Show me on the doll where Samsung touched you.

Can we go ahead and just rename EVERY single Samsung complaint (including mine) thread/post with this title? Thanks for making me spray my water all over my desk.

Anybody on the s8 upgrading? You think there's much of a difference?
For me, the spen alone is enough. Also, there is the dual cameras both with OIS and 2x optical zoom. Then, there's the 6 gb ram, bigger screen, and the improved spen features like Live Messages. Now, I just have to wait for a bogo.

Man this thread went from 0-100 real quick...

The Note 8 looks like a VERY GOOD PHONE. Probably not worth the update for S8 owners, but Note diehards will surely love it.

Interesting to see what LG V30, iPhone 8 and Pixel 2 offer up.

If you're not going to buy one, maybe don't expend so much energy on arguing about it :D

Well the very expensive end of the year phone madness has begun ....

On PAYG with Vodafone (partially subsidised and still locked to the carrier)

That's the equivalent of near $1200 ..... for a carrier locked device !!!!!!

Samsung should, once again, be lauded for embracing the mistake of the Note 7, and really making amends. Remember, they now have an industry-leading QC-ing process for batteries. There wasn't any memorable battery/fire issue with the S8 models; I don't predict there will be any with the Note 8.

Samsung apologizes for the Note 7 again with a ridiculous hype reel for the Note 8

I'm not liking the look of those dual cameras on the back. That coupled with the LED light and FPS just look cluttered and stands out a little too much. Think I'll be staying with my S8 +.

SIDE NOTE: The stage they used for the presentation is super cool. Look at it in action during the first 10 seconds or so of the "Note 8 Event in 8 Mins" video from The Verge. You have to see it in motion to appreciate it:

That price.
Eye watering. I don't have much else to say!

It doesn't bode well for us with the iPhone 8 or Pixel XL2

The Note 8 is €600 subsidised on a 24 month contract with Vodafone. That means we are now paying as much for a phone heavily subsidised and tied to a 2 year contract as we did for the near full price of a flagship with no contract only a year or two ago.

It's going to get harder justifying buying new phones on release ...

Yup. And with me just buying a new house and being told "we will just have to make sure we only buy things we need"... It's safe to say my phone buying habits are being monitored closely... :p:rolleyes:.
Thankfully I'm not tempted by the Note 8 at all. Pixel 2 and iPhone 8 could be a different story though! o_O

Yup, at $950 I had no interest, but at $525 I’m now not sure what to do, especially since I just ordered the essential phone. I guess I could get the note and then sell it? I wonder how long the trade in offer is good for.

Ugh, and now I’m seeing that Best Buy has an additional $100 off and includes a 128gb card and wireless charger, which would bring it down to $425 plus the goodies.

I guess the Note 8 would make a nice change of pace/back up phone ........ no, must stop trying to justify.

Yeah but that's up to $425 from what I have read, depending on what you trade in. So it's not like a free $425 off, it's not much better than what the carriers would offer you for the trade in depending on the phone. Personally I think they should have just offered $300 off, no trade in needed for previous Note 7 owners just for the hassle of dealing with multiple replacements and the whole fiasco. Heck BB is offering $150 off, so $300 isn't too much of a stretch.

That’s true, but I have a note 5 and expect that would be the maximum offer since naturally that would be the handset burned note 7 owners would use, that or the s7. And $425 for my Note 5 is a pretty good deal.

You won't get $425 for your Note 5. It said "Up to $425". Meaning depends on your phone and age to get the maximum amount.

Yes, but this deal is specifically for people who bought the Note 7 and had to return it. So the maximum offer would probably be going to people who stuck with Samsung. And of those who bought the Note 7 and stuck with Samsung, they probably went to and S7 or Note 5, so those should be given the highest amount. Remember, this isn’t a normal discount or sale, it’s specifically a discount for note 7 owners.

Liking the new features. I like my devices packed with features. The more the better. Just like a Swiss Army Knife. Packed with features I know I use, but also with features for those time I never saw coming. Will be pre-ording soon. Bam! Now bring on the Gear S4!
