I don’t think their S8 was in demo mode.
It may have been BS too...
Thanks mib1800, interesting vid.
The device has iris, fingerprint, pass key and facial recognition. With all that, if your device gets defeated, the owner is an idiot.
An XDA poster reveals the Note 8 also fits and works with the Gear VR thats works with the S8+.

Nobody is saying it's not less secure, which is why only the Iris scanner and Finger sensor can be used for secure payments, logins, and etc. But it's not that easy as people are making it out to be. Even the first one who posted it with the S8 said it took a ton of tries to achieve.
Holy ****, that's amazing news with the VR. My Gear VR has life again! I anticipated Samsung announcing a new one because the S8+ was already stretching it further.
No stress that I can tell. It fits more snug than the S8, so you have to be slightly more careful putting it in. Once snapped in, there is no worry of it falling out.
As for performance, it's comparable to the S8. I haven't done anything that would strain the cpu. I ran a few games just to verify that it worked with no error messages.
Probably nowhere close. I would imagine the iPhone will sell 10 times as many units this/next quarter. Still, great to see that the Note is back, and seems to be getting awesome reviews. So shipping times/availability seem good so far?
I wonder how the iPhone 8 shipments/availability will compare.
Yeah the FPS location is not a good thing by any stretch of the imagination. I did find it accurate on my S8+ but i could never get used to holding my finger just right for it to scan correctly so it would take multiple trys.First day at work with the Note, first real battery test. Only issue I've had thus far is that damn FPS. The placement sucks but that's whatever for me at this point, it's the software. It fails to scan way too much. Sammy really needs to up their game here. There are $300 trac phones with better scanning. Inexcusable.
(I'm aware that iris scanning and face recognition are on board, and I use the former. However NOTHING is currently as fast and efficient as fingerprint.)
BTW, people who keep insisting this phone is HUGE have obviously not owned an iPhone 7 Plus. It's been like nuttin switching between the two.
Samsung is selling one specifically for the Note 8. I have no idea why though. Maybe it's a slightly larger fit for the Note 8.

Here is the response I got from the OP just several minutes ago from link I posted.

Would of thought Samsung would of not made this possible or improved it.
Let's see how the iphone one is. I would hope this can't be possible on the new iPhone no hopefully Samsung fixes this on the S9

The FPS is the only thing that might push me towards to V30 or Pixel 2 XL.
So what you saying...its not worth it?The FPS location is difficult indeed. I went to a Samsung store fully aware and prepared for it being awkward, but still the amount of awkwardness took me by surprise. If the scanner were on the other side of the camera, it could be a little better, but that's hard to say. Anyway, it was scary enough to drop my interest way below the "Sure, I'll pay over 1000€ for this" line. The acrobatics needed to access it especially with a case would mean that dropping the phone isn't a question of if but when.
Are you guys buying the note 8 outright or taking it out on a contract?
JheeezOutright.
On another note (no pun intened): anyone order through a carrier and receive instructions for the free gifts (charger and sd card or camera)? I would have thought I'd get an email from Sammy by now with instructions to redeem but so far nothing. I ordered through Verizon. I guess I'll just call Sammy to find out but I hate contacting CS.
Jheeez
Really debating what to do
£860 on a phone is just so expansive it then again getting it on contract will cost like £55 a month.....
Parting with that much money at once just seems too much
Have you heard about the Samsung upgrade program
Outright.

try this:

EDIT: you can also use the "shop Samsung" app on your Note 8
Boom! That'll do it.
Thanks so much for the assist!
