Makes one wonder sometimes. The old screen uniformity issue might not always be just a bad OLED panel but the way the glass is bonded onto the panel from factory. Well for pink tinges anyways. 😉
What was wrong with the pixel panel first time around ?
It is definitely the Apple screen protector, the ESR one is great. I only see some rainbow effect in the sunlit room I was working in earlier. Otherwise minimal shift to pink at extreme angles. It is odd because I never had an issue before with the Apple screen protectors. Could be something with the panel that refracts light a certain way, who knows 🤷‍♂️. This one is definitely top tier in terms of Samsung panels on iPhones that I’ve used. Really no issues at all, even uniformity is excellent.

I only got 1 Pixel, was perfect on 1st try.

OK, after removing the screen protector my original 1TB does indeed have a major green tint even at the slightest of angles, the rainbow 'waves' were indeed the screen protector as people have said.

2nd from the Apple store has the same green tint, but to a slightly lesser degree.

3rd from the Apple store (I ended up grabbed 2 at the same time) has an ever so slight pinkish (but consistent) tint overall and hardly any colour shift off axis.

My wife could easily see the difference between my 1st and 3rd from a distance and said that one is much better. She was lucky in the panel lottery 1st time around, but I am much more likely to pick these sorts of things up.

My replacement to a G9N Samsung is a G9P Samsung. Is it better? Maybe a little bit, if anything I think instead of being green at the top it’s more green at the bottom now. Yea the Samsung screens are warmer and have a better contrast ratio than the LG IMO, but the green shift is fkn wild. Ah well this is good enough I spose. Haha never thought I’d be saying “tgis is good enough” to an Apple device, this moght be my last iPhone of they are of such poor quality, dunno what I’d get in tge alternative though, defs not a samsung

Bummer, I know...
My first device had G9P - yellow tinted overall, and also a yellower blotch on the left vertical edge.
My second (and current) device has GH3 - perfect uniformity, no blotches.
I tried a third time to see if I can win the Samsung lottery, but the 3rd device had G9N - red/pink tint on top and yellow/green tint on bottom.

G9P samsung it’s ok I guess, looks worse to tye eye than camerra. Does tye green stuff if you tilt it even a small bit, like a blob of green rolls up or down the screen depending on angle I think it is better than my last screen so cbf trying for a better one.

I have the same issue. The yellow wave moves up and down depending on my movement. I assume it’s an OLED issue.

Here are some photos I took of my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I picked it up on launch day and have noticed a slight yellow tint toward the middle and top of the screen compared to the bottom. Even though my return window has passed, I’m considering requesting an express exchange. Interestingly, my partner says he doesn’t notice the difference, but to me, it’s definitely there. What’s odd is that sometimes I forget it’s even an issue until I focus on it again. I remember going through three iPhone 14s before finally finding one with a screen I was happy with, and I’m not sure I have the patience to repeat that process this time around.

Looks like a good OLED panel to me. There will always be some kind of color shift when tilting at those angles. I’ve noticed it with every OLED panel whether Samsung or iPhone that I’ve ever owned past and present.

This is the exact issue i had with mine. Drove me nuts especially when reading. And getting it exchanged was a hassle because it was launch week. I imagine it'll be easier now.

But personally i decided to skip this generation altogether because i wasn't in the mood to play the display lottery.

Yep seems like a lot of these panels have a tilt bias so even when you are holding flat it is a bit tilted and the screen seems greener at the too. This panel seems a bit less aggressive in doing it at flat but the green blob does shift more aggressively with the slightest of tilts. Ah well, I cbf going through the loto again I’ll live with it but Apple’s QA seems to be going down the toilet, might try an android next phone, wont be a Samsung though they are very bad QA in my experience with their TVs.

My friend (who had no luck last week in getting a good display without blue shift on a 16 Pro Max after 3 attempts) decided to try his luck yesterday and go for a 16 Plus instead. 2 attempts and both had blue shift. Crazy. He just officially gave up and is keeping his 14 Pro. Never seen the lottery be this bad.

I mean, I visited two Apple Stores in my area and I saw only one good display, plenty of so-so meaning with bigger or smaller tint when tilting and two crazy bad ones with dark green tint with even small tilt . So from my experience, it is 90% you will get something mediocre with a blue shift, 3% for a very good, and 7% for a very bad display. 🤷 So the chances for a great one are really low at least from what they use to show on Apple Stores. That’s why I was so impressed with some pics posted here bc they looked really good and such a good display is almost impossible to get.

My iPhone 16 Pro seems to have the same ‘issue’ as yours! The top one-third of the screen seems to be a little yellower than the bottom two-thirds. It is most apparent in the Settings page. I actually posted some photos of my display a few pages back (post #477) and eventually decided to keep my phone. Here are some more photos of my display:

The hint of yellow in the top part of the screen still bothers me sometimes, but I have decided to live with it, as otherwise, I feel the display is pretty good (especially since it has very little blue shift). Anyway, my return period is over, so not that I can change my mind!

If you ask me, I would suggest you keep your phone, as it really looks pretty good, and chances are, you might get a worse one down the road with no hope of recourse. I hope this helps!

Oof thought the 16 plus was a better gamble than the pros. Sounds like it ain’t so

Those are one thick borders you have. What’s the story with that ? In my eyes your panel is depicting a slightly magenta tint lower half.

Oh, it’s just my Casetify case, haha.

I just had a look at my screen again, and there’s no magenta tint in person, thankfully! But I do see why you gathered as such from the photos I posted earlier – I think it was probably just bad lighting when I took those photos.

Here’s another one with better lighting:

I'm seeing it also. It's kinda pink where brightness slider is starting and quite yellow for the appearance options. Could be from the camera, but that's what I'm seeing here. :D

What panel was that? Samsung? G9P? N?

I am guessing from all these comments it is a 16 Pro issue and not the 'basic' 16 impacted? How annoying eh.

I’m with you on the yellow part but disagree regarding the pink part, haha. I guess it’s just hard to photograph my screen head on. If anything, I feel the photos in post #477 most accurately capture the colour of my display.

It’s a Samsung G9N. :)
