Seems like a lot of you are using a 2nd phone with the Fold 2, so nobody is really running it as their only mobile device which makes me a little worried as thats how I'll be using it. Ive never been one to roll with more than one phone, although I switch phone often. I just never found it necessary although Ive wanted to at times.

Anyway, picking my Fold 2 up today. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Also, does anyone have experience with Latercase cases? I see they are releasing a front and back aramid case soon.

I used it as my daily for a good few months. Had no real issues to be honest. Only reason I’m not now is IOS is better for my daily life as my main phone.

I am. It's been phenomenal. Battery life is amazing. Switching between screens (60Hz outside 120Hz inside) isn't jarring. The inside screen really shines. I've kept both protectors on and use the phone with no case, just carbon fiber dbrand on the back.

My main mid-size complaint in ergonomics is that I wish Swiftkey would allow me to customize the height and width of each keyboard independently. If I size it for the outer screen perfectly, it's a little too big inside and vice versa. I haven't tried gboard yet. Ideally the inside keyboard would be slightly narrowed (pushed inward on both edges) or split, but then it applies it to the outside keyboard which is silly because it's already narrow.

In short, on my S10 I could type perfectly without looking at the keyboard and on this one I have to look if I want accuracy to be perfect (outer screen). Inner screen is pretty much fine but I use the outer more for messaging. Maybe I still haven't dialed it in all the way but it's close enough to not compel me to spend even 2 minutes on it.

Also the fingerprint scanner isn't that good because of the angles I use it on in regular use. It's worse than the S10 ultrasonic. Facial recognition definitely alleviates it somewhat but those are my only 2 complaints. Software has been excellent overall with a few tiny quirks. Wecome back.

Although I carry two phones it's daily not a thing I don't do with this phone.. It's actually doing more than my iPhone... You won't have a problem at all IMO...

Ordered the case

I'm using Tasker to switch to Samsung keyboard when closed.. SwiftKey when open.. Helps although I'm not a Samsung keyboard fan...

Setting the phone up now. Its basically in brand new condition. Not a scratch or mark.

I just slapped on the Ringke thin fit case and I hate it. The case fits fine and doesnt move, but this phone really goes from being thick to way to bulky really quick when you add a case. I might have to go the Dbrand route or just slap on the rear aramid case and use that only. Because this is just too thick with a front and back case.

I’m using the Fold2 as my only phone, however.. I do use my iPP to do certain things. To each it’s own, but I don’t like carrying two phones. I‘ve done it before.. just feels it’s much simpler having one phone.

Oh yes most definitely two phones always... AW5 paired with iPhone 12 Pro.. I have to admit missing my iPhone Max.. This might be a short marriage this 12.. Haha
I just got the 12Max...wow..great phone. But I really enjoy the fold2. either can be a daily driver, especially in a pandemic.

Well Fold owners, going all in on Samsung Dex. Been contemplating it for awhile now... decided to give it a try.

First thing I noticed.. using trackpad on the Fold2 is smooth.

I saw this article, in the link below, the other day, and the first thing I thought about was going full Dex.

Samsung's new smart monitors.

I've had thoughts about it. I played around with Samsung Dex on the Mac, but it's really kind of redundant when it's platform on another platform.

I wanted to take a step back and remove macOS from the equation, give it a closer look to see what the full capabilities of it. So far, I found that trackpad on the Fold2 is quite useful. I was planning on using a mouse, but Samsung makes that decision difficult. The scrolling is subpar, not much gestures that can be used.

So, using the trackpad on the Fold2 is a no brainer. Or perhaps there is a trackpad specifically for Samsung Dex I haven't encountered that yet. Apps are running smoothly, no hiccups. Still trying to determine app placement... wish there was a more solid solution for adding widgets on Samsung Dex. I know there's a tweak or some type of app, but I tried it in the past with my Note10+ and it was buggy.

Perhaps, the only major negative I have thus far... is Sound Assistant. They haven't fully optimized it for Samsung Dex. On Galaxy devices... you are ability to tweak each audio stream, but on Samsung Dex that is non-existent. Audio Streams can play simultaneously, but can't tweak each stream.

I am struggling to be honest, I jumped off iPhone in July after continuous ownership from the iPhone 3GS. I got a bit bored and was getting a few issues with my 11 Pro Max, Apple Watch 4 and AirPods Pro but that was probably because I was always on beta software lol. Got the OnePlus 8 Pro which was really nice and then the Fold 2 on release day which still blows my mind. The bit I am struggling with is the Linus quote mentioned above "Why would you spend time optimising for an expensive device only a few people buy, over the millions of regular devices out there?"

The Watch situation is just not as good either, I had the Apple Watch since day one and love wearing a smartwatch. Since moving to Android I have tried the Samsung Active 2, Amazfit, Tikwatch and now a Withings Scanwatch. They are all nice but just dont work as well as the Apple Watch.

The device from a software perspective just feels unloved and I cant see that changing anytime soon. I wasn't impressed with Apple not releasing an iPhone without 120Hz or a smaller notch but just got a 12 Pro Max to play with to get it out of my system so to speak. I cant put it down, the screen is stunning and the combination of iOS 14 and the A14 make this thing fly and look gorgeous. Love the flat side design as well, was never a fan of the rounded stuff. It just feels solid in the hand. The refinement of iOS on the iPhone and the strict guidelines on app creation just mean the apps are nicer. Widgets look stunning on iOS 14, they look horrific on Android.

I love photography and the Fold 2 camera is great but the ProRaw looks really interesting on the 12 Pro series. So I am going to use both phones for a few days and if I still cant put the Max down I will sell the Fold and get some AirPods Pro and a stainless steel Series 6 watch.

Sorry to be negative and I think my friends will disown me after saying I was done with Apple lol. Why did I try a 12 Pro Max!!

Plus I just got an M1 Air yesterday, that thing is another story but its voodoo magic!

LOL

I have the Samsung G9 49" Dual QHD resolution with 1000R curvature, QLED, HDR1000, 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time
Yeah, I seen that. That would of been overkill for DeX lol.

It's no problem. We all have our own opinions, it's an awesome time to be a smartphone enthusaist... there's plenty of great smartphones out there.

But reading your post... I can already tell, the Fold2 would of simply be your secondary device.... not your main. Similar to @The Game 161, if you are tied to the AW and strongly prefer using it. Then no matter how much you are impressed with the Fold2... you going to choose the iPhone.

It's either, you have both... Fold2 and iPhone. Or no Fold2. And as much as I enjoy watching Linus... I'm not going to allow anyone influence my decision. In general... I take YT content creators opinions, but I rather use the device to form my own. And this is the 2nd iteration of the Fold, as the technology gets less expensive, the adoption rate will increase.

Cheers dude, appreciate the reply. You are right, I never want a 2nd device and I have rocked this as my daily driver for 2 months, even though I love new tech just feels a little early for me. I also feel like I am baby sitting the screen all the time as I dont want it to get damaged, will see how I get on with the iPhone again over the next few days.

it is a tough balance with a foldable. You want it to be the primary daily driver, but being worried about screen, dust, damage, is not ideal. Good bad or indifferent, the iPhone is super resilient is feels normal in the hand (candybar size vs big foldable). So there is a lot of changes to overcome. If the value out weighs the pain of change...you will love it :)

I tried the PS5 controller with the Z Fold 2. Unfortunately, the PS5 does not use a standard HID controller, so the buttons are not set correctly. Fortunately, emulator programs are able to remap the buttons. This way you can play our favorite games with it.

Thanks. I have sold the Fold and moved to a 12 Pro Max. Loving the new design and the screen is massive.

No shade to you, at all. But screen is massive? Kind of odd.. coming from the Fold to the 12 Pro Max and saying it’s a massive screen.

I plan on picking up the Pro Max for my cousin, I’ll have a chance of seeing the new design for myself. But no matter what... I can’t pass up on the functionality of the Fold 2.

Here's the roadmap concerning One UI 3.0.

And here's news Samsung is on its way to send out beta test banners to Fold2 owners... albeit in South Korea.

got to admit guys I had my fold 2 sitting in my bag all week not used and has made me think do I really need such an expensive device if I'm leaving it in a bag for a week? decided to start using it again and realise how great it is.

not easy fitting it in daily life when I have my pro max, iPad Pro 12.9 and now my m1 air but I have realised it certainly has a place and it's easy to forget hoe great the tech is. certainly can use it for a different use case it'd just managing to make sure you use it for different things I guess.
