Figured as much haha
You know something. Here’s my take I think it’s all to do with how the panels are bonded together and not necessarily the manufacturer models or serials. I also think that these OLED panels get less “yellow” as they age. Wasn’t there something about this on the inter webs about the glue curing or some BS like that ? Ain’t it just strange the most of the time when an iPhone is release most people inc ourselves talk about yellow tint. But then a year or two later the comparison between the outgoing model and the newer one is “ wow my previous iPhone was brighter and less yellow..” I’ll digress. 😂🤣

Is this breakdown of panel serial# somewhat accurate or sound even remotely true ish?

I think still comes down to panel lotto
That was true may be just for 13 Pro. That's said in the topic. Since 14 Pro - G9P is said to be the best, but imo that doesn't matter. You can get good or bad panel, no matter the serial number. It's just like every display on the planet. For me the serial is just different production line/factory.

GH3 or GVC? Just out of curiosity and general stats.
GH3. As someone who also prefers LG oled TVs I have always thought they made good panels. Only issue is its measurably less bright tan my 15 pro max. I can’t remember for sure but I think that was a G9P. However it’s not noticeable if I looked at one phone and then the other outside in direct sunlight. Not convinced that’s a panel brand issue

Well according to that article which I believe to be a myth G9P Samsung panels are 3rd or 4th tier in quality 😂

Yeah, it was weird. I never had iPhone before 14 Pro, but my sister had 13 Pro with G9P and looked fantastic. No idea. I never saw iPhone with bad screen to be honest. Even my mother/father's Xr with standart LCD looks great (it's high-quality IPS after all). (Mother - LG, Father - Toshiba)

Indeed. All the bad screens I’ve experienced in past iPhone iterations have been Samsung panels. Then again, same issues that the iPhone panels had the similar would occur with Samsung devices as well. Green tint , poor uniformity etc but guess what didn’t effect Samsung devices yellow panels - well I never experienced that with Samsung. 🤓

The only bad Samsung panel I ever saw is my Switch OLED. Green tint and grainy gray background (like all units.. even Steam Deck OLED suffers from that) on different part of the screen at specific brightness. Some have it on the left (like me), others on the right. My Samsung Note9 had average screen. No green tint, but the gray uniformity was complete garbage. Otherwise, my both iPhone with G9P panels are perfect in every aspect.

my steam deck which is Samsung is super clean, minimal grain and no gradient

I see what you're desribing on my 'launch' oled switch unit though, also on left side :p I keep it at same brightness auto brightness off to minimize the effect of this.

I'd love to know who makes my 'A055' panel MacBook Air 15 inch M2 for science, but... can't find anything from googling.

When you find out. If you could also find out who makes the M1 MacBook Pro panel I’d like to know. Lovely panel.

It's very possible to be LG. They are one of the best (if not the best) LCD manufacturer to date. I doubt will be some cheap brand like AUO, InnoLux or BOE. They have horrid QC.

My 16 pro max screen is so dark when outside in the sun it is sometimes unusable. I hope there is a fix to this.

Mines definitely the top quarter area slightly more tinted when night shift is on. Again it’s all relevant to my ambient lighting also. Sometimes I see it sometimes I don’t. Haha. I’ve said this before, I do love the non OLED M1 MacBook Pro 14” screen. Wonder why they never used this tech for the iPhones. Probably cost or robustness?

Is my panel slightly yellow ? 😂🤣
Hard to see in photo but night shift on full wack
Just a bit 😂.

Eventually we will be rid of OLED, but probably some years until that point. Sadly.

Just wiped the G9N phone with red tint along the right side. TT and NS enabled, compared side by side with the G9P phone there is no unevenness in that one. Just very slight (white) non-uniformity toward top 1/3 of screen, really need to try to look for it. Glad I waited to send the G9P back, turns out this one will be as good as I can expect.
