Hate the yellow tint, hate that it's dimmer than my 15 and HATE that everything about the 16 seems like a rush job, last minute phone cobbled together with AI promises because camera button gimmick is useless and they know it.

This is exactly how I feel too. I got the 1TB version and upgrade every year.

Every time I unlock it now, it just annoys me and I feel ripped off.

auto brightness makes its worse always darker, I like max brightness all the time so I turn it off
If you just purchased the phone, it is probably still backing up which means it is probably still hot which means the screen brightness is throttled

every single year there’s a thread like this saying the screen is dimmer etc. Personally when I compare my 16PM to my 13 PM the 16 is clearly brighter and the screen is looking just as good or even better than my 13.

Google search “ iPhone Samsung or LG serial”
Already did that, but found nothing related to this. The only info I found is that Samsung ones have ‘LSN’ in the code and LG has ‘LP.’ But that was a few years ago… even your S/N doesn’t contain either of those.

People have literally posted photographic proof on this forum of the 16 and 15 side by side, its dimmer and yellow.

Maybe it's brighter than a 4 year old device but it's worse than a 1 year old device.

I am not even Pro. My 16 screen is dimmer and more yellow in tint than my iPhone 13. 🤬

Also noticed this, coming from a 15 Pro Max to the 16 Pro max. Sometimes I can´t see clearly what is in the screen if I´m using sunglasses. This has to be addressed IMO

Depends who you ask — Apple ensures both panels fall within the same spec range (must be one of the reasons they don’t let the M14 reach its peak brightness, instead keeping the whole line at ~2k nits max)

But they’ve used both suppliers for the Pro models for years and there hasn’t been widespread hysteria. Historically, some have reported the previous Samsung panels to have cooler color temperatures and less uniformity, LG to have warmer color temperatures and more uniformity. Note: we have no idea if this is even anecdotally still true today, given these are all new panels using new technology and time has passed.

In any case, the point is that both are within Apple’s manufacturing tolerances and if you try to “win” the Samsung lottery through exchanges (no one knows the breakdown of how many are being sourced from each manufacturer), your phone won’t be capable of 3k nits just because the M14 panel is.

Apple is no stranger to cutting suppliers that aren’t meeting manufacturing tolerances and yields. See BOE.

Anecdotal report: my LG 16 PM looks brighter in testing than my Samsung 15PM.

If mine is indeed LG (no idea if the display serial numbers are even still accurate to determine manufacturer in 2024) it looks pretty damn good compared to prior OLED iPhones I've had to return due to terrible screens. Uniformity is perfect, nice cool white with true tone off, text is crisp, on lowest brightness in dark rooms there is no green tint on dark gray screens.

G9 implies it's a Samsung panel, according reddit posts. GV/GH are LG.

Personally, this has been a bad 'upgrade' year for me. Feels like the original iPhone 4 (antenna) and iphone 6 (bendgate)

Really shouldn't have bothered.
