You aren't getting an iPhone 6s at the strip mall phone shop for $199. Legitimately anyway.

But you can get an iphone from any carrier store for zero down. Sales are sales no matter what the dollar amount is. High end low end mid range.........they all add up to sales. Android dominates in global sales.

For those with multiple Apple devices, it only makes sense to use an iPhone. I'm curious about those of you whose only Apple device is your iPhone. What specifically do you like best about the iPhone? Security? Updates? Status? Better hardware?

I use iOS and Android, but have no tablet and use Linux on my desktop. I can't make a compelling case for either OS. iOS seems more secure and stable; Android is more flexible. I've avoided making an expensive choice so far.

Yeah I see what your trying to do too. You want to only count high end sales. Because that is Apple's space. But that is not the only sales that makeup market share. All sales go into determining market share.

Android has bigger market share because Apple is just fine with not competing in those markets. Apple makes enough on the higher end market that they can surrender this market share.

But since Android is the only one in those markets and thus has market share by default it doesn't automatically follow that it's more popular merely because it has more market share.

I think to an extent they might be with the smaller iphone. If Apple does enter the low end smartphone business it will have enormous success at first. But then look at the low and mid range Android phones. They offer the latest technology. Can Apple do that? They would have to really cut their profits margins to do that. I don't see them doing that. I mean Apple is one of if not the most profitable companies in the world. they have accomplished that by staying in the high end smartphone market and it has served them well.

Who even buy $30 dollar cables? I buy Anker lightning cables and even micro USB ones and they are cheap. Spent $9.99 for a ten foot cable and $11.99 for a 6 foot braided cable. Cheaper prices for micro USB ones

Have not bought cable in years and years. Just exchange if wears out. Always gave me new one at Apple Store.

You'll be back! I gave up S6 Edge when 6s Plus came out. This is my first iPhone and there is no way you can get me to go back to Android. I gave up that gorgeous display in exchange for a smooth experience. Trust me, you will not like that Touchwiz lag. I watched a hands-on demo video of the S7 a couple days ago and the lady was swiping through the screens and it would take her a couple swipes to move through it. Everything she tried to do would take her a couple times! So the lag is still there. Good luck!! Oh yeah...hopefully they fixed that wonky fingerprint reader also...slow as heck compared to iPhone 6s plus. That S7 is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but beauty only goes so far. You might want to think about it!

This. I won't go back to any skinned Android ever again. Nexus on the other hand is good. Samsung and lg will ALWAYS have lag and issues. Buying one just for the Camara doesn't make sense either when the software with everything else is laggy.

It won't be....for a couple of months anyway. Listen, I'm not making up that Samsung has had lag and software issues..its well documented. Last year the s6 had the same lag and ram management issues as always. The question is why would this year be any different?? More ram, better processor? it's still Touch wiz and lack of optimization being the culprit. This is nothing new.Every year is said to be fixed and every year ends up the same. Maybe this year is finally smooth sailing..but imo it won't be.

oh these debates. i honestly think its pretty easy to arrive at a preference for any recent generation device. they're all quite good!

i have a few apple devices, so the ecosystem argument works well for me. but i've also been increasingly critical of the current direction of mobile UIs and bugginess, so i'm always on the look out for anything that appeals more to me. so far nothing has done that yet, so i'm sticking with what i have.

iOS is sold by one corporation on one type of phone. Android is not a phone.. There are many many different manufacturers selling many many different types of phones using Android OS.

Now let's compare the sales with simple logic. Samsung vs Apple sales, LG vs Apple, Motorola vs Apple.
Instead of Every company vs Apple and skew the numbers.

I've already noticed in some areas of the USA I travel to monthly, there's a noticeable migration away from iPhones. As more and more users are enjoying the excellent Android models from Samsung, Google, MOTO, LG and others, they're not returning to iPhones.

At some point as this trend gains traction, Apple's going to be forced to create a new product that'll sell in massive quantities. That's when things will really get interesting.

IOS is sold by one company because Apple chooses to make it that way. They don't want to licenses it to other companies. Android is licensed and available to all. They are bith mobile operating systems. So the comparison is valid. Apple has the best selling single smartphone model in the the world.
