Oh yes so do I actually the first thing that got me to rooting a phone was when I owned the Motorola Droid X and I saw a theme with some beautiful notification area icons including the battery
I remeber those days! I had the Droid as well...with that awesome startup sound and animation saying "Droid"
Those days of installing new roms and rooting. Sometimes when things didn't go right...Having to spend the next couple of hours re-flashing back to stock or a new rom.....
Ahhhh the good ole days.....

Oh yes indeed awesome days I remember changing the boot animations on them as well and just love that noise on startup

I abused the heck out of my Nexus 4. Lol. Probably flashed a different ROM 3 to 4 times per week.

Haha same here I think the Nexus phone was the one that I would sometimes install 3 ROMs same day LMAO

I’ve used Android phones on and off (for months) over the years, and now I’m seriously thinking of switching from my iPhone 16 Pro Max to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. I still enjoy my Mac, AirPods Pro, and Apple Watch, but I just don’t like the iPhone or iOS anymore and I’m willing to let go of the watch.

iOS 18 feels laggy and unstable compared to how smooth it used to be. I also dislike the warm screen tone and how the iPhone handles selfies, skin tones look off. The S25 Ultra may not have the absolute best camera (High end Chinese phones win there) but I overall prefer its photo style to iPhone and love the S-Pen.

I paid full price for the 16 Pro Max after selling my 13 Pro Max for just 400, and the upgrade gave me barely any improvement, maybe 2% for 3x the cost of 13 pro Max! It’s a boring, overpriced phone with weak Wi-Fi and no useful AI. I never use iMessage or FaceTime, so switching wouldn’t affect how I communicate.

It’s just that I’m used to Safari, and the seamless switching between my phone and Mac with Safari is something I’ll miss. The same goes for the Notes app. But aside from those, I don’t really prefer any other iOS features.

So what do you think,is it worth switching at this point?

Also worth mentioning: I can sell my 16 Pro Max for around 800, which means a 400 loss in just 5 months.
Give it a try as no one here can tell you what is best for your uses in the end. You get a return period. With Notes the best workaround is to just log into iCloud via the web on the S25U and create a widget / shortcut on the home (or app) screen to quickly access it.

If you experience lag on the 16PM you're in for a treat if you try the S25U. I say go for it 👍.

Having had success using Mac's with Android phones for 4+ years, I'd say yes.

A few things that are different for me:
  • Never been a Safari browser fan (for decades) and kept going back and forth between Firefox and Chrome on my Mac's and finally settled on the latter.
  • You can have similar seamless browser integration between devices with Chrome. I chose not to:
    • store passwords in browsers ("free" BitWarden Personal is my password manager)
    • use auto-complete
    • share browser data across different platforms
  • AirPods worked fine with my S25 Ultra though now I use Buds2 Pro that came free with a phone
Prior to switching
  • Synced "Apple" contacts on my Mac with Google Contacts
  • Migrated Notes app data to Google Keep
  • Disabled iMessage
Post-switch
  • Transfer files between platforms using LocalSend
  • Created a Google cloud share folder for other sorts of transfers and also accessing items that I'm working on while away from my Mac
An optional item that I recommend is Google Advanced Protection Program for better Google Play store app and general security protection. Signing up has required physical security keys to access personal data since the beginning and also now works with passkeys as well, which aren't for me.

Excellent advice here

I got the April Google Play Services update yesterday.

I upgraded from March today (took two steps). Initially upon checking it said restart required then when I checked again it said install and restart and finally April update applied.

Also, a bright note on the April OneUI security update: fingerprint unlock works far more reliably for me.

All too often I've had to swipe up unlock with PIN multiple times per day since I got my S25U at the end of January. Not sure if it might have had something to do with work O365 notifications on my locked screen or not.

Definitely a bit disappointed that Samsung didn't address the Live Scores issue where if you clear all notifications, it goes away and you can't get it back.

And how do you do that?

I figured that even though it is from Google, there might be a specific version for each phone.

For example, mine was 28mb I believe, but a friend with a Pixel 8 Pro, his update was 32mb.
You don't even need to go to the Play store. From your phone, go to About phone. Then, Software information. Then, click Google Play system update.

Not saying the S25 is a bad device but they should have tested it a bit more with Android 15 before releasing it.
The Wifi issues (that is fixed in the april update) is just a pain. Especially if you are rolling it out in an enterprise environment that requires WiFi enroll the device.

I hope Samsung starts to deliver phones with the April patch installed as soon as possible.

As @rhinosrcool noted above or from your settings/apps list you can by checking for update in store

IE in the Settings/apps list scrolldown to Google Play Services then select and you will find an option to check store for update

But that's for the actual Play Store, what we have been talking about Google Play Services.

It will then take you to the playstore where it checks if update is available for your phone
