Got the iPhone 16 Pro today and the screen is alot less bright than my 15 Pro using the same brightness settings. Auto brightness and reduce white point are both off, top picture iphone 15 is on the left. Bottom picture is from a guy that commented on my reddit thread, he was able to photograph the difference at max brightness the iphone 16 is the one on the left. Is this a bad display or a software glitch?

Give me a break! The bottom photo is outrageously underexposed. If the screen looks that bad, return or exchange it. No way they are even 50% brightness. I’ll forego my other point.

Why are we four pages into this discussion and there is only ONE photo evidence (max brightness comparison) from someone not even in this forum so we don’t know what their other settings were.

Stop just describing what can easily be shown visually, people! Borrow a camera and post a pic! I’m talking to both those claiming it’s dimmer and those claiming it’s not. Just remember to set it to max brightness ONLY, other brightness levels are useless to compare for reasons mentioned many times in this thread. And indicate phone models being compared, and status of other settings like True Tone, night shift, and reduce white point (best to turn them all off as a starting point).

Edit- and please have the brightness level slider showing on the screen in the picture. Also indicate if there is a privacy screen protector (should be removed).

It’s dimmer. I was driving with sunglasses (as you should) and couldn’t figure what was on the screen. Never had that problem with the 15 pro

Any one else noticed that Apple logo blinks when restarting on 16P?

Mine is not dim dim as compared to last year's 15P but my 15P is not gold standard either, i have always found it yellow and dim as compared to in store units but it could be due to different firmware as someone mentioned in display units.
and serial number of 16P is G9 FWIW

Well, how is your Samsung panel? Does it also have dimmer and warmer tones than expected?
Compared to my iPhone 14PM side by side with given same brightness levels yes. I used to always have my white point enabled and set to 25% in accessibility/ display, I find now I prefer to have this option turned off and redundant.

Thanks for the pic, but what are your True Tone, Night Shift, and reduce white point settings at? Also it would be better if you had control center open to verify the brightness level is at 100%. The more you can show without making people take your word for it the better.
Also is something covering your ambient light sensor? It looks like a cover of some sort.

Yep that picture tells us nothing, unfortunately.

Yeah my 16 Pro also is dimmer at the same brightness setting as my 13 mini. However, my 16 Pro can get way dimmer than my 13 mini with both of them at 0% so… probably just a scaling thing?

No problem here with my 16 Pro.
Me neither, the only concern I had was that for the given lower end manually adjusted brightness level comparing side by side the 16PM looked dimmer than my 14PM. However some logical explanations by well versed forum members mentioned that on these newer designed panels the brightness bars no longer correlate to the same output of brightness of prior displays.

So in essence the brightness output on the lower end of the brightness scale slider was low compared to previous models. Some photos comparing my 14PM to 16PM. 3utools indicates my panel to be Samsung . Auto brightness is also disabled in photos

Given the new displays can go down to 1nit of brightness, it might be that the dimming is more pronounced compared to previous models. Especially and lower brightness levels.
This. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about this. Apple specifically said these new displays have a lower minimum brightness, so of course the brightness levels will be different between the two phones at each level. I'd only be concerned if the brightness was lower at max brightness on the new phones.

True tough with lowest brightness the metric is diffrent. However with the brightness at full that is where the problem is. The display with dim problem dont reach 2000nit but more or less 1400nit. I hope Apple can fix this with a firmware update. Should be otherwise they bought wrong spec displays from LG. Because the problem accours with the LG models. Samsung displays are fine.

Looks like i got a Sammie unit.

Can't say i'm bursting with excitement.

Its certainly warmer and has a greenish dingy hue. And is slightly dimmer to my eyes. Its more obvious in bright sunshine.
But like i mentioned earlier its not as egregious as i've seen on other posts. This makes me think its a software issue.

Would try and take a pic but i know these things rarely transfer well in pics.
