What do you think of the rumors that the Fold 3 will be 7" down from 7.6"? Not sure how I feel about that. I've grown accustomed to the large size and enjoy it a lot. Having basically an iPad mini sized screen in your pocket is really cutting edge today. 7" isn't too bad but a 4" external screen is a big change form 6.2".

Fake news I think

Chances are that will be for the lite version

I read a rumor today that due to the increased cost of the inner screen with pen support they will be making the outer screen smaller again, 4" according to the rumor. Galaxy Z Fold 3 to get smaller Cover Screen, Z Flip 2 get a bigger one - SlashGear Personally I highly doubt Samsung would do something so stupid. The larger outer screen on the Fold 2 was universally acclaimed, can't see them going backwards.

Perhaps Samsung should just make the Fold 3 a loss leader device. Sell at a loss for £1k but get wider adoption so that app developers actually make apps for their foldable screens. They then recoup the losses when all apps work properly on the folding devices and they have worked out how to produce such phones more economically.

At the rate they are going, they will do all the development work, with little take up, only for Apple to release their foldable in a few years to erase any market lead they might have.

A small front screen would kill the fold 3 so I very much doubt it is even being considered.

I could never use the Fold 2 in its current state. I can't lose S pen support, water proofness, Microsd card support (in the future this is not a true requirement but nice to have), and peace of mind if it drops for now.

I like experiencing the LG velvet dual screen as my foldable for now but definitely not a daily driver but at least it has all of those aspects for the most part but a middle big hinge that stops it from being truly a fullscreen foldable. The note 20 ultra has been my favorite fully featured phone ever overall. I hope the Fold 4 gets everything right because it doesn't look like the Fold 3 will and I love my samsung products but not the risky ones like the Fold 2.

Agreed

4 inch display is not useable at all if they do this you may as well just pull out the iPad

This would be awful move for Samsung...if it’s same price with a pen would rather no s pen and same size

This is the 2nd post I have noticed with your reference to "peace of mind if it drops for now" and "risky" care to elaborate ?

Hmm, I've now read the "rumor" of a 4" external screen on the Z3 a few times with supposedly different sources. That would be completely nuts for Samsung to neuter it like that. Hopefully those rollable phones like the LG concept will be out by then and we won't have to worry about an external screen anymore.

what's made me worried is the fact a z fold lite is no longer happening in 2021 so if there is a 4 inch display it won't be on a lite version.

I’m another that’s heard so many rumours about 4 inch external.
Originally was gonna have fold 3 as next phone but pretty sure I’m gonna go for the 2 now instead. But I’ll wait until next summer when hopefully price goes down a bit

The only way I can deal will a smaller external display, is if they make it wider. I doubt they will make it wider though, so I can't understand why they would choose to shoot themselves in the foot.

The Fold 2 design is near perfect IMO.

I personally don't care about having S-Pen functionality on the Fold, if it has something to do with making the external screen smaller.

It would be a really odd decision to decrease the front screen from the current model. That's a huge step back. It wouldn't make sense.

The design now is pretty good. Imo they should focus the next iteration on getting the front screen wider, adding water resistance, add inner screen durability, incorporating the Spen, and improving fold specific software/apps.

Ross young has pretty much confirmed screen size will be similar for fold 3

phew
Haven’t really been following much news on the Fold 3, perhaps because I doubt I’ll purchase it. I’m more concerned with how they plan to utilize One UI 3.0.

There’s no One UI 3.0 beta videos on the Fold 2, so there’s no indication on how it will be. I’m sure there won’t be much differences between how One UI 3.0 will look compared to any other Galaxy devices. But I’m looking forward to whether they add some specific Fold 2 features. I for one, am looking forward to Samsung expanding on the Edge Panel. It’s unfortunate that the Fold 2 doesn’t have the ability to add 3rd party edge apps.

I’m anxious to experience the new multitasking on One UI 3.0 for the Fold2, I tend to do that a lot compared to when I was on the Note. The bigger screen just makes a huge difference.

What do you mean, it does on mine.
Well, not sure if you had the Note. But I came from the Note10+ and with the Note your able to add various 3rd party panel apps. And on the Fold2, there's no option to add different edge panels other than the ones Samsung has offered in panel settings

And what's annoying, the Fold2 should definitely get the same perks if not more as the Note. Samsung gave us the ability to use 3 apps at one time, which is useless for me...but its available. For example, here's this video of an app that i want the ability to use... however, its not available for the Fold 2.

I thought you meant third party apps to the edge panel. I understand the difference now. That looks cool!

latest rumour is we could see two fold 3

one being an ultra version which I'm guessing would have better specs with maybe pericope lens and 108mp lens. will see if true.
