$700 trade in for 16 Pro Max. Samsung not doing much to help me want to switch.

@BoxerGT2.5 What color/storage is your 9 Pro XL?
watching this play out lol

I understand it’s your buying decision… was hoping for some explanation, but hey… it’s ok.
Well since Dave had the same things asked of him, let me explain in a shortened version because I have a meeting starting soon.

There are certain things about the S Ultra series that pull me in, and the ability to control the camera shutter with the S-Pen is one of them. And now that's gone. Of course I don't have that on my iPhone right now, but I'm also wanting to leave Apple permanently and am trying to weight the pros and cons between different Android devices.

S25U US EPP pricing with S21U trade-in. Nice to have but not need to have since S21U is still running fine. Was hoping for better than 10x optical zoom or more useful >30x hybrid zoom, >12GB of RAM, etc.

$486 out the door with buds pro 3.

Not a bad deal for a brand new phone and trade in.

However, I am just not feeling it? 50mp ultra wide, same 12gb ram, looks like an iPhone clone, better processor, same screen tech unless I am mistaken, same battery size.

Think my s24u brick will be with me a little longer. This year my budget is tight and I am used to upgrading my phone every year but this year I really don't.

I can't wait to see the pictures and experience of new owners. I can borrow their excitement but it looks like maybe next year for me.

For me a new screen with the color gradients fixed would have been more impetus to upgrade and 10x optical zoom on the 200mp sensor and bigger sensors but doesn't seem like they did that?

Congrats to all who pre order. Hope you really enjoy the s25 series whichever model you decide on.

So no Bixby update?

No One UI 7 release date?

Between this and the iPhone 16, well, super boring year. I'm pretty sure 100% of the AI updates will come to the S24, so what's left? I mean, don't get me wrong, better to save money, but I still like seeing phones evolve.

They didn't even show much about the S25 Edge to make more hype.

Also, Samsung, TM Roth is a TERRIBLE presenter. Just makes Samsung look bad every time. If he can't talk english with fluidity, then better have someone else run the show please.

Yea the presentations are terrible, Apple presentations are far better. Hell even Google's presentations are better. I can never understand TM Roth either. The way the event just ended abruptly when teasing the Edge.

The thing is it would be more impressive.....if most of those features weren't coming to Google Pixel, if they were Samsung only. No Bixby upgrade and no Gemini Live competitor from what I saw. I'm sticking with my S24 Ultra and waiting until the Pixel 10.

In Gemini Advanced on my OnePlus 13 I am able to "hey Google" and find a location / landmark and send or text it to a person within a Google Maps link. All without unlocking the phone. So I'd think all or most of these features will work on Android phones that use Gemini as the assistant?

I tried the exact same commands and instructions on my iPhone and Siri just asked me if it was the correct location and simply generated an Apple Maps that I could click on 😂😂.

I'm guessing so, I think features mentioned today at Samsung's event and on Google's short video they dropped, are just starting with the S25 and Pixel 9 lineup. Other Android devices will probably get them over time. Google prioritises its own Pixel and Samsung devices before others.

The Edge is going shave off one camera and have less battery capacity it seems. I hope the rumour of it having the Ultra’s main camera is true though.

Here’s some photos of the actual device and it is insanely thin.

A bit underwhelming, no? Maybe because I'm not too interested in virtual assistants and AI.

The S25+ has the same camera hardware as the S24 Plus, which in turn has the same hardware as the S23 Plus. Same charging speeds as the S23+ and same screen, battery, and RAM as the S24+.

Meanwhile OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi etc are all adding 6000mAh batteries, faster charging, and much better camera hardware.

Very underwhelming! I was hoping the rumours and leaks were wrong, I wanted bigger upgrades to the cameras. After all this is Samsung the company who put a 200MP camera in a smartphone a few years back.
They have removed bluetooth for the S-Pen which means no camera control with the side button as a clicker. Even the colours are rubbish this year.

Even if you are into AI, there is no big upgraded Bixby or Samsung AI, it's Googles Gemini which can be found on Google's own Pixel.

Maybe Smart phones have peaked and my expectations are too high. At least I save money......well until Google announces the Pixel 10 line up at least.......who knows tho, maybe they will also fail to impress.

Now bar is nice with sport scores. This is what makes live activities a game changer for me on iPhone

Is it the same or do you think Live activities is better? I've never noticed it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, is it a feature that has to be enabled?

I use the 3x zoom camera quite a bit.. and it still is unchanged from what, the S21!?
