Cannot understand Samsung’s lack of gifts. Just been sent an email about the OnePlus 13 launch next week and they are being more forthcoming on this front, plus the chance to win other things.

They are probably trying to save money, I remember when they use to give a free Galaxy Watch or a pair of Galaxy Buds. Who knows maybe they will give something else alongside the free Gemini for a year.

Software question.

One thing I love about iOS is when I have those darn “enter the code we just sent to your phone number”, the numbers just come in automatically. Does One UI or Android in general have something similar?

Thanks!

As for pics of moving objects, how is it on Samsung currently? Any better or is that still an issue?

For me, at least with the Galaxy Fold 6 I think it's worse than the iPhone and Pixel (if you throw in this one at 12MP, in 50MP it's somewhat slower than the Samsung). The camera is not the phone's strong point. The S24 Ultra wasn't that slow when I tried a friend's... but for moving photos the iPhone I think is still the best...

I am always surprised by some of these comments as its often very subjective and much depends on the operator as the hardware

My simple experiment which is by no means conclusive shows that under certain conditions my Samsung F6 is theoretically shooting faster than my IPhone16Pro

I think we would all agree that the average ceiling fan is moving faster than most children and pets, so I just pointed and shot (no fiddling with settings) with my IPhone16Pro and Fold6 (I did take 3 photos with the F6 so fan blades were roughly aligned)

image01.jpgimage02.jpg

Without pixel peeping and to get a result for typical family shots I see no real discerning difrence other that the Iphone16 get the colour balance wrong and is a bit better on the edges (post processing)

If I use burst mode the Fold 6 will slaughter the Iphones as it will take 31/32 frames where the Iphones is only 15 and so misses many blades out

I expect under different lighting conditions both phones may yield different results and the post processing is likely to vary so YMMV but the biggest differentiation is likely the operator shaking and/or not panning with the subject to get good results :)

You need to really find a constant moving objects and try yourself to find which one suits your shooting method, but for me indoors low light I see negligible difference between the phones for candid shots :)

I wonder if Samsung will introduce an Ai image generator app, similar to Apple's image playground and Googles Pixel Studio. From what I've seen, Google's Pixel Studio is better at generating whatever image you want.

Well, it’s different on Android… well, at least on One UI.

Once the notification comes through… user get the option to “copy” code, then can paste it to wherever they see fit.

I personally like the squared edges better. Looks to much like an iPhone on the front.
That post just shows the anti reflective coating on S24 compared to some random phone without coating. While the S25U will have more rounded corners it will still have a more boxy look than that phone in the picture.

Are you buying S25?

Absolutely not lol. I’ll take part in the enjoyment of others who actually buys the S25… I intend to not buy any smartphones this year… upgraded the iPad and Fold last year.

And those were pricy upgrades… 2k for each device (was able to get the Fold at a nice discount with a trade-in).

Samsung and Pixel already have more advance AI tools like

Generative photo editing
Analyzes an image and regenerates it when objects are resized, removed, or re-positioned. It can also expand images and fill in empty space or cut-off items.

Sketch to image
Transforms a sketch drawn on top of an image into a photo realistic object.

All 3 devices have their own versions of Apples image playground and maybe you should read articles like this 1st to understand the offerings strengths and weaknesses

However IMO this sort of thing is great if your 5 not 50 LOL and hardly worth discussing :)

If that is indeed the case, Samsungs perks have gone downhill. Last year and indeed previous years, included a free Galaxy Watch or pair of Galaxy Buds.

Also, Happy New Year everyone 🥳
I don't know about you guys but I am not interested in another subscription, wrt AI. I think they (Apple, Samsung, Google) will have a free entry but charge for more robust features. No thanks.

"Apple has AI?" says owner of an iPhone 15PM
Apple Intelligence is OK at best, Google is leading the way in AI in my opinion. Even as an iPhone user i use the Gemini app instead of Siri. It’s embarrassing how much better Gemini is over Siri.

I still love my iPhone 15 Pro Max, BUT just not when it comes to AI. If Samsung don’t impress me with the S25 Ultra, I’m even thinking of trading in my S24 Ultra when Google’s Pixel 10 comes out, having a Pixel as my second phone instead of a Samsung Ultra.

IF, and that’s a big IF, I were to make the switch from Apple, I think it would be a Pixel. But I do love Samsung phones, they’re just a little too much at times.

Samsung have some great devices, i do use my S24 Ultra as my second phone, however that’s usually only for the camera among a few other things. My SIM card is in my iPhone which is my main phone.

I do think the Pixel has a better camera overall, from what I’ve seen on the Pixel 9 Pro XL, its camera looks great. However IOS and battery life have always been what’s kept me in the Apple camp. Just lately tho i have noticed slow downs and the occasional bugs in IOS, it’s not what it used to be. Apple Intelligence just isn’t up to scratch, you can literally have a conversation with Gemini and 9 times out of 10 it will work really well, almost as if I’m having a conversation with a real person. Apple are no where near that, at the moment.

That being said, i do like my S24 Ultra because i can customise it more than my iPhone, although Apple did introduce more customisation with IOS 18. Realistically tho how many times does someone need to customise before they get bored and leave it as it is, that’s exactly what I’ve done.

For me I’m going to be looking at what Samsung do with the S25 Ultra, if there’s nothing that catches my eye to impressive me as a S24 Ultra owner, i will wait and see what Google do with the Pixel 10.

Doesn’t he say “you should buy it” every year tho.
No he doesn't as a matter of fact he is very critical of Samsung if you follow him on X. He praises the Chineses phone makers more than anyone else. Companies like BBK Electronics that own Vivo, OPPO, Realme and Oneplus.

Interesting, we've only got a couple of weeks to find out. I wonder if they will have a Gemini competitor and that's what they are going to announce. As in a live being able to chat with Gemini, but then why would they be rumoured to give Gemini advanced subscription for 12 months as a perk 🤔
