Carrier for me. Tmobile.

I thought about unlocked for the faster updates as I'm a little worried about T-Mobiles update frequency with phone with such a small user base, but in the end I went carrier version because I like VoLTE and sometimes rely on wifi calling.

Ahh ok. Was wondering cause it seems like every mystic black unlocked model now shows september 28th as expected delivery on the website but shows 18th on the app.

You know that TMobile doesn’t require devices to be certified to use their VOLTE or wifi calling, like AT&T or Verizon requires, don’t you? My understanding is that they have what’s necessary in the OS and has been there going back Android ver. 5 or 6. As long as the cellular modem has TMo’s frequencies, you’re good to go.

Yeah I saw that. I'm sure that the most popular version and Samsung may have underestimated the demand.

Also, it sounds like a lot of ATT customers phones went out yesterday and some are being delivered today.

I think you meant to quote me...and yes I do know they support it. But if found in the past that volte was less reliable and wifi calling was a mess with unlocked phones. Maybe it's improved but I didn't want to deal with the hassle. Plus I can always unlock it later.

From what I understand unlocked phones work on Verizon VOLTE and wifi calling as well, I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks. Although now with a delayed shipping date I almost (*almost*) wish I ordered the Verizon version. But then I'd have to wait 12 months to update the OS instead of 10 months.

MKBHD review is out. He's less enthusiastic about it than most. He says all the same stuff everyone else is saying, but he just doesn't seem to be as big a fan of foldable devices as some of the other reviewers.

Honestly Marques always has the most well-rounded, and honest impressions. I think he raises some great points while still acknowledging how important and cool a piece of tech like this is.

Think he knows its great but has room for improvement...1-2 years is when it will rise as developers Feb used to updating apps to match the screen size

I'm a fan of his, but frankly that was a terrible review. He hardly goes into any details about the user experience, specs, cameras, anything. It's mostly just..."yeah this phone is great but foldable a arent mature and it's too expensive. But yeah, it's the best foldable."

I expect more detail from him.

That was a terrible review from MKBHD. He made some valid points of course but no focus on the cameras, the speakers, and it just felt super low energy for some reason. His point about using the outer screen more is pretty strange too. Sure he found it easier to use now but who among us isn't going to unfold this thing when we can and use it in that manner?? I'm personally never going to use that outer screen unless I'm replying quickly to something, changing a song or podcast, or simply on the go. Otherwise I'll be using the Fold unfolded in just about every other scenario.

And the Instagram app can be fixed to fill the entire screen with the Gold Lock app. How do these reviewers not know this???

Mr. Mobile will create a much better review.

I'll be honest, lately I've noticed he's come across as a Samsung hater. His review of the Note 20 Ultra wasn't exactly that great either. He never completely trashes Samsung devices, because he's not that dumb to try such a thing. He knows Samsung devices are easily some of the best and most advanced devices out there. Instead, he adds little snarky comments, to take away some of the shine of whatever Samsung flagship he's reviewing. For the Note 20 Ultra, he's says it's good, "but for that price, it better be." Really? It better be? Has he ever used that comment on any expensive tech he's reviewed? Red Cameras, Teslas, or any Apple device. You know all the expensive things he buys himself. Now in this review he says the Fold 2 is the best foldable, and then adds, "but for what?" The fact he can ask such a dumb question, and call himself a tech enthusiasts just shows he's full of it. Then you add that he actually made a video explaining the $600 Apple wheels, says it all. I don't know why people think he's an android guy, he plays the fence, but he's through and through, an Apple user, and that's totally fine. But these days, if you want to watch a review of a product, you're better off watching reviews from people who actually choose to use the product as their personal device. So for Samsung products, watch reviews from people who truly like the brand. For Apple, go with the reviewers that use Apple devices. This is the only way you'll get to see a really thorough review of what a device can do. So it's basically come down to, if you're wanting to watch a Samsung review, and the reviewers wearing an Apple watch, don't bother with the review. Reviewers are human and humans are tribal, that's what the industry has come down to now. Let's not forget, YouTube reviews have become a big business, so we have no clue who's being paid off, and I don't mean only in money. No matter how much they tell you otherwise.

Agreed he's got to the top but now never bothers to actually review anything

We always put out conspiracy theories about people being paid off when a review doesn’t validate our opinions. The fold is a 2k device. For 2k you want the least faults with the device. Makes sense. We have to think of the average consumer who probably thinks anything over 500$ is too much for a smartphone. So 2k is in the stratosphere. It’s not a fully matured product yet. I’m a little OCD. That crease down the middle would probably bother me. if it was half the price, maybe not as much. Anyone know how thick and practical it is when it’s folded closed for pockets? As folded phones mature In the Future and the prices come down enough to appeal to the masses then reviewers won’t be as critical as they are now

Yes he's definitely conflicted in trying a different approach and can't help but falling back on stereotype metrics while he brackets the Fold as the best "fold-able"

A strange and hidden agenda me thinks

My point has nothing to do with validating my opinion. Lol. Let me say it again, he doesn't make the same snarky comments about any other relevant OEM. He says the Note 20 Ultra better be good for the price. Again, he buys and reviews expensive tech for his own personal use, and has never said any other brand's product better be good because of its expensive price. There was no point in making that comment. He makes a video explaining the $600 price tag on Apple's computer wheels. Lol. Then he reviews one of the pioneering devices, of a form factor that most believe is the future of mobile devices, and he says "it's the best, but for what?" He can explain a $600 price tag on some stupid computer wheels, but he needs to ask what's the reason for the Fold to be the best foldable? Seriously? Are you seriously not seeing the problem with this? Smh.

MKBHD has been pretty up front in that he prefers Android and Google phones in particular. If fine with him being critical of a phone, but at least give an in depth review. The Fold 2 review felt like an unboxing and first impression video. Not up to his usual standards.

He's about as unbiased and as fair as they come. Yes, his Fold 2 video was maybe a bit lazy, and not in depth, but it raises some really good questions about this form factor as it stands now.

Y'all need to watch the last two minutes of this video if you think Marques is completely pro-Apple.
