As someone who is locked heavily in iOS.. but have switched to Samsung devices every year or two.. this is tempting as hell... then I just get the new iPhone usually when it comes out. I generally enjoy android products more. But maybe it’s the “new phone” feel I get.

honestly.. I love iMessage and it holds me back from the total switch. Every time I do that’s one part that just looms over the device for me. I also hated that the tab s6 and s10 didn’t have message continuity at the time.. Im so damn tempted . At least to try it out

‘Sad’ to say that I only love iPhones when I can jailbreak them but I do enjoy spending time at an Apple store !!

Land of Smiles
From the above extensive review, I’ve underlined points that make sense to me & crossed out ones that I have no interest in.

Pros
  • Head-turning, bragging-rights form factor used for added multitasking value
  • Keeps the small-to-big foldable phones' promise thanks to the large Cover Display
  • Smooth scrolling and interface on the first foldable 120Hz display
  • Very usable with one hand on the go when closed
  • Smooth performance, good battery life
  • Great selfie pictures and video taken with the main camera
  • Excellent stereo speakers
  • Excellent display replacement warranty with the free Galaxy Z Premier service
Cons
  • More expensive than the OG Fold with twice less base storage
  • Still a thick and heavy phone to carry around, especially with a case on
  • Squished and tiny keyboard on the narrow cover screen
  • Taking selfies with the main camera could be less convoluted a process
  • No 8K video recording option despite the Snapdragon 865+ processor
  • Few apps are still not optimized for the main display's squarish aspect ratio
I do get a bit miffed with many of these reviews, it certainly seems not many actually owned or even used the V1 Fold and there are always references to the pre-production units that are simple not applicable as normal consumers never got these

I do feel the V1 Fold was out of the S8 design camp due to R&D development time I guess and it has finally with the V2 thankfully got similar styling to the Note 20 series, which is my preference

However aesthetics aside and larger front screen most other tweaks and refinements are hidden eg to hinge or screen laminate other than typical camera upgrades that come on all new model releases

To me the most significant change given that the V1 Fold will get the same UI upgrade is Flex Mode

Of course I am going to enjoy the new styling but I think many over exaggerate the the real changes to V2 and it's just become more appealing device

I am not sure why many think the inner screen is so delicate or if the device needs to mollycoddled, you soon get past this with ownership.

I find it funny that many naysayers last year are so easily persuaded this year :) the core functionality has not changed it's just a sweeter wrapping

For me, never owned the v1 much less seem it in person , I don’t know how I’ll feel when it’s folded I ordered it and I’ll see how I like it. If I like it more than my note 20 ultra...

Genuinely curious why you love iMessage.

Funny how the conversation keeps getting back to the things people want & like about iPhones.

Someone tell those obsessed with the iPhone Notch that this is the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 thread.

Look, I’ll even help you get back on track...

I know the feeling, been wanting a Fold since the 1st gen. I plan on keeping my Fold for 3 years, so I knew 3rd gen would be the way to go. I love my Note 10+, so I'll miss the SPen, but the sacrifice will be worth it for a foldable. I'm glad to see Samsung has made huge improvements in design with the Fold 2. I'm sure 3rd gen will refine it a bit more, along with the software. So it's only gonna get better. Just from the overall first impressions of early hands on, it already seems the Fold 2 is taking a bigger step for foldables to go mainstream.

Absolutely. Multitasking is one of the main reasons I want the bigger screen. Amazing at how some of the users in this thread are able to get such good deals in their country. I'm in Canada, and this device is $2800. So the Fold 3 should be around the same price.

I ALMOST ordered last night, but I'm sticking with the Note 20 for a year. I just think, for me personally, it's one year too early to jump on this tech.

I watched a review the other day and they said the camera wasn't the same as the Note 20?
Seems a shame that for that price there's a worse(?) camera set up.

Samples looked pretty good that came from it though. ??

I thought the only difference was it didn’t have the 108MP part? The sample pictures I have seen are pretty good. I think the Fold doesn’t have the zoom and 108MP from the Note 20 line.

Yeah that was it. So the zoomed in pictures were not as sharp in comparison.
I think I just expected the phone to have the same camera as Note 20 seeing as it came out after it but am sure there is a valid reason.

Yeah it’s basically the same as the S20’s i believe apart from the 108mp and periscope lens for better zoom.

I imagine periscope lens will come next year

I think it has the faster shutter and focus of the Note 20 over the S 20 models.

Hopefully. I've heard nothing but bad things about the S20 cameras.
Like I say though the samples I've seen looked nice enough.

S20 Ultra had the issues. Regular and plus models cameras were pretty good because they had a different autofocus.

Really? S20 cameras got very good reviews. Better than the S20 ultra

@GrumpyMom has said how bad hers is for anything moving. And that any fine details, like fur on pets just doesn't get captured.

That's generally been my experience with Samsung cameras too. I've said it before on here that everyone hypes them massively yet three months after a Samsung device comes out, most people are back on their iPhones and Pixels and the cameras never get talked about as the best on the market.

That seems to have changed somewhat with the Note 20 Ultra. But even Jamezr has said that device is a bit hit and miss for every day photos.

Well, for like the 3rd time in the past two days I have a preorder in for the Fold 2 again. I keep switching between preordering this and the Tab S7 Plus. I can't decide which makes more sense for my use. I honestly think the Tab S7 Plus would be a good IPP replacement but it just doesn't excite like the Fold.
