can't seem to find any decent cases for the fold 2 the samsung looks nice and i can get decent discount on it but doesn't seem very substantial does anyone else have recommendations ?
Very limited options now. I purchased the black leather case from Samsung just to see how I like it.
i still have a week or so to find one i don't think i'd want to use it unprotected even for afew days lets hope more appear by the start of next week.
I'm not honestly. This is a super niche device due to price. The anticipation to read these reviews isn't as high as a new iPhone. They should all trickle out this week.
I disagree. Its easily the most exciting smartphone released this year. I think a lot of people are interested in how much it has improved. Surface Duo reviews just dropped and I guarantee more people are interested in the Fold than that.
There is no embargo but I'm glad reviewers are taking their time to properly review it instead of rushing it. Engadget said they were not gonna rush their review for the fold because its so unique and samsung worked hard on it.
Consumers are not anticipating the Fold reviews like a future iPhone. Again, it’s a niche device. A lot of people don’t even know what the original Fold is. I’m talking about the general consumer. Not people who read tech sites daily.
The Fold 2 being more exciting than any other smartphone has nothing to do with whether a publication feels the pressure to release a review once an embargo lifts. The opposite can be said when a new iPhone is released. And unlike an iPhone, the Fold is a non-starter for most consumers at that price point. It will remain a niche device until Samsung can drop the price one day.
General consumers arent subscribed to MKBHD or other tech reviewers/sites that primarily review new and exciting technology, lol.
You aren’t getting my point. The reason the Fold reviews didn’t drop at the time of the embargo is because the demand for them simply isn’t there. MKBHD and The Verge and any other popular tech resource caters to the general public. Not just tech fans. And for that reason alone none of these publications feel a pressure to drop the Fold reviews in a timely fashion.
Wrong. The reason Fold reviews didn't drop at the time of the embargo because there was no embargo to begin with. The press received their folds the day of / after the event and were free to publish their review at any given time. Some sites rushed their reviews 3 days after it released while others are simply taking their time and doing an in depth one. At least fact check before you post nonsense.
I understand what you're saying, but it's just wrong. The general public doesn't typically check sources like MKBHD, Verge, Unbox Therapy, Flossy, etc. They don't cater to the general public, they cater to tech enthusiasts. There's a reason while those guys have reviews for every major flagship device and not every single budget phone. It's because their audience are primarily tech enthusiasts who are more interested in the flagship devices.
For example, they all just dropped reviews for the Surface Duo. Do you really think the general public is interested in the Surface Duo or have even heard of it? No, of course not. The only people interested in that are tech enthusiasts.
You actually are just proving that I'm right. If there was no embargo, then anyone could have dropped a review when desired, and most places are taking their sweet time. That wouldn't be the case if this was an iPhone. And the reason for this is what I've already stated. No matter how cool the Fold is, the audience for this is niche still and nobody feels as if consumers are dying to read reviews of this device immediately. Also watch your tone with me. Nothing I've stated is nonsense and I am not going to tolerate such a hostile and ridiculous reply.
You could not be more wrong. MKBHD, The Verge, Unbox Therapy, all these sources cater to the general public AND tech enthusiasts. Why would most of these places then not rush out Fold 2 reviews? Because their audience is beyond the tech enthusiasts who are anticipating Fold 2 reviews. And if the Fold 2 were a cheaper and more popular category right now, then they probably would have dropped reviews quickly. But the lineup is so new and expensive that the pressure simply isn't there.
The Duo reviews all dropped because Microsoft had an embargo on when they would allow reviewers to discuss the software. I know that for a fact. So all these places have had Duo's in hand waiting for the moment to drop the review.

CNET is in progress and said they're going to take their time on this device. The reviewer has been posting photos taken from the fold 2 on twitter
Engadget is in progress and also said they're taking their time on this device due to its uniqueness on their podcast
MKBHD just got his last week and in progress
A lot of the top youtubers from Canada / UK never even received an early device from Samsung.
GSMArena always take their time due to how in depth their reviews are
Most sites have either done a review or are in progress due to how Samsung shipped the devices out. A lot of people in the UK don't even have the device in hand or just recently got them. Most places are taking their time because its not a normal smartphone and a 2 in 1 device. No one is disagreeing that its a niche device, but you are wrong about embargos and that "the demand isn't there". Its just misinformation, thats all!
The small conspiracy theorist in me thinks many are holding off their reviews until they can make sure this model doesn't suffer from another significant design/build flaw. The biggest question mark for a device like this is durability, especially after what happened last year. Better to put it through it's paces and possibly be the guy/gal that gets to break a story about a specific durability issue than rush out a review and then have to back track.
Otherwise, yeah, I'm not really sure why it's been a comparative trickle of reviews for the Fold 2.
And if this was a new iPhone they would all be out now. We are talking about a completely different device and hence the reviews trickling out reflects that. And yes that's why the reviews are not coming at the same pace.

If this was an iphone, there would be an embargo date. Theres no embargo date here so reviewers aren't pressured to rush their review for a device that costs $2000 and is only the second generation of a phone that had issues in its first generation... this is common sense.
