Those of you who got DeX and 360 camera are lucky.

Here in South Africa the freebies are pathetic. My Carrier (Vodacom) had 1 of the best freebie which is a pair of Samsung LEVEL U Flex Bluetooth heaephones. Telkom, another Carrie had a fast wireless charger.

The other 2 carriers had nothing.

Oh I was talking in the long term
Like a year from now...if you lose your phone what kind of replacement will you get from your insurance company

Hell, they could replace your phone with a like model if they don' have refurbished models.

This. But at the same time, how can they refurbish Note 8s this early?

The phone has been out for almost three weeks now, and there are plenty of units circling around out there prior to the public getting their hands on them.

Also, along with refurbs companies will use returned units as in "I don't like the form factor I'm getting an iPhone SE instead" type returns where there isn't anything wrong with the phone.

That's true tbh
I trust apple's refurbishments because they're like new but not sure about samsung's.

Same with Apple. Same as having no idea about Sammy. I got insurance through Verizon for the first time for my Note 8. I generally don't trust OEM customer service outside of Apple.

Out of all the Spigen cases...which offer the best protection?
I would never ever use a Spigen case on any phone ever again. It did nothing to protect my S7 edge several months ago.

It costs 13.99 for a spigen case so I was wary as that is quiet cheap

which company case do you recommend then?

Wow lol

Thats true. You are more likely to get a brand new model from a bank insurance rather than Vodafone who will most likely give out refurbished ones.

I know this case isn't for everyone but I now only use OtterBox cases on my phones. I have an Otterbox Defender on my S7 Edge, S8+ and now OtterBox is also on my Note 8.
I also had an OtterBox on my Note 5. I was in an accident back in June and the phone went flying around the car in the accident. It ended up under the passenger seat and the phone was undamaged. I had to hunt down the S Pen but I even found that undamaged. That protection is why I trust OtterBox now.

That's what Google was doing with 6P owners, giving them a Pixel XL refurbished unit. I doubt Samsung will run out of refurbished Note 8s a year from now and same with insurance companies or carriers. But they're obligated to give you a like new/refurbished device, a similar model, or a credit for the value of the phone, but it will probably be pro-rated or at a reduced rate. Though, if the S8+ is considered a similar model, people are screwed because truly there isn't a device comparable to the Note 8 out right now.

I know I'm picky but it isn't fair that you get a used model. I think personally it should be new.

I've seen people have an S6 edge plus replaced with an S6 edge, and I've also seen people have an S5 replaced with an S8. It all depends upon what Asurion has available at that time.

If that's the case, Google or Apple can do that for you because they're more likely to give you a new model out of the box from their stock if the manager or supervisor makes an exception (over the phone in Google's case).

When I had the Nexus 4 in White, Google mailed me a new one within 2 business days in box. Idk if they still do that with the Pixel. Samsung is stupidly trying to "repair" phones when in reality, it could be cheaper to replace it and take in devices to refurbish them to keep a cycle going than having many repair centers, labor hours, etc. With a countless cycle of refurbished devices, they do not need to manufacture new phones.

I do not have Insurion since I believe insurance isn't needed for me, but it helps those who need it. It's stupid how they downgraded someone to a S6 Edge considering it only had a 5.1" display and 1 less GB RAM. The S6 Edge Plus had better battery life as well.

True
I have 30 days to return the Samsung note 8 to Vodafone if I don't like it and get an apple 8 plus.
Reason I opted for the note was because I wanted something different and it was a lot cheaper than the new iPhone.
Also I can just hope my current note 8 lasts for a year at least when I can then upgrade again.

It will last for a long time. My dad's Note 5 is still doing very well considering it's like 2 years old. I used it as a temp phone back in Feb and it was a solid experience, just the battery was showing age.

I plan on using my Note 8 for at least another year. Preferably 2-3 years. Though I am still considering the iPhone X or 8+ next year. Hell, even looking at the 8+ now to see how good it performs in relation to the Note 8, but I won't give up my stylus and better software features to go back for an expensive and crappy update.

Oh my goodness! That is unfortunate. With such a large lip the phone should have been spotless. I had a Speck case that also had large top and bottom lips on my S7 Edge, and that case did a fantastic job, I dropped the phone many times and not a single crack on it.

Got an Incipio CAS in my Note8 with decent top and bottom lips, hopefully it's good enough.

Haha true
What ad block software do you use on your note 8 and do you use a screen protector?

The problem with that Spigen case is the the top and bottom lips are just bendable rubber. It's not hardened at all and that is why my screen cracked where it did. You can see in the picture that the lip on the lower left area where there screen cracked, scuffed. I now have a OtterBox case on the S7 Edge that I replaced the broken one with and it has hardened edges and corners all the way around.
