The modern smartphone essentially was not invented until the iPhone in 2007. Before then, the only widely used smart device was a Blackberry. And that series had a physical keyboard and a small screen.
I will say it again, no other previous smartphone has been as vulnerable to the elements as the Fold series. You either agree or disagree. That's your choice.
This really has nothing to do with 'good practices'. I keep harping on the beach example as I believe the sand warning comes both on the screen plastic and also a warning during the booting process. If I recall correctly.
There is nothing I can do in my normal usage that would allow me to use the Fold freely on a beach with the exception (of course) of using a pouch the entire time.
This will be an issue for some, and not so much for others. And I get that. But please stop this narrative you keep pushing that the Fold does not provide new and unique issues for smartphone owners. Again, there is nothing from the past that properly compares to it when you factor in both the hinge and the very sensitive inner screen.
Sorry the current accepted slab type format came along in 2007 that does not mean there were not others preceding it and certainly others before Iphone eg HTC and LG.
I understand you are being more cautious than others but most exercise reasonable practices when using their phones in extreme cases
If you actually follow OEM's recommendations, most phones are not even suitable for laying on a towel exposed to the sun:
"Use devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F)" and "Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F)"
This shows that most should already be using good measures
I get it your risk adverse and that's fine don't by the Fold, others who are less so and follow reasonable steps can still enjoy their Folds
Unless you want a Phd in stating the obvious, most people know how to take care of their products accordingly and have always done so, no narrative, just simple fact.
We seem to disagree on this so lets accept that and move on
