Respectfully: Yes, it is. With TT und Night Shift off: Not perfect, but acceptable, with TT on: worse, with NS on: even worse, with both on: a nightmare.

The reason why I post it here is not that i want complain about one specific panel and I am still within the return window. I'm a really loyal apple customer deeply tied into there ecosystem and I have been using countless apple devices for years. Maybe i am just too picky or had bad luck, but my experience this year has been way worse than the years before and i really don't understand why QC is so bad and why this problem is not mentioned elsewhere. Everybody talks about the camera control or the power button of the mac mini. But the difference is: With camera control or the power button you know what you get bevor you buy and you can make an informed decision. With the panel it is just playing lottery.
Fully agree, I'm moving into Apple ecosystem bc like I really like my macbook and how things work out there but just sent back my first iphone (16 PM) bc the screen was very bad with strong green tint. At first I wanted to keep it but eventually I went to the Apple Store where I was looking at the iphones before ordering mine and back then I thought they were mostly so so with one being awful, one being very good and desired (like every iphone should be). And after comparing mine with those at the store, like first of all mine was 10-20% darker (at max brightness) and I saw it clearly with naked eye like probably it would be even more if you measure it with some device, but like the tint one my screen was worse then the most awful screen at the store which made me crazy sad and angry. Like I really like the device, it is crazy good (except some touch problems and UI not compatible with large screens at all) and like coming from android phone I really had an impression that I was stupid for last 5 years bc like that iPhone is much much better...but like the whole purchase experience is so bad for me. I'm a bit anxious person so returning a phone is not that easy for me, like I'm scared it will be stolen or destroyed in the process of resending etc. and that the mobiel operator will be angry at me bc like why am I ordering and returning iphones like mad, will they ban me or smth. I decided I will get next one but it will be my last one for now, if it comes with a screen which is good or at least average I will keep it, but if it comes green again I will return it back and probably buy a 5 years old iPhone just to use that ecosystem.

So yeh if you are in any way anxious and you are in any way sensitive to display quality bc you are a photographer
designer etc. (like we are talking about >1k$ pro device) I would strongly suggest reconsidering iphone 16 PM ;/ ;/

PS. And I think the whole packaging with stripes etc. turns out to be against us all bc it is like buying an apple (to eat) in a box and you can't even check what's inside, only if you open it at home and take a bite you see it tastes awful and is rot inside but you are to anxious to return it back bc you have invested you time and energy. I think that it is unfair that nowadays apple is using the closed packaging as a strategy to push faulty and low quality products on the market assuming people will have hard tiem returning them back. As much I like Apple, it is just a ****** way to do. I would rather like jsut walking into an apple tore and see the working product with a working screen and just pay and walk out happy

EDIT:
PS2. And I hate like the guys at Apple Store acting like NPCs, like I show them two screens and ask why my is so bad and like the reaction is...hmmm yhhmmm i don't know....I don't see it....its a bc of demo mode maybe, like I don't believe that they don't see a problem at all and I believe they are trained to just don't notice the problem (or they are really crazy blind) /I talked with 6 guys there on various occasions and actually one was like...hmm yeah I see what you mean, like if you want a good screen probably ordering and returning via web is better then buying with us here (I was trying to ask what happens if I buy a new device at local Apple store and open the divice with a tint, and his suggestion was that they will have hard time seeing the problem and it would be difficult to exchange the device just bc of the tint)

But our Apple Stores are not official stores but Appel resellers mostly so probably they are less willing to exchange the product bc they will lose the money or smth

Are you able to buy direct from Apple online? I avoid resellers for mobile service and phones like the plague. Spot on re: the NPC comment, it can be infuriating at times 😂.

I bought my 16 PM from my mobile provider bc the waiting time when ordering from an Apple online store here was 4 weeks or more (it is much less for now I think). And ordering with a provider is just like hunting, you can get the phone much faster but you must be patient and just check its availability on their page and if you see it you have like 1min to fill out all the forms. The fact that you can return it was main argument, but paying monthly is nice too.

Yeah like maybe I'm a power user or smth but like when I get a device I like to put it through its paces and check everything, and I really don't get those guys knowing nothing about the devices ofc besides colors and if it runs tiktok or snapchat well, like I ask about battery 16 P vs 16 Pm and the answer is which one is better for snapchatting :D (but like looking at the number of parents with 7-13 years old children at the Apple store and choosing PMs for them, it can be that they are the majority of customers and those phones are really targeted at youth, probably partly the reason why Apple doesn't care about the screen quality)

And it is funny bc at the same time I checked the Sony store just next to Apple bc I was interested in a lens for bird photo (new hobby) and I asked two random questions on zoom lenses (I was trying to act a bit like a smart guy bc I checked beforehand all the info on internet) :D and the guy was like...nah this lens is useless for birds, this one is crazy good, here is my instagram account, I do bird shooting, I know what am I talking about, trust me 😀 Like I would love to get smth like that at Apple ;)

Last week, I decided to take the plunge and request an express replacement from Apple for my phone. Unfortunately, as I feared, the replacement turned out to be even worse. Here’s what it looked like, the green tint at the bottom was absolutely awful. I called Apple to let them know I’d be returning the replacement and sticking with my original phone, which, despite its issues, looks much better in comparison.

i really have no idea how the hell they are pushing those green tinted screen on the market and noone from the youtuber says nothing. Like those green tinted screens would be awful even for a mid range chinese android phone.

This is truly disappointing coming from a trillion-dollar company and such a premium device. Honestly, if I weren’t so deeply tied to the Apple ecosystem, I’d seriously consider giving Samsung a try this year.

That’s absolutely terrible. SMH. 🤦 looks like OLED panels have regressed. My panel was acceptable to me , but far from perfect and nothing like the one you posted. Sorry. 😢

Edit. Samsung Mobile also participates in the OLED lottery syndicate. 😆

In my experience Samsung are just as variable on screen quality. The Z Fold was perfect on every generation up to 6 though. The fixed screens have had the same issues over the years/generations……again…..this is just my personal experience.

Feel very lucky to have found one good one out of the units I rattled through, as said previously……the Max’s seem to be worse affected than the smaller Pro.

I’m happy with my Pro Max screen but I’m finding it too large, my arm physically aches after using it for 3 days. Kind of worried to downgrade to a Pro and get a worse screen.

The Pro screens (in my experience) don’t seem to be as badly affected by the cross-screen colour variation. All but one Pro (non Max) that I saw had off axis green cast but all were even head on.

Bargain bin display. Looking like scrapped counterfeit parts. Geez!

The text even looks pretty faded, not crispy at all. Like a weathered e-reader or something.

Lucky you. Here in Germany seems to be the opposite.

my 13 mini smokes that 16 pro max (the slight discoloration is screen protector distortion)

Yeah most previous iPhones in the last few years have had great displays even last year. It’s this year they dropped the ball.

At the moment i have the 16 pro and 16 pro max. Using both, thankfully lucked out with both finally and great displays. Now gotta figure out which one I’m keeping.

Ironically the 16 Pro Max feels lighter than the 16 Pro, just more cumbersome.

i got my 2nd replacement iphone 16 pro max, and the screen panel is GVC, not sure i want to keep this or what, got tired of waiting for the replacement. overall uniformity is good, just the there is slight green tint when you tilt the phone towards you. no photo because when take a photo, cant really see it.

If it is uniform then that’s a win on a Pro Max, I have only seen one that didn’t have green tint, forward tilted in portrait, and that was the Pro not the Max.

I'm undecided whether to return it or not. What do you guys think of this? I couldn't prevent the rainbow effect, ignore it-if possible.

And why should I return it? From what can be seen in the photo, the panel is practically perfect. Perhaps a slight pink tint at the bottom (mine is like that too), absolutely worth keeping!

I know this is an iPhone thread, but since we’re discussing uniformity, I recently picked up a 13-inch iPad Pro M4. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the screen—do you think it’s a keeper?
