that model, had it not been fatally flawed under the hood, was the dream.

Yes I think if you have an s8+ then the note 8 won't be an instant upgrade. It really depends on wether you want the S-pen and dual lens cameras or if you would rather stick with what you have which is more or less the same as the note 8 apart from those two features.

To be fair, the Note 8 has external storage, the iPhone doesn't. Samsung can get away with that. A good 80 gigs of music and video is on my 256gb SD card. And the same is on my iP7+ 256gb internal. Having only 64gb on my iPhone is just not doable for me. So if I decide to get an iPhone 8, I'll be paying hundreds more.
Well I agree SD option is great they are still offering close to £900 for 64GB worth of storage. It's still alot.

I will be getting the 256GB iphone 8 so i'm expecting a huge amount. So huge that i will likely go against buying it sim free and just starting a new contract

Perfectly fine for music, video, pictures, saving camera shots & recording video directly to, and running most apps from.

Now tell me, what do you need from internal storage that requires you to use read/write speeds beyond SD card capabilities? Besides the few apps or games that might exist to be demanding enough.

I never found the SD card to be an elegant solution for apps, but for music and videos, particularly ones that I'd ripped myself from my DVDs I thought it was great. 64GB would be enough internal storage for my apps and things that can't be out on the SD card coupled with a 256GB micro SD card. It won't be my only phone and I have 128GB on my iPhone 7 plus. I think cloud storage works better on android phones. iCloud is good for photos but I've never got the hang of using it for my documents and files. Probably because up until now there's never been a file system on iOS. However I do like google drive on android. Very easy to navigate, find and save files.

Well for Android phones, that's the price for new. The Note 8 will drop $150 - $200 in several months. The iPhone 8 price won't budge for at least 6 months, and it still won't budge by much.

The 64GB iPhone 8 is likely to cost close to £1,000 in the U.K. which is quite a bit higher than £870 for the note 8. Yes they are both expensive. One is more expensive than the other but it all comes down to what you want and the value you place on certain features/The OS etc. But yeah they are all expensive phones. Only tech enthusiasts like ourselves are willing to fork out exorbitant amounts of money on a regular basis for these devices. Regular people think we are crazy lol

That's cause some manufacturers like Samsung disable the Adoptable Storage option, that allows you to treat the SD card like internal storage and works great.

Putting apps like large games 100% on the SD card is impossible on regular storage mode, because the data folder(which uses the most space) of those apps is always directed to the internal storage.

We are actually the sane ones. We know what we want and why we want it.

Regular people will purchase too, because of financing/leasing/contracts, and because of damn good marketing that will make them buy without them even knowing what they are truly getting. Just another new shiny thing. :p

pretty much. Just like only crazy people like me would pay over £70 a month for the new iphone but i will do so so i can upgrade it every year. Hell I saw a tarriff on O2 where you can upgrade in 12 months with 50GB of data for £96 a month on the note 8..I mean what the hell? lol

I know the tariff I upgraded to for the note 8 is £71. I shudder to think what the iPhone 8 will cost. I'm moaning about it all now but I may still end up with an iPhone 8 when the dust settles lol

Hey I'm hoping it will be around the same as the note 8...£70-75 a month. What I expect is the upfront cost would be higher.

Think i going to go with EE as i don't get very good signal with o2 at work

A car analogy and someone making some sense.

I don't know if the car analogy quite works here but I do agree with his overall point. Other than a removable battery, I cannot think of a single box the Note doesn't check. Then on top of that you add a stylus with impressive functionality.

If you believe there's better "value" in a lower tier phone, then just buy that.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Dear Lord where to begin ... First of all no is making up hypothesis it's a proposition based on limited evidence which has to be proved or disproved. I will repeat that non one feels rich or self important by having an iPhone in a developed part of the world.

Really, so why did the other guy post evidence claiming otherwise? I mean you have to be rich to buy an iPhone, according to you.
I know where to start start with you though, the ignore button because it's quite obvious why you came here, I played a bit but it's boring now.

Why not just wait for the Note 8 price to inevitably fall then trade in your S8+? Don't need to buy straight away. I still don't know about the iPhone 8 or 7 Plus, not sure if it's worth the bigger size or the 1 grand price tag if it does cost that? But I may be buying with a view for a three year device..
I think the Touch ID may be a deciding factor.

Yeah just saw on cnet the iPhone will be starting at $999 and going up to $1299. No thanks. Lol

It's only about $60-$70 more than Note 8. If you're willing to buy one at full price, then you could definitely consider the new iPhone 8.

Let's put it this way, on paper means jack squat. 3GB RAM on the iPhone 7+/A10 processor outperforms a ton of modern Android phones with 4-6GB RAM and Qualcomm processors. I expect the A11 processor to be the best on the market. Plus, iOS has decent features and is finally getting a file system too. The iPhone 8 should be a LG G6 style phone with iOS, which should be superb and the phone of the year.

The processor will be a beast on the iPhone no doubt. But ios11 for the iPhone was a damp squid, great for the iPad but apart from the new control centre and the ability to sync iMessages across devices and software improvements for the camera there wasn't much to get excited about. In fact all of the updates Watch OS 4, Mac OS and TVOS were pretty poor to be honest. The only one that was good was iOS for the iPad which convinced me to buy the 10.5 inch iPad Pro.

I honestly am not giving any real deep thought to it. I'm taking it all in. The S8+ is really good and I will need to see a Note 8 in person, so no rush.

There's nothing "proper" and fast about internal iPhone storage other than devouring your money.

Samsung implementing SD benefits the consumer much more than Apple's solution.

You never see Posts really complaining about having to manage storage on an S8 and S8 plus for a reason. And having to access icloud data is obviously an issue with data plans when off WiFi.

And the more photos and video you take, especially 4K, the more you want flexibility in your storage.

I'm also looking forward to Bixby getting better. It seems like bashing anything new Samsung tries is the cool thing. But Bixby looks extremely promising. It's not meant to be like other voice assistants. As more people use it, it'll only get better. I'm also guessing Viv's abilities will make its way in as well.

Man this is tough. I preordered the Galaxy note7 last year so I’m eligible to trade in an old iPhone 5 and get the Note8 for $535. Compare that to the iPhone 8 starting at (heavily rumored) $999. Not to mention I’d get a 128GB SD Card and fast wireless charger. Apple will probably charge $99 for a standard speed wireless charger. Almost double the price of the Note8....ugh but I’ve resisted Samsung waiting for this Apple super cycle for 2 years now

Well, the new iPhone will probably be difficult to get for months. You could probably get the Note trade in offer and then in a couple months when the iPhone is more readily available, sell the Note 8 and get the iPhone. And since your getting a huge discount on the Note 8, it'll be easier to recoup your costs, you might even make a little.

That’s what I’ve been thinking. Get the Note 8 for $535, and if I hate it I can drop back to my iPhone 7 Plus and then flip the Note 8 in-line for more than $535 I’d think
