I echo what everyone else is saying about the N8! Awesome phone...speed and quality is unrivaled. Hate the FPS location still from the S8+...but using iris scanning for now.
Restored everything from my Smart Swicth backup of my S8+. Love Smart Switch!
How's the live focus compared to the portrait mode from the 7 plus?

Is there any good deals in the U.K. For the Note 8?

The most decent one I can see is £54 a month where you get 32gb data with Vodafone
No others are cheaper than that..for more data you are looking at 60-70 a month.

Stayed home today, been playing with the Note 8 non-stop from 100% battery life.

Battery results: Close to full brightness(right before the red marker), Auto brightness off, about an hour on wifi & the rest on LTE data, connected to Gear S2 Classic watch, WQHD+ resolution, and stock Samsung launcher. Playing games, streaming videos, browsing on Chrome, chatting on Whatsapp, several calls and random stuff.

Poor light restrictions is almost as fickle as the 7+. :(
The Samsung presentation lied to me.

Being able to adjust blur afterwards and have both cameras take the shot at the same time, that's priceless. :D

Haven't had a chance to test the camera to be honest :)

As much as i love the note series I'm held off and waiting for the iphone x. Will see how much that will be on contract. I'm guessing worse.
I am excited for the iPhone x too. We might be getting 2 in my house. Wish I could see them in person before pre ordering. But by that time there will be a 2 month waiting back order list :)

Apple is also very cunning. The 4K 60fps on the iPhone, is going to force many that use older Macs/Macbooks to think about purchasing a new Mac or Macbook.

Do you think the 02 deal is a good deal for the note 8

30gb, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes....£63 a month (includes 25% airtime discount because I work for a company linked win 02)
This deal also includes an annual upgrade

Thanks. In Canada now, so I am far from the storm as possible. I got really lucky to find an affordable flight since most out were like $1200-$1800 range.
Glad to know you are safe! My husband and I once got stuck on the road a full day during the hurricane Floyd evacuation. It was an ordeal that makes me empathize for the people I saw stuck on roads getting out of Florida.

We've had friends and family in Texas and Florida. It's not been a good time. I try to stay upbeat on the forum despite not hearing back from some people we are worried about.

Back on topic, the Note 8 sounds lovely! Is the deal of discounts to former Note 7 owners still open?

I'm afraid I've not been paying close attention. I have been focusing on trying to pick a new vacuum cleaner, clothes washer and dishwasher. When you read the reviews and see how much comer cutting has gone on in the appliance industry and how once well respected household names now represent cheap brittle plastic and poorly machined junk made in sweatshops, you don't want to buy anything and go back to brooms and washing everything in a washtub like my grandmother did 90 years ago.

Yeah thats a good deal given you can upgrade after 12 months. If you get good signal i say thats a very good option

02 are dire though I'm told in terms of data speed.....their signal is good in London but their data isn't great

Also isn't that deal worse than getting a note 8 from Samsung yearly upgrade plan and then going on a sim only with 3.....that's works out I think £51 a month which is chesper than 02 which is £63

Thanks. Eastern Florida isn't getting hammered as bad as Western Florida and the Keys. Hope your friends and family in Texas & Florida are safe. Harvey, Irma, and Jose are catastrophic. It's incredibly devastating seeing communities ravaged throughout the Caribbean and the Atlantic from these hurricanes. A friend of mine evacuated to Naples to be with family. I empathize with him because Hurricane Wilma was devastating for us many years ago. Irma is worse than Andrew and Wilma. A lot of areas are below sea level, so the storm surge can decimate some areas. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, everyone. Our Caribbean friends and neighbors really need all the financial assistances possible. We will rebuild and be stronger than before no matter the location.

Back to the Note 8: Not sure about the discount yet. I am still on the fence with the pending iPhone 8 specs and pricing.

It's only about $60-$70 more than Note 8. If you're willing to buy one at full price, then you could definitely consider the new iPhone 8.

Let's put it this way, on paper means jack squat. 3GB RAM on the iPhone 7+/A10 processor outperforms a ton of modern Android phones with 4-6GB RAM and Qualcomm processors. I expect the A11 processor to be the best on the market. Plus, iOS has decent features and is finally getting a file system too. The iPhone 8 should be a LG G6 style phone with iOS, which should be superb and the phone of the year.

The thing is, there's absolutely no reason ANYONE should have to pay full price for the Note 8. You can trade in an old iPhone 5 and get $200 off, you definitely won't be able to do that for the iPhone 8. Not to mentioned, pre-ordering will get you a 128GB SD card and fast wireless charger (~$180).

For all of you going that "hey, they are about the same price", the reality is they aren't.

You could sell your old iPhone for £400-£500 then buy the new iPhone and not have to pay a massive amount. Least with iPhones re-sell value is high

Nobody should have to pay $1000 for an iPhone X either because that's insane pricing for very little benefit over older phones. But people will pay and Apple will maximize its bottom line because it can. I personally think the Note 8 might be ahead of the iPhone X now tbh.

Glad you decided to get out of Florida. We made evacuation plans earlier this week just in case but hoped we wouldn’t need to use them. When the storm moved west and targeted the west coast of Florida, that was enough ‘encouragement’ for us to get out of town (we live in Tampa, within 100 meters of Tampa Bay). Spending a few days in Atlanta now.

Thankfully for us, storm made a last minute turn into Central Florida (heart goes out to those folks of course) so very good chance I’ll have a house to return to—hell, Home app on my iPhone shows my house miraculously still has power.

Apologies for the mini-tangent. Just glad whenever i hear a fellow Floridian is safe.

That's awesome. We left too and are now in Jacksonville. Hoping my house is still standing when we get back. Not worried about flooding, we're in a no flood zone. Crazy though those videos of an empty Tampa Bay.

Given the way most plans are structured you’ll pay about half that price and then upgrade 12 months later.

So Live Focus/Portrait Mode seems to works somewhat in dark lighting if you are outside. It was much darker than seen on the photo. Hence the poor quality. Indoors with poor lighting using Live Focus is much more of a struggle.

Here's one I took in the daytime. Max Blur.

It's slightly better IMO, but not by much. But the fact that you can adjust the blur afterwards, and you can save the photos from both lens is extremely useful.

I will have mine on Friday to clarify but when they say you can save both shots do they mean the normal shot and then if you use the 2X zoom? Because on the iPhone 7 plus it automatically saves the normal shot and the blurred shot when using portrait mode.

You're right, I forgot the 7+ included the normal shot too.
