Another offer in UK to tempt some :)

View attachment 2478229

I just checked with an old S9 of my youngest that's knackered I can get a S25 Ultra for £825 plus double storage and free buds Pro 3 as you can also use the pre event voucher to get another 100 off on the offer.

Crazy that is down from £1349 to £825 saving of £524 cash plus £159 of Buds free plus £100 of extra storage free

Even if you sold say your S24 privately at the same trade in value of £650 that is a new phone with warranty etc etc for only £175 pounds cash delta

Sell your free buds and its almost a new phone for pennies :)

It’s certainly tempting Steve, I just don’t want to end up with 3 devices when the Pixel 10 comes out later this year 😂

Do what you did last year :)

Buy the Samsung Ultra, sell it, get the Pixel on trial, send it back, buy the Ultra again LOL

At least with this price your likely only to loose money on the Pixel and you will actually be able to compare the S25 vs The Pixel 10 during the 14 days try period, before sending the P10 back.

I like Pixel hardware but vanilla android "less is more" is just is not for me. I prefer the feature rich Samsung UI and even Apple at times :)

You only have till midnight tonight to get this offer :D

I just msg my youngest to see if she wants it

I see the little dig you did there 😂

The fact that i can use my dads Blue Light Card discount makes it worse, it means i get even more knocked off the price. But that’s the same with the Pixel 9 series at the moment, i get 25% off the Pixel 9 with dads discount.

I’m just not seeing much of an upgrade from my S24 Ultra, yes I would get the phone for about £485 after trading in my S24 Ultra. Also i would get the free buds 3.

You don’t like stock Android? Most people say they prefer it. Do you not like Pixel UI? To me it seems clean and you don’t have the multiple apps (Samsung photos and Google photos for example on the Galaxy). Also doesn’t the Pixel have more features than Galaxy? For example they get what’s called “Pixel drop” every few months with new features.

Samsung really are a bunch of teasers with their great offers 😂 (at least here in the UK).

I agree that vanilla android, atleast imo, is 'less is less'

Anyone having issues with the fingerprint lock with a screen protector. I have a Torras one on and they are usually pretty good but I feel some of my scans are being skipped due to the screen protector. I did the registration after installation. Was that the problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep makes a change for UK to get some good deals

I like Samsung feature rich UI and its many options, I can choose what I want or what to ignore

Samsung/MS link to windows is the best and even DEX has got me out of trouble on occasion and the same with goodlock.

As for duplicate apps, too much fuss about so little IMO, its the same on my IP16P all the bloat Apple gives I just dump into an unused app folder. I certainly dislike the Today feed in the AppStore that pushes TC agenda at times.

When I get bored I go back occasionally and look at some features I don't use or look at ones like having a working replica of your smart watch face on your home screen etc just for fun

Samsung ECO is the largest by far and it makes me laugh when my TV in Thailand pings me that my Daughters dinner is ready in UK LOL and I can choose to alter my Hue Lighting in UK or Thailand from smarthings or the Hue app etc

AI I largely ignore other than chat translations are a killer feature in Thailand and even in Spain we used it and on occasion I use circle to search, the rest are toys or of no use professionally for me.

I can understand why some like Pixel but its just not for me UI wise :)

My iPhone 15 Pro Max is my main phone, however as a second device my S24 Ultra has been great.
The AI features look good, however I do wonder how practical they are and how much they are actually used vs marketing.

The issue with AI, (at least for me) is trusting it enough to actually use it professionally. I don’t mean privacy, I think that ship has sailed with all companies now.
I write professionally, there is no way I would trust AI to proofread my work (thats why editors exist 😂).

For me iPhone holds a special place, even if IOS has got stale and boring. But Android is definitely in second place.

I’m going to hold onto my S24 ultra and see what Google do with the Pixel 10, I can see myself buying into their ecosystem.

Your concern with AI accuracy is valid. It still hallucinates too often and makes too many mistakes. However, at the rate they are improving I don’t expect that to be a problem for very long. AGI will introduce a whole new series of problems, lol.

You mean via Smart Things? mine does that as well, 😂 at home we have a Samsung oven (Series 6 I believe it is), Samsung washing machine and Samsung microwave. They all ping my Samsung Smart things 😂

Now i know why i decided to buy samsung this year over the pixel.

UI and FEATURES

Camera hardware not improving doesn't actually bother me as i bought this for the software and what the phone offers. Yes I will look forward to better hardware but man i love the design. the difference it makes holding the device is a massive difference for me. not really used hardly any al yet or looked in that but i like that it's available.

I always said that if I were going to move from apple to android, it would have to be the pixel. Stock android was so much better than the manufacturer overlays, more updates, latest android and feature drops.

For years every time I tried a samsung, I had slowness, bugs, enforced samsung stuff all of which wasn't there on the pixel.

Oneui changed all that and oneui7 for me is a real "wow" release. It's as smooth as ios but faster and tons of features that I wouldn't want to miss out on.

I try the new pixels every year but always end up sending them back because I miss some feature that's there on the samsung.

We'll see I guess. Samsung seem to have done a great job with photo processing this year which is really important to me BUT there's still a look in the pixel photos... every so often, more so than samsung/apple, I see a real "proper camera/dslr" look which wows me.

...but every year I see slowness on the latest pixel which annoys and I just get that feeling that they haven't thrown everything at it. Almost like I'm buying the pixel but there's a pixel ultra that would suit me better waiting in the wings, which never comes.

tbh I feel like I need a foldable but not going there until the cameras are at least as good as the best they have on their other phones.

Anyway, we'll see but for now I'm loving the 25u

I have Samsung screen protector film on. I don't have any problem at all. My finger print unlock is pretty quick, just a quick light touch on the screen, it's unlocked. My touch sensitivity is at the default, but you can increase it in the settings.

I'm noticing the inconsistency in push notifications as well. I think it's more an android thing than S25U thing as I experience the same on my Pixel devices and oneplus open. As much as I like this device I feel like in the last several months I've just shifted towards ios for some reason, at least when it comes to non foldable devices. This device is fantastic but as of right now I'm leaning towards a return and hanging onto my S24U
Have you tried turning off "put unused apps to sleep"?

I'm liking the way they are handling live sports scores in oneui7. Gives me hope that eventually we will have something on par with the iPhones live activities.

I'm conflicted over this Now Bar. I like the feature... but now Samsung has removed the "Show All notifications icons" from Settings.

So, we are limited to only 3 icons and sometimes I tend to glance at the status bar to see what notifications I have that was initially overlooked. It's fundamental feature of Android to have the ability to show all notifications on the status bar... so, I'm not sure what to think.

I have redone the fingerprints and they are much better. Also thinking as much as I thought I was doing it right having used Samsung phones in the past there is still a learning curve for me. Guess I have spent too long on the other side of the fence. Hehe.

Battery life on this seems to me phenomenal. Charged upto 100% when I got it at 3pm Saturday. It's now 9am Monday and still got 23% left. That includes doing the whole transfer and setup from my previous phone.
I have the same experience. The battery size might be the same as last year...but battery performance is a lot better than last year!
