So, someone on Reddit discovered a loophole that may be a game changer as far as this pre-order goes...

So, one of the bundles Samsung is offering is the Fold 3, Watch 4 Classic, Buds 2, and Spen case for $500 off. But the catch is the max trade in value then becomes like $450 for the Fold 2 and goes down from there. So not a great deal. HOWEVER. If instead of selecting that bundle, you add the items in that bundle separately at the choose accessories screeen, then when you go to checkout it will automatically say it "found a better deal" and convert you to that bundle while still keeping the same trade in value.

With this trick, I was able to get the following for $1150 (with trade in of S21 Ultra and old Active watch): Fold 3 256GB, Watch 4 Classic 46mm, Buds 2, Spen case with spen. Thats a pretty stellar deal.

I'm still not sure I will keep the Fold 3, in which case this will all have to go back, but this deal is good enough for me to at least try it out.

The csam thing has me feeling like the veil has been pulled. Straight up saying one thing while completing doing something that I personally think is contrary to those things is very off putting. Not saying google is any better but the way they are handling it too by applesplaining it over and over is so irritating. Enough so that I’ll drop 2k just to try something else when 2 months ago a 13 pro max 512 with AppleCare was an automatic preorder.

Nope, I did it through the website. Once I added all the items it automatically converted it into the bundle. They may have caught on and shut it down.

Ice universe has been going off on Twitter about the UDC on the fold 3 comparing it unfavourably to Chinese branded smartphone UDCs.

Yep, Flossy was better on this and made it clear what the video camera sees compared to naked eye.

MKBHD deliberately sat at an angle on his video so the crease was always more visible where he is much more parallel/straight on with other phones reviews talk about play to the audience for reactions

Think I will stick to Flossy, Lisa Grade and D2D with a pinch of Linus in future

The standard Fold S-Pen doesn't have bluetooth so it doesn't need a battery. There's no charging the standard Fold S-Pen. Basically the same how the S-Pen from older Galaxy Notes worked, before they added bluetooth.

Well google are quite honest and upfront about what they are doing. They don’t preach one thing and do another thing.

Already pre-ordered. I have been waiting for THIS SPECIFIC PHONE since the first one was announced. Watching the first one be revealed, I knew gen 3 of this device would be the way to go. It was hard. Haaaaaaard for an itchy trigger finger early adopter like me to sit out till now. But I knew, the one that could withstand a stylus - bam - that’s the one. I figured Sammy would crack it by the 3rd gen.

I am amped. Excited. Old school new tech excited. Remember how it felt when a new BLACKBERRY dropped? And then a new Windows device? Any Symbian fans out there? Then we got the smartphones and it was great but then…it became the same slab over and over and over again. Now, finally, it’s exciting again. Interesting. The engineering is exquisite. The software specific to *this device*.

Times I felt like this previously: iPhone in 2007; G1 in 2008; Moto Droid 2009.

I feel a bit underwhelmed by the downgrade from 10mp to 4mp on the inner display cam (which is the camera I use the most on the phone). I mean the trade-off of an underdisplay camera (in the current state) is weak. The disorienting pixels on the camera module (which are clearly visible) are not worth it. I will happily keep my Fold 2 for that matter. But for the people who are going to experience foldable phones for the first time; enjoy it .

I don’t know what video you watched but he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary compared to any of his other videos. He had straight-on shots, angles, panning shots; I mean, it was normal MKB stuff to be honest. And anyone watching a video of this phone probably isn’t new to it. I don’t think that many casual users watch videos like this And are like, “omg look at the crease!?”

Everyone in the “fold” knows what the deal with folding phones and creases are. This isn’t anything new. its been on full display for years now. It is what it is.

And even if the he was doing that (he wasn’t, I couldn’t disagree with you more) it didn’t work. The comments are the usual stuff regarding this. Some want it, some don’t get the concept, some need their Note and S-pen back, etc.

I don’t subscribe to any of these people since I don’t really care about every piece of tech they bring out so I just go there once in a while if I know something’s out that they covered and I’ll check it out.

I think Fold 3 will be more first time Fold users... I'm not saying Fold 2 users aren't upgrading, but I think S, Note and iPhone buyers will get majority of the sales.

Totally agreement with you. But I never use the inner display cam... if I did, I probably wouldn't upgrade if it was such a integral part of my daily tasks.

Yeah, I enjoy MrWhoseTheBoss too. I prefer content creators to take their biases out the equation when discussing products. But given I have a Samsung/Android phone... I cater to those who have the same device that i have. Channels like Sakitech and JimmyKnowsBest is my top two go-to channels for Samsung/Android phones.

Isn’t that approximately $3600 USD (or more depending on storage options) in original retail prices for those phones? I understand that phones are not an investment, nor generally hold much value but that’s doesn’t exactly feel like a great value, IMO.

Certainly not judging though..almost a prerequiste to be a serial phone user/flipper to hang in this forum.

But what it does is make the interior screen more visible, which is that phone’s entire purpose for existing - the giant screen. Not selfies with the giant screen open.

I’ve noticed this and it gets on my nerves. At the same time they are obsessing/over hyping/ giving passes to other products, literally creaming themselves over these devices that are made made by another manufacturer. If they are being unfair I just turn it off. I feel sorry for Samsung because they really take criticism to heart. Some of them are nitpicking because they feel that they need to find a negative to give a ‘balanced’ review but some of them are being blatantly disingenuous.

I don’t see the issue myself with the UDC. Just use the outer display selfi camera. It’s not even like it’s the only one on the phone. Those vapid, selfi obsessed crowds wouldn’t even buy a phone like the fold. It’s not on their radar. I’m not concerned with selfi cams anyway even on regular candy bar phones. As long as it can be used for a video call that’s enough. I don’t need a 50 mp shooter. It’s just a waste to me. I told ice universe as much too lol
