What still motivates one to keep buying the Ultra instead of the Fold?
Durability concerns and most importantly the camera technology.... these two reasons will always be the deciding factor between the two. The 2-1 form factor is enough to win me over, but I completely understand those who refuse to look past those two issues.

Curious. How are the cameras with moving objects these days? My wife and I have a baby on the way in June but if the pics are still blurry with small kids, then no way.

I’m just really starting to hate Apple as a company but I’m comfortable on the iPhone blah blah blah you know the drill.

Congrats on the "bun in the oven" so to speak!

DUDE....stay with your iPhone....we have all seen this drama play out multiple times over the years.....
Stay with your iPhone...as you always go back

Thanks!

As for pics of moving objects, how is it on Samsung currently? Any better or is that still an issue?

For me, at least with the Galaxy Fold 6 I think it's worse than the iPhone and Pixel (if you throw in this one at 12MP, in 50MP it's somewhat slower than the Samsung). The camera is not the phone's strong point. The S24 Ultra wasn't that slow when I tried a friend's... but for moving photos the iPhone I think is still the best...

Thanks! Part of my inquiry is because my wife is a Samsung user and while RCS has helped a lot, I think we'd like to have the same platform for photo and video sharing, because those with kids, you know how those first couple of years are. Photos photos and photos!

In my case it is similar, but the other way around. I made my partner switch to the iPhone via AirDrop and the iCloud photo library, and now I'm the one who finds doubts about whether to leave Apple's walled garden.

Haha yeah my wife refuses to switch to iPhone, for reasons dumber than I would ever admit here. But I love her, lol.

Can I ask: in what ways? Is there one area the Samsung camera just has a huge lead? Most people prefer iPhone or Pixel, but I don't see a lot of people saying Samsung camera is tops. (Tops in lots of other categories for sure, just not hearing a lot of bragging about camera prowess.) DXOMARK currently has Pixel 9 Pro @ #2, iPP 16 @ #4, then a bunch more Pixels and iPhones, and S24U @ #28.
One area where I think the Samsung Ultras are superior to iPhone is when zooming to objects far away. Much better IMO.

I can’t wait for the S25 Ultra just for this reason alone. The form factor will be a huge difference for me.

I feel completely the opposite.

I like my square brick.

This is the one thing that made the ultra stand out and be unique.

Now it looks like another iCopy iPhone instead of a Samsung.

I will keep my s24 ultra as tempted as I may be for the s25 I think I will wait a couple years before I upgrade.

Financially I couldn't afford to upgrade this next year anyway but this change for me makes it a lot easier.

I like the ram upgrade and processor upgrade but changing the shape was a bad move in my opinion.

I would have to agree with you there. I prefer the square design. Wasn't always the most comfortable to hold but I did like that it separated itself from every other phone out there.

One of the main reasons I never got an ultra was the hideous square design, when you even see You Tube reviewers as well as reviewers in general mentioning how uncomfortable a phone is to handle for any length of time, then that screams to me that there is a fundamental issue with the phone’s ergonomics.

How comfortable a phone is to use should in my book trump every time whether it separates it from other devices.

I like the design of the S25 ultra to be honest. Software will be great and new al features will no doubt be an upgrade but the cameras not being upgraded aside from the ultra wide is a big letdown. It’s more like a pro camera wise than an ultra which is a shame

An upgraded anti reflective display is a bonus as that remains market leading. Everybody else needs to add this.

Well Samsung are like Apple these days in that you don’t upgrade too much in any one time. TBH it sounds like the base S25 is getting the most upgrades with an increase in RAM & base storage plus if they all get the Elite.

So the square makes it a Samsung? Even though that is the ONLY square phone Samsung makes? I can understand the nostalgia for the Note line though.
I don't mind the S25 Ultra being like the iPhone and Pixel 9 XL with flats sides and rounded corners.
Those 2 phones feel great in the hand and are a joy to hold.
